His parents neglected him so much to the point that they didn’t even show up to his birth. He is a divorced parent who loves his daughter and always tries to keep her safe despite the abused he received as a child. He can only find purpose by fighting his enemy Perry the Platypus who is really his only friend. It only turns out Doofenshmirtz only wanted to be accepted and loved by people and wasn’t really all that bad. Dreykov: Evil screaming man.

I feel like this movie should have taken place during the 5 year blip in endgame because the stakes would have felt more dire and Natasha would have an extra incentive to stop the the Red Room, it wouldn’t have made the movie feel so old because since it took place after Civil War

Actually that is a pretty solid idea. Have Black Widow taking place during the 5 year gap would actually give a lot of context to how the world was like during that time. A lot of the script would need to change, but Id like to see a movie take place during that time.

I felt like this movie was 10% about Natasha and 90% about introducing Yelena since she got all the best lines and emotional beats. I also wanted a movie about Natasha and Clint’s infamous time in Budapest. It took me 3 tries to get thru this movie. Just awful. I did enjoy your video!

I think the deeper problem is that we learned almost nothing of her origin. If I was the writer I would make it a dark R rated origin story about the horrors of the red room.

As a published writer, I can tell that if someone take less that a month to write a story, it's a sign that the story will be bad; like, doesn't matter how many writers made or how simple it is, take months to write it or will give a bad taste. It's recognizable in the final version of it how much work was put on it. Less work/effort = less quality.

The problem with this movie is that the first 40 mins were fine enough even though I personally would've preferred a movie with Black Widow and Hawkeye on their mission in Budapest. But when they rescued David from jail, the whole movie is downhill from there. I had to skip through multiple scenes at that point in comparison to ZSJL where I skipped though only the Lois Lane stuff and that movie was 4 hours long. I don't want to get started on the plot armor and how the worst thing to happen to a main character was a broken nose. The Taskmaster twist and the danger repellent twist was just really stupid for me at least and the end of the movie is literally CA:WS if Bucky was a girl and there were 20 other brainwashed super soldiers. This movie was ass and a 3.5/10 it would be a 1/10 but as I said, the first 40 mins was the best part.

I didn't skip through anything of ZSJL (although I'll be skipping the weird girl smelling Aquaman's clothes) but Black Widow is just an interesting and dark idea going downhill as each minute goes by, everything done by two companies that didn't care enough for it, wanted to retain a pg audience and set the lowest bar for the writer to be able to get the script in 11 days, it's ridiculous and lazy, definetly the worst of the MCU

Honestly, I expected the MCU to fade out at some point, but I did not expect them to go into the dirt at 200 kilometers per hour and keep digging. Between the awful writing in the MCU TV shows and the VERY questionable moral messages in all of them (Loki literally makes the argument that genocide on an infinite scale is a good thing), topped off with black widow being a plot armored train wreck of a story, I can't be excited for a single upcoming project.

I feel like Eternals saw this, and went "Hold my beer"

Alexi was fun. Sure would have been nice to see Red Guardian vs Taskmaster instead of just cutting away from it. But hey Taskmaster wasn't really in this movie so 🤷‍♂️

Wait, the pheromones thing might be even dumber than we think. Couldn't Natasha just pinch her nostrils shut with one hand and just stab the dude with her other hand or something? She didn't need to move away from him or faceplant his table to overcome this "obstacle". Edit: is it possible the reason they cured Taskmaster is because they want her to become a future hero? Because if she's still alive, AND no longer evil, I have no problem imagining them trying to put her in a more heroic role in the future since she still has her cybernetic implants to copy people's fighting styles.

The stunt double for taskmaster looks way more fit for the role. And also they should make it where theres a taskmaster initiative or a backup plan in case drakova daughter fucked it up and reveal another taskmaster who is actually good

Taskmaster would have been better if Taskmaster was so hellbent on revenge to the point she would mimic all the fighting styles just to defeat BW and make her more of a threat instead of turning her into a terminator. I would have taskmaster kill on of the widow family or turn BW mother into the Ironmaiden by horrifically scaring her face.

