I’m generally with you on BSR. I really like the first album and I think they got progressively worse as they went. I’m still holding out hope for the alleged 21 Guns reunion. As far as this song goes. I like it a lot more than you. But, I’m not a pop guy, so that makes sense. Though I do like a good number of Monkees songs for whatever that’s worth.

The Monkees are great! But yeah, it's weird the shift between BSR album 1 and the rest of the catalog in terms of songwriting.

I think it's a bit better than you do. Yes it's a bit bland but I think it's the kind of chorus designed to get fans punching the air and singing along. It sounds like a Bryan Adams song and he might sell it better than Ricky Warwick does. For what it's worth, I liked your soundtrack thingy better than any other music I've heard from you. Give up the cheesy pop hooks and write something I can actually feel.

Interesting you like the soundtrack more because I was completely mercenary with that project and put far more emotion and heart into the pop stuff. I tried to make something that fit the film, not my tastes, so I think you just don't like my tastes, hahaha.

@@gregtroyan I think we approach music from very different directions, we just happen to meet at Thin Lizzy.

@@delorangeade I think you like authenticity, unless it comes from me, in which case you like professionalism. ; )

Yes, the stuff from The 13th Cross blows Lipstick away. I did not watch the reaction but I'm assuming that is what Delor was referring to when he says: "the soundtrack thingy."

@@Michael----- The 13th Cross soundtrack was played at the beginning of the video (and I did tie it back into a discussion on the BSR song on authenticity vs professionalism). I think the first BSR album was more labored over and was really trying to be Lizzy 2.0, wheras everything after that was more authentic and honest, and less labored over. The 13th Cross was a cold professional job where I had fun with it, but I don't emotionally resonate with the material in the way I do a song like "Tonight" or "Merle". I did it for the challenge and the experience. I wanted to prove I could do it as opposed to writing something I personally want to listen to. It was made to fit the movie it's in. BTW, The 13th Cross is free to watch on Tubi if you're ever looking for something to do for a night.

I think this 2nd BSR album may be the worst of their 5 albums. Again, I had heard all the BSR stuff before I proclaimed the band complete garbage. I even gave their 2023 album(Wrong Side Of Paradise) a listen, and man it's awful. Thank god Scott at least doesn't have his name on that one. Happy Thin Lizzy Thursday to all! Sorry you had to endure BSR mucking up your day.

We both agree it's a significant step down from the first album. I think this album was more sincere, but by that same token, less interesting for me.
