Taskmaster in Black Widow is a COMPLETELY different character in the comics to the point of being unrecognizable.
Special thanks to our Patrons for helping make this possible!

The MCU did a Wolverine: Origins on Taskmaster
Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting for this movie summarized Taskmaster the best: Taskmaster will be like a Wolverine: Origins Deadpool where she doesn't talk and is scarred on her face
Honestly if they needed a villain with the abilities of the heroes, they could have used an Adaptoid or something. What we got in the movie was just a Taskmaster function; she sorta did Taskmaster things, and sorta looked like Taskmaster, but wasn't the actual Taskmaster.
I don't care about the gender and origin swap. But making her a mind controlled mute was DUMB. They could have done the reveal half way, and actually have her motive be driven by revenge instead of mind control nonsense.
I really hated the Taskmaster change, I would be fine if it was Antonia and still have the same traits as Tony Masters, but this was basically Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Taskmaster’s humanity and grounded nature make him likable. He’s a bad dude just trynna make his way around. His obnoxious attitude and fighting skills are what make him fun. Tony Master has character. THEY VOIDED TASK of all personality.
it’s like they gave taskmaster’s personality to ultron 6 years ago
Honestly, I’m not too bothered by a woman task master, I just care that they took away his personality and didn’t let him have his goofy skeletor looking mask
“They don’t read the comics. They won’t care.”
I wish they used Silver Sable instead, to go into the cybernetic enhanced spy motif
Cassandra Cain and Taskmaster:
They basically pulled a 'Mandarin' with the Taskmaster (an OK twist reveal that basically threw away all of the potential of the original character from the comics), only they didn't even have the charisma of Ben Kingsley to fall back on.
Taskmaster in the comic: fun, hilarious, cool
Where'd ya get the damn shirt Drake
This Taskmaster is exactly the character of the young Headmistress.
There was one fake leak from reddit about Black Widow that I think would've worked better for Taskmaster
“Source material accuracy doesn’t make or break an adaptation”
I wish they used a different characer instead of completely reinventing such a famous character to the point where there is barely any resemblance to the character. Someone like Fantomex maybe would've fit better.
And I say unto you:
Yoooo and taking his comic lore and adapting it to the MCU would've been a great reversal of Black Widow's character arc. She went from being a servant of the Red Room to joining Shield and using her powers for a more noble purpose. Taskmaster, however, who has less of a sense of morality, goes from being an agent of shield, to working for the Red Room as a trainer. Would've been a cool dichotomy.