It could've been so much better, it's still watchable and sometimes entertaining but I watched it in theatres when it came out and i haven't had the desire of re-watching it since bc i think if i do ill like it less, they fucked red guardian, completely nerfed him and made him a retard so that the ladies would stand out, the only thing going for him was David Harbor's charisma, and don't even get me started on Taskmaster, just a mindless robot controlled by a chip that needs technology to be able to fight, the fact that taskmaster fought re guardian and red guardian barely stood a chance was laughable, and we barely saw their fight, it was always cutting back to the others, and why would Dreykov, a man that has an army of women assassins that operate undercover, why would he make his daughter a suit with man proportions, the actress that plays Antonia, which was totally wasted here, doesn't fit that suit, i dont think she ever whore it during filming, it was always a man, it doesn't make sense in the movie for a woman with her proportions to use a suit that bulky that she doesn't even feel, is she even comfortable wearing that thing, and why would Dreykov let taskmaster walk around in public in a flashy blue and orange suit with a skull mask, being everything but discrete, he's literally walking around in public with a tank, why would Dreykov let that happen it could compromise him and the red room, surely the news and police would pick up on it and consider it a terrorist attack or something, it should be all over the news why isn't it, these are probably my biggest problems but there are others, like Melina never being held accountable about all the terrible shit she's done, everything that the ladies do is glossed over, Antonia couldn't have stayed dead bc if that happened natasha would've killed a child, you know what would've been better, Antonia staying dead and natasha dealing with the consequences and try to forgive herself, also the editing in the movie is weird, the tone of the movie is weird, as per usual all the emotional scenes have to be undercut with a unfunny joke and so on, this movie was such a missed opportunity

I'm still mad about the fact that it wasn't Black Widow origin movie. Yelena was very annoying, the plot was stupid, they made Alexi acts like an idiot and it was like Marvel can't make a movie without mentioning Avengers over and over again.

Great video. I recommend checking out Mauler's video on BW because he reiterates a lot of what you're saying and more. Overall, I didn't see it but I agree that we should have gotten Budapest with Hawkeye. That would have been dope and made Endgame hit harder. And also release it after Civil War or between Infinity War and Endgame.

@@GIGio_Official I understand where your coming from on black widow, I was and am not that excited to watch black widow based on the trailers. I honestly think they simply waited way too long to make this movie. But I enjoyed Wandavision especially after watching it a second time, it was different and it finally showed a lot more of wandas powers, which I always thought were too subdued in the previous movies. On another note I think it is extremely hard to judge the MCU movies or any movies for that matter right now on ticket sales and buzz with the pandemic pounding the world the way it has and is for over a year and a half. A majority of people are still not willing to go sit in a movie theater, which is why disney said, Hell we got to make our money someway and debuting there projects on their streaming service just like warner bros. with HBO max.

Taskmaster was probably the biggest sin of this movie for me. Could you imagine the possibility of Taskmaster fighting Shang Chi who is deemed the most skilled martial arts fighter in the MCU? Or even in the future with someone like Deadpool who, in the comics, is literally too insane for Taskmaster to copy. But no, instead we get a mute, throwaway villain that probably won’t even make a comeback

I know I’m late but I just wanted to add. Why didn’t they just have Natasha and Yelena use their skills from the Red Room to infiltrate the prison to break Alexei out? That would have made more sense then just having a dumb action scene where Black Widow and her sister commit mass murder of those innocent guards who probably had families. It’s ironic that Joss Whedon wrote Black Widow better then the director of this movie, and he was responsible for Josstice League.

then Multiverse of Badness came out, then Love and Thunder came out, then She-Hulk came out, looking back on it Black Widow may be a trainwreck, but its not the 40 car pile up during rush hour when we all allowed blind people to drive that the modern MCU is.

Well in the comics Natasha and Yelena have a version of the super soldier serum. It is neither confirmed nor denied that they have it in the MCU. With that in mind look at what Bucky and Steve go through in the other movies. It is a lot more believeable that Nat and Yelena can survive this "bullshit" as you say. The rest I can't defend but I hope I was able to make the movie a little more believeable for you.

