BLACK WALL @ 24%

Intrigued by the Myth of the Black Wall climb & the informative ride adventure videos of those who have traversed this steep pass, Monday morning CRZ challenge set off to find out who will crawl to walk and add to the growing statistics of the Black Wall hall of Fame. To add excitement, we added the Big Ring challenge game and listen to who’s chain and Bottom Bracket will Torque out first :)

Thank you Coach Leian for the guidance you gave me and Hono during this episode. There is a misunderstanding that Coach is advocating for big ring climbing. I don't have that kind of power in my legs at this level - as shown in the video I "made tawad" and we (me and Hono) climbed the black wall with our small rings. With his climbing technique - it was more doable for me on that 24% segment. Never in my life I would attempt something as crazy feat like this before meeting him. I know what it is like to be injured without proper guidance. Spinning my way up Tagaytay all by myself without friends teaching me did more harm than good. By the time I got back in MoA something was hurting real bad. This was a few years back. This is the beauty of Coach Control. He just makes things look simple for you and me. Posture, technique and torque are what I apply during my climbing days. He and Tommy just really love to challenge themselves. They deserved this Big Ring challenge with all the years of training put in their legs. Experiment is not for everyone to replicate.

I am a relatively newbie who have recently just switched from a single 40T Chainring / 11-42 Casette to a single 50T / 11-34 and surprisingly I can climb better ever than before. Managed heart rate, easier recovery and faster acceleration. I even beated my previous personal records and can finish a 100+ Km of uphill and flat rides feeling fresher. Next project is to graduate from 50T to 54T.

Speaking from experience: I used to be a "spinner" before. My idea of climbing to get to the top is to spin like crazy, pray I reach the top before my limit and then rest kasi my heart would be beating like crazy. It was honestly not a "fun" thing. A month ago Coach introduced me to what you see in the video. Climbing on the big ring (52T for me). At first i'll admit I was very skeptical. Hirap na nga ako sa 34T tapos 52T pa? Couldn't practice with them because of work but watched these videos and applied the concept that Coach was explaining here in my usual climbing place. It worked for me. The climbs became more manageable. I get to the top fresher, not gasping for breath, and most of all, heart rate is not spiking at all. Kakatuwa kasi after a while I would wonder if I even got a workout kasi the legs are not hurting and heart rate is normal. I only speak from my experience. What works for me may not work for everyone. All I know is that ever since adapting this I've been happier climbing the places I frequent. Disclaimer: Im not a competitive person - certainly nowhere as strong as Coach and Tommy. Black Wall would be insane for me on either options 😅. I also know there's a lot of work to do, adapting a new system takes time...but I'm happy with this method because it worked for me. Oh and my knees and chain are still ok ☺️

Am a fan of The Navy team and Angelo Biker dude - because they all provide us with good cycling entertainment . Let’s get together to cheer for them. We can never be better than our idols when it comes to physical strength but we can have the same level of fun and happiness like them. I wanna thank you personally for still watching our episode. Your passion to cycling can sometimes get the better of your enthusiasm. And creating KZread videos are my only way to contribute to Cultural Change that has slowly eroded - that you so highly , perfectly embody.

Good luck sa iyo pare.

Say Happy New Year at all the riders pilipinos . Dear cyclist friends, take a seat that the talk will be a bit long, but given the very popular channel I will be able to reach the ears of many Pilipinos cyclists congratulations to the girl, a really very strong girl, who has filmed the entire video of the climb, climbing the black wall at 24% gradient, on foot. heartfelt congratulations, great feat for she . I will, if I can, give 3 tips. the first is to NEVER use the large frying pan in front with a large frying pan behind, in any type of ascent, unless it is an overpass, the chain is too offset, it could break and damage the teeth of the pans. I broke some teeth of 3 platos, large pans, of the Shimano DurAce 11/28 titanium cassette. second: a basic rule, which will be effective in the "pedaled gesture" is to have a lever based on height. and this is reproduced in the mm of length of the crank arm. I, for example, who are 1 m and 75 cm tall, should use 170 mm cranks, but since I will have a lot of muscle strength I will have added a couple of mm, bringing the value of the crank arm to 172.5 mm. third: to produce valid exercises to produce and have muscle strength the minimum RPM that I recommend must be 55/60. Low RPM as in the video, will only tear the knee and ankle ligaments, no increase in power. it could be that the calculations will be wrong, and the engine torque is much lower than 200 Nm, considering that a 300cc Maxi Scooter Yamaha XMAX Luxury with 300 cc of displacement and 30 horsepower has an engine torque of 30 Nm, more or less. Dear My Friend, you are a very strong cyclist, but letting go of these unproductive workouts, and you will put into practice these little tricks, your power which is really excellent, will grow until it reaches the point of excellence. I'll guarantee you. I will have climbed the Zoncolan 12 times one of the most terrifying climbs in Europe and in the world: average gradient of 20% with peaks of 29% with 34/29 ratios, Tiso cassette, artisan company in the city of Camposampiero, province of Padua Italy the first time I climbed it I had a 39/25 Shimano DurAce ratio, the ultimate 3 in titanium, and I guarantee you it will be one of the most devastating experiences I have tried. With gradient 29 % 😭😭🤢🤮 and I will have been delighted not to have released the pedals here we will talk about watts as if they were gummy candies. I will have an anaerobic threshold power of 380 watts. and I manage average power, in the various road routes Tugas to Tudela more or less 13 km, of 260/280/300 watts, which will take me from 15 to 20 minutes the journey. with average speed from 36 km / h to 38.5 km / h, with peaks of 65 km / h, down from the Poro descent to the High School on the Mangrove Forest road. onto Camotes Island Cebu Philippines 🇵🇭 my bicycle is a Giant TCR all carbon fiber and titanium, the only steel it will find are the three handlebar screws and pipe, the wheels are the Fulcrum Racing Speed, mounted tubular, with ceramic bearings, like everyone else. Shimano DurAce 10-speed electromechanical gearbox with Extralite crankset and Rotor Oring pan 50/34 Shimano DurAce titanium 11/28 sprocket cassette carbon saddle weight 70 grams. total bike weight 5,850 grams. a feather !!! Say Best of luck for all your desires be deserve. Stay safe and sound, see you soon until next interesting video, have a good one nice Bro', be careful God bless you always cheers 🤗❤️🔝😎
