    aqua fina cis (short for cisgender) means someone who identifies with the gender assigned to them at birth. “Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning "on this side of", which is the opposite of trans-, meaning "on the other side of".”

    When gay marriage was finally legalized a few years ago, I shared the posts about this huge win! Well a gym friend asked me if was "non-straight" I was SHOCKED. Not because she asked me but because of the way she was asking me. Like she would not want to be my friend if I did identify with the LGBTQ+ community. I told her, in front of the entire locker room lol "I don't care who you or anyone wants to be, as long as you're not oppressing anyone." She just walked away and we never talked again. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I don't need to be a Black trans woman to support y'all ✊🏾

    @@maatsun trans people are very aware of their biology - do you think they aren't? It's a pretty huge part of what makes them trans, after all. But the lived experience of a women goes BEYOND biology. Trans women and cis women have more in common with eachother than either group have with cis men. Trans women experience many of the same levels of sexism and misogyny as cis women do, as well as a whole host of other prejudices. Literally NO ONE is saying that trans women and cis women are EXACTLY the same. But they are oppressed in many of the same ways - so it seems a shame to not be united in a front against that oppression, don't ya think? It's so frustrating how everyone comes out with this BORING non-argument of 'they have male biology and it can't be changed' - when 1. some of it can and 2. the bits that can't (chromosomes, menstruation) are not what we use to define our LIVED EXPERIENCE of gender. People be like 'have they ever had a painful period or had a baby? then they aren't a woman' - PLEASE. Trans people make up LESS THAN ONE PERCENT of women. A FAR HIGHER percentage are childless, don't feel pain on their period, or don't have periods at all. People be like 'well they still have a womb' - most of us know what is like to 'feel like a girl' before we even know what a womb is. Funnily enough, this organ that I can't feel or see very rarely enters my mind when I think of all the challenges that come with being a cis woman. Furthermore - if a man EVER tried to define our gender by our periods or baby making facilities, we would quite rightly tell them that they are being misogynist arseholes, and that there is far more to the lived experience of being a woman than just having ovaries. Yet when trans women enter the chat, apparently those super simplistic, misogynistic arguments are totally OK, because now they're being used to exclude trans women. WAKE UP. Kat Blaque has said MANY TIMES in her videos that she has no interest being in spaces that don't want her. She is totally on board with cis women having their own spaces to talk about the experiences that relate to their biology. Stop acting like trans people wanna invade your spaces - I'm sure most trans people don't want to be around you because you are so obviously hostile towards them. However, if you're gonna do that, you should expect some criticism. Get real, most of the things women talk about in 'women only spaces' apply to trans women anyway. We spend VERY LITTLE time talking about our periods - so excluding trans women from conversations in which they are relevant and have a perspective is just churlish. The lack of compassion in this chat for a group of people who are so vulnerable is staggering. Grow up.

    Hey Kim, would you ever do a segment on Black *Intersex* Women? Cis and Trans Women have been talked about a lot I’ve seen throughout the Internet, but I never seen Intersex Women get talked about throughout the KZread. And if outside of Intersex Women and Men talking about their experiences (literally one of the most viewed videos on YT is a Black Intersex Woman who had to flee Africa because of bigotry), the other videos of Intersex Women are people being very uneducated about them. Every time I see people say “This is a platform for all Women, Cis and Trans.” I kinda get sad that people gloss over Intersex Girls. I know Cis and Trans deal more with Gender vs. Intersex dealing with Sex, but I wish they wouldn’t be as disclosed from conversation.

    @@louloudemondemon296 Becoming? Honey, trans and non binary people have been around since the dawn of time! In a lot of cultures around the world we've been able to be out and proud without any issues too. In my culture we've historically often held roles of mediators and healers because we're better equipped to understand the whole range of gender experience than cis people. Those are usually elevated positions within the culture, like doctors and psychologists today. My culture recognizes 5 genders, some recognize as many as 7, most recognize gender and sexuality as a spectrum at least though. It's actually a fairly recent thing for us to be a (sometimes closeted) minority. I'd be happy to help you find resources if this is new information to you. They are trying to access the protection/advantages (as little as it is) that women have and are actively rooting to divorce the idea of womanhood from cis women. It seems to me they are dismantling our identity, not helping it. If I’m activist and need to select allies, I will not pick people who are actively trying to change my identity even negating it. We select allies that reinforce us, not dilute us.

