Uhm ackshually she didn't have a lightsaber in the Thrawn trilogy, purple or otherwise. She borrowed Luke's a couple times. I believe the purple saber is from the Allegiance novel

Yup, I believe the first appearance of her lightsaber was Mara Jade-By the Emperors Hand 0, which was like a preview to that comic series. But most visual representations of her now usually have her with a purple lightsaber