They did Task Master dirty….. one of my favorite comic book characters gone to waste. I stopped caring about the MCU after infinity war but this hurts.

Nah this movie ruined Nat's character. Throughout the MCU Nat's story has been hinted to one of guilt and wanting to be better from that (wiping the red off her ledger if you will) and her bonds that she developed with the avengers. However this movie actively contradicts everything about her making her an asshole that neglected her family, killed hundreds of prisoners and guards and showed no remorse and even portrayed her as an idiot for most of the movie. Also the sheer amount of plot armour she had in this movie makes her death scene in endgame ludicrous and cheap. Dont know what you mean by endgame ruining her though. Haven't watched that movie in a while

Along with Captain Marvel & the TV shows, we can pretend that this stuff is not MCU canon.

Why would Taskmaster need to be mind controlled in order to kill Natasha, Antonia should want to kill her because she dropped a building on her as a child.

This was in my opinion worse than Captain Marvel because with her we had no attachment or care before hand, at least in the MCU. But Natasha has had so many years of buildup only to crash im this movie. Im certain this wasn't made so much for Natasha as it was for Yelena, to have another passing on of an older hero for a newer one.

Damn I remember a time when we just watched a movie for the enjoyment of it. Every movie ever made has inconsistencies in them

Watching this video, and Black Widow as proxy, 2 years later really shows how much of a waste using Taskmaster here was especially since we got so many replacment Avengers. Imagine a universe where Taskmaster wasn’t wasted here and was saved so that he could chalange Sam, Kate or even Yelena in a later project. He could copy the styles of Steve, Clint or Natasha depending on whose replacment he was fighting. Copying the OGs style and making the new hero feel inadaquate since this bad guy is better at replicating the OGs abilities than they are. Then they manage to beat him when they finally stop trying to fight like the OG and fight in their own style, finaly embracing their monicer fully and making it their own.

The biggest problem I have with marvel right now is there doing stuff wrong. She hulk, moonknight, secret wars, secret invasion should have been a big screen movie cos of how popular they are as characters and comic stories. Eternals and shang-chi along with other smaller characters should have been disney plus shows to hype up the less established characters as they aint been relevant or done anything noteworthy in comics in a while and to show them of to gain interest in them, then make a movie of this established hype. Theres a reason shang-chi and eternals aint being talked about alot and got absultely destroyed by no way home in views in like an hour.

They should have just called this movie Yelena Belova instead of Black Widow.

Have you seen Loki? They said at the end that everything that has happened in the MCU up to that point was predetermined by Kang. So basically the MCU doesn't matter anymore. Endgame or any of the film, good or bad, doesn't matter in the MCU anymore. I don't understand how so many people are unseeing this. Should have been small scale and personal like The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy . The final battle scene was totally wrong for this sort of flick involving spies and assassins.

Tbh, I didn't like any Disney+ shows, I didn't like Loki too, I watched it weekly but when looking at it, the show and it's pacing is made for binge watching. Plus can u make a video on your views on the Disney+ shows?

@@GIGio_Official sure, no problem but I just have one point that maybe you can use if you agree. MCU in the start built their main characters and used the supporting characters to explore and build up the main characters but now when the OG avengers are gone they're making more and more multi starer to build new characters even though the old ones are not that big of stars plus then they take on too much and can't balance it. For example the show Loki actually became about Sylvie and the trailers/teasers were completely misleading. And in black widow I wanted to see the kick-ass black widow but due to them wanting to establish her sister as the new black widow Natasha has to be dulled down. Wanda vision was used to build Monica Rambo but without any explanation she is able to get powers and do special stuff as if a chosen one. Now that the OG players are gone they need to build mega stars again not continue to build heavy groundwork for future MCU. When they try juggling too much they please no one. It's my opinion u might agree or disagree.

It’s weird how the movie Red Sparrow with Jennifer Lawrence does a better job at showing what a Black Widow movie should look like than the actual Black Widow movie. Even then Red Sparrow wasn’t the best and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Same with this movie. I really, really wanted to like this. But it’s just so far from what I expected that I had to literally turn my brain off to get through it.