    I theoretically agree with all of these points but I still feel some type of way about the fact that cis black women are always expected to do better and give so much when we don't see that in return. Like L'Leret's comment about doubting the true intention of these spaces irked me and was kinda condescending because it's like...really you don't think we're thinking of the bigger picture, systematically? Also, black women have suffered from body dysmorphia since the dawn of time. Obviously we have privilege but the need to be hyperfeminine to survive is something all black women go through at some point. Like there is a fundamental misunderstanding of our experiences. Shouldn't there be a similar movement encouraging cis black men to open up their spaces? We all know it won't happen because again, cis black women have always/are expected to do better. Like Kat said, black folks BARELY cared about Breonna so shouldn't there be a little bit of understanding (and transphobia is wrong) as to why some black women are so defensive of these spaces?

    If you wanna talk about Black trans men, why not talk about Tony McDade, a black trans man who was murdered on June 2nd, right at the start of the protests, but has barely been mentioned by ANYBODY (other than at the marches explicitly linked to Pride marches). Trans men in general fear the violence of cis men to the extent that the majority tend to aim for stealth. Of course, because of the pervasiveness of transmisogyny, trans women are hyper visible and constantly scrutinized by society, a phenomenon which has no equivalent for trans men, consequently making it easier for trans men to be stealth. This is why combatting transmisogyny is vital and why the situation of trans men and women aren’t exactly analogous. And to your last point I’ll just say, “for the privileged, equality is oppression”.

  • @AuntAgatha0fullmoon

    @AuntAgatha0fullmoon

    DS lol sorry. I just saw so many transphobes in this comment section and maybe I got a bit carried away lol. You’re making a lot of valid points. The reason I brought up the differences between trans women and trans men is because they have different experiences with erasure and hyper visibility and scrutiny, thereby making the conversations around them different as well. Due to transmisogyny, trans women are perpetual objects of scrutiny, scorn, speculation, and discussion. This makes passing, and just living your life really fucking hard. This hyper visibility also incentivizes loud advocacy in a way that erasure does not, which is the reason I believe there are more trans advocates who are women. Trans men tend to see disappearing into society as being in their best interests, and they’re not wrong. That’s why the conversation is skewed. I absolutely believe cis men need to be held more accountable for their part in violence against trans people. You’re not gonna find any arguments from me there lol. Also, I think I interpreted Kat’s statements differently from the way you did. I thought she meant that she felt weird showing up for BLM when it’s clear that ALL black lives don’t seem to matter an equal amount, and I think she was using Breonna as an illustration of the fact that even cis black women are undervalued by movements which are ostensibly fighting for black lives. Idk what she truly meant in her heart lol, but if she meant what I think she meant that makes sense. Also, about Kat not taking the initiative to invite cis women on her platform, she hasn’t been doing many collabs recently. But I remember her talking to cis women about transracial adoption in her earlier videos. I just personally don’t think those are equivalent things to ask. I think most people watching Kat’s videos interested in black feminist issues watch at least one cis black female content creator, whereas I think it’s a lot more probable that cis black women have never really spoken to or heard a trans person just talk about random shit. KennieJD recently made a video about how she discovered Kat’s channel and just hearing her talk about dating just made transness so much less abstract and humanized trans people. I don’t think that has a reciprocal equivalent to the way trans people view cis people. All of us know at least one cis person. Chances are we were born to them. Also, trans people generally tend to self segregate just cause as a general rule of thumb, if someone isn’t vocally supportive of you, they’re probably transphobic. And I don’t need that energy in my life you know. So I’m not going to fault a trans person for not going out of their way to stir up that shitstorm. However Kat has always been dedicated to productive conversations which is why she talked to Kimberley. Idk, I feel like we might actually agree on a lot. Either way, sorry for being a dick earlier, and it was nice having a normal conversation on the internet 😂

I am not going to promote my own erase and Black women have to stop fighting every one else causes while ignoring our own plight. Futhermore why isn't transmen's issue never brought up when discussing cis Black men.....it's only brought up by transwomen which some say it's them using unchecked m privilege to assert their power and dominance over cis women.

