LETRA
Look through the people, and on through the mist
to the hill of the headless cross
Where all witches meet, on a night such as this
and the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul
with and Angel that fell from the sky
Borne on the air, the screams and the wails
of the masses appointed to die
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's been no escape from the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
How do you feel, when the locks refuse the key
and the master is calling your name
Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm?
does the talisman protect you from pain?
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's no escaping the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud
Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, oh no, oh
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
At the Headless Cross, oh, at the Headless Cross
Where will you run to?
At the Headless Cross
Look, to the Headless Cross

Headless Cross= pure magic. Tony Martin's era of Black Sabbath is very underrated and this album is one of the best albums ever made. The song is amazing it has so much atmosphere in it. I really love Sabbath, Coven, Cloven Hoof carried it on for awhile. A lot of bands disappear after a smash. Go back in time to 1969 and 1970 Sabbath released two worldwide huge ones BLACK SABBATH and PARANOID and they are landmarks, masterworks, brilliant. I think this era carried on great from that era and also the wonderful era of Dio. I will never get over the loss of RJD. It broke my heart and still does. He is one of the best and you can hear the influence he had on the band with Tony Martin's vocals which carry that era on a bit. One thing, though, Tony couldn't or didn't reach for and hit the high screams in the studio version. That's really a shame, but he does sing the lower range and middle range brilliantly.

To all of you who think that this is a bad singing, just have in mind that Martin sang for 20 consecutive days, two concerts a day, on this Russia tour. He was amazing in the 80's, but obviously something happened to his voice in the 90's. He pushed himself too hard, I think.

  • @bojanbelic957

His singing is good. Accurate in tonality, and dynamic, only the bridge before chorus, in original he sang up in octave. But he improvised in lower range and it is fine... For anyone who dont know the process of recording, Dio,Plant, Gillan, everyone, sings a 10, 20, versions of a song or a chorus, and the producers picks the best. For example Graham Bonnet, great singer, never achieved in Alcatraz live versions to sing the same octaves as in studio. Plant very rarely sang -there walks a lady we all know as it was recorded.

He was sick during the Cross Purposes tour and had a throat infection, but anyway he sung all the gigs. That is when he lost his voice. On the forbidden album his voice his rougher and he avoid hitting high notes. On the following tour he is merely ok. After this he was good in studio and just ok on tours.

Had they called the band who made this album "Headless cross" instead of Black Sabbath, everybody would be regarding this as one of the top 10 heavy metal of all time, but the brand name association spoiled it, this is lesson why rebranding is important sometimes.

Almost invariably there are high and low end performances on each Sabbath album regardless of material or line-up. Then comes along... ...a masterwork of thematic elements each and all playing seemlessnessly to, for and with each other that creates and gives us a cohesive unit that neither wants or needs anything else from anywhere else. This is what we have in "Headless Cross", a song and album both that say meet us and hear us on our own terms. There is nothing wanting on nor in any element of this masterstroke of both the song nor the album. It is also the rare album that particularly shines as a must-hear, start to finish, in headphones. The mix is genuinely that good. If you haven't been turned onto a good Sabbath album lately, then this is the one.

No. I've searched the Internet high and low for live versions of this and he never hits or even attempts to hit the high notes. It's always a prerecorded excerp from the album or something backing singer. On every KZread video you get someone in the comments say he was sick on this gig/tour but the real reason is he was able to do it once in the studio but it was just too high for his voice to risk trying to hit it live

ridiculo decir esto pones a Ozzy que no canta una mierda y lo poco que canta es completamente plano como ejemplo de alcanzar las notas altas como en estudio cuando es sabido que hace bajar las tonalidades de las canciones para poder cantar y ni asi.