Hope you respond back, want to know your opinion on this, I absolutely agree about Black Widow, well the movie, this would have been my idea for the movie, a clone of Natasha Romanoff awakens in the Red Room and while training, begins gaining memories of the Original Natasha and escapes the Red Room, and is now trying to get away from the Red Room and Taskmaster (Mel Gibson) who has been hired by the Red Room to hunt her down, and she's struggling with herself gaining memories of Natasha, and Clint Barton, despite knowing she's a clone, helps her discover who she is and what she wants to be.

if we're going by the comic then natasha and the other black widows are also super soldiers of the same russian version of the serum that alexei is juiced by which is why she is able to survive things normal humans can't

This movie is terrible. I’m glad I didn’t waste money on watching it. I just waited for my favorite KZreadrs’ reviews. You know what wouldn’t be terrible? A plushie of your cartoon character. You should totally make one. I’d buy.

That would imply there was expectations for Eternals

in my opinion captain marvel making nick fury loosing his eye to an animal with cat camouflage to make it look like a joke was the worst dissapointment in the whole marvel universe.. i mean nick was a badass serious character with an interesting mystery and they blew it up for people to laugh at it just like thor being fat and being asleep every second of the endgame was just as bad and so is hulk with banner personality... compared to these things black widow is nowhere close to MCU biggest dissapoitment

I get what you are saying, but I didn't expect much from Captain Marvel so it didn't surprise me when it was a bad movie. I expected the MCU to treat Black Widow a little better than what they did so that is why I found this one more disappointing.

I was so disappointed in the direction the movie took after the incredibly chilling opening.

We definitely are in a low point for marvel. Personally, I enjoyed cap and the winter solider. Didnt watch wandavision tho and I dont plan to see this either. Waiting on spiderman

I prey for Spider-Man to be good every day.

It's sad to see the MCU go from at least 75% of the stuff in it's phases being interesting to damn near being entirely left behind by fans.

I'm still highly pissed off by how they handled Taskmaster... my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. It maybe a cheap fix but I hope they use the multiverse to bring in a new Taskmaster that is better.

Couldn't even finish it b/c it was so bad. Mauler's review is such a thrashing. With the time you had, a good overview of its problems.

The thing is, the mcu has had terrible writing for YEARS. For some reason people just keep giving it excuses, the kind no other media gets. So many other movies and shows get torn apart over every little thing, yet the mcu gets sunshine blown up its ass constantly.

Just a quick correction Taskmaster can't and won't copy Moon Knight for two reasons. Reason one, the multiple personalities. They kind of messes with his photographic reflexes as he can't switch fighting styles like Moon Knight can due to the way the personalities cycle. Reason two, Moon Knight would rather take a hit than waste time blocking it or avoiding it which Taskmaster has stated is the reason he doesn't like copying Moon Knight.

man... between 11 days for the script and the character assassination, it all makes sense.. Why this movie is coming out now and has all these issues: To pass the torch to Yeleena. Imprint the "care" we had for her onto the newer, better, younger, abandoned, abused widow that lacks the 'ledger'. I would say ""well it wont work Marvel"... But..

Personally, I think that the biggest MCU related disappointment is Captain America Civil War. I know that it's a huge storyline to adapt to a movie, but my two major gripes with the movie are: A) Zemo's plan relied way too much on things that there is no way he could've predicted would happen, and in some cases, he manages to do things that are not well explained, or make the protagonists look like morons. B) The whole point of Civil War's event is the conflict between the concepts of Freedom and Security, and in the end of the movie, it feels like this core of the movie has been thrown aside, and for what? To decide Bucky's fate, even though it is known to all that he was brainwashed when he committed all his crimes? This was a serious letdown for me, because I had a lot of expectations from this movie. The irony is, since I had no expectations from the movie of Eternals, I actually enjoyed THEIR movie a lot more than what I felt while watching Civil War.

I don't think marvel is that stupid to permanantly damage one of the mcu's most popular caracters, maybe they have more plans for her in the future.