You want to live by the standards of patriarchy and white supremacy do you boo. But to act like Black trans women have the power to erase Black cis women is just straight up dumb. Biracial women have proximity to whiteness Black trans women do not have. You just want to be divisive when it’s clear our struggles are linked, that’s gross.

    So why can't cis women have spaces to discuss biological things? No I don't care how a man feels about his uterus. Why can't trans men make their own groups using words like front hole or ovary haver or menstruator? If the word female offends a trans man, why can't I say ovary haver offends me? I'm more than just an ovary haver. Cis women groups are needed because we need a space to talk about periods, vulvas, abortions, etc. and how they relate to us as women. Trans woman want to join us in our sisterhood. But trans men don't and still demand space amongst us. How is that fair?

    its about not conflating those things to women, not about not using those words. not all women have those parts. not all men dont. insisting that those parts are a "womens" experience is transphobic to both trans men and women. And it's not like trans men don't also need reproductive health, support and education. it's alienating for all of these discussions to be framed around women when i'm not one. If talking about our shared biology is the important thing i think you should think hard about why you want to frame it around "womanhood" instead of the actual biology.

    @@arowace498 That is not what I said. I said I don't care how a man feels about his uterus. There are reasons why women may need to reconcile their womanhood with their body parts. Just as trans men may need to reconcile their manhood with their bodies. But what you aren't going to do is come into women's and demand change. You know who does well in opposite gendered spaces, cis men. There are about 1% of cis men who get breast cancer. But despite that breast cancer is very gendered. The language used refers almost exclusively women. The preventative care is targeted at women. The ribbon is pink. The name of the disease is *breast cancer.* I have never heard men complain about the language used or that support is geared towards women. Men who have breast cancer deserve support too after all. How is it that cis men are able to go into women centric spaces and be ok but trans men somehow cannot? Wether you like it or not these are women's spaces and if you have a problem with that don't go into these spaces. These spaces are not geared towards you and they don't have to be. I don't understand how 99% of the people in the room are women and yet you don't want to acknowledge that. Learn to read the room and play nice. If you do that, most women have no issue acknowledging the man in the room. It's when you can't that we end up demanding cis only spaces. When it comes to biological things it's usually a disease or medical condition. Suffering women don't need to be nice to you and tip toe around certain words because of your feelings.

    I think instead of cis folks being salty about running the risk of being accused of transphobia, we should consider that much of the guard that Black trans people have put up is well-warranted given the amount of abuse and harm they encounter from cis people on a daily basis. Whatever discomfort you feel with being potentially labeled transphobic pales in comparison to the discomfort and marginalization that actual trans people have to deal with. Kat does not need to be in my sports leagues. I don't care about the bathrooms. Her experiences are not mine and mine are not hers. We can be allies for each other. But we aren't the same. She needs her own trans woman space and I need my woman space. I don't use "cis". Great fences make great neighbors for a reason. Also you’re pretty much erasing gender nonconforming/ non binary trans folks by making the statement that trans people want to present and perform as masculine/feminine as possible and i can’t help but wonder why you would even say that

    Edrick If you are an ally, act like one. Your intentions don’t make your wording or any other actions better by any means and you don’t get to tell the world what trans folks want for themselves in terms of how they perform and present a gender if any.

    Maybe the reason Kim is deleting your comments is because you're making assumptions that seem likely influenced by your own beliefs and misrepresenting her, Kat and L'lerrét. A huge part of allyship is listening and boosting voices, not speaking for people.

    Trans women are not women. Trans men are not men. However, I respect and we should all respect that they are humans who just want to live their lives. That said, their transition shouldn’t infringe on certain spaces. Of course referencing women’s sports. Trans girls beating actual girls in races because they’re physically capable just is not fair. They aren’t female, they can have their own race or maybe join the guys’ team. It might be uncomfortable, but we should teach kids how to respect the difference even when it’s on display. And if some won’t, hey, we all have detractors.
