So I'm the one that requested N.I.B. and after seeing your reaction I was trying to figure out a way to apologize yet get you to have the faith to try another song. I suggested that song because very few had reacted to it despite it being a major hit. The song was supposed to be about Lucifer finding true love be with a woman. It was actually a twisted love song.Sabbath usually has the devil and God in their songs but they aren't satanic. I wanted to see you explore a new genre like I have explored hip-hop since subscribing to your channel. So happy you gave them another chance. Anyhow I should have given you warpigs for Sabbath and I highly recommend you start with Tennessee whiskey by Chris Stapleton when you step into country music. You will be blown away if you don't know him. Wishing you continued growth and success.

AyeJay I want to help you understand what this song is about. It’s about a Christian trying to convert someone they think is a easy target. From that person point of view. So that is why it’s very Preachy. Its basically a song about people who give religion a bad name. I never can get my head around why people don’t Understand the very obvious anti-brainwashing message.

@@shspurs1342 It's actually a pro-Christian/God song. Just read what Geezer Butler (who wrote it) had to say. It was a reaction to a lot of the paint thrown against hard rock about being Satan worshipers....and closer to home....the situation in Northern Ireland.

These guys came from a jazz and blues background (you can definitely hear their jazz background in the second half of Air Dance). The drummer, Bill Ward, had swing that most of his contemporaries lacked. If you want to hear some of his better drumming, check out Supernaut, The Wizard, War Pigs (studio version, lyric video), and Hand of Doom. Those songs show off some of his best playing.

Black Sabbath? Bill Ward? Supernaut. Pencils down, pass your papers to the front. Master of Reality is a response to the US leg of the first Sabbath tour in the US. They *really* took a beating for the "satanic" content of the material on the first album and they felt compelled to put an end to the weirdos who were protesting at their shows. If you dive deep down the Black Sabbath rabbit hole you'll learn that Tony drove the content of the songs they put out and for all that he was very much inspired by the darker side of spiritual beliefs. Geezer was more than happy to put lyrics to Tony's inspirations. Ozzy's gift was arrangement. He has an ear for the flow of a song and where breaks and changes should come and go. Being an 'old school' metalhead from back when this stuff was new, Bill Ward is definitely one of my top 5 drummers of all time. And I think of him more of a percussionist than a drummer, and that's crystal clear in Supernaut. Not suggesting you do a video but give it a listen and groove on some serious cocaine fueled dizzbusting from the early 1970s.

So he had to modify his guitar by *detuning His guitar by making the strings loosen. " giving the guitar a darker sound. Keep in mind that was 48 years ago. Black Sabbath is 100% gimmick in the best way possible. They were outside of their rehearsal space which was across the street from a movie theater that was playing the movie "Black Sabbath" Geezer Butler says, isn't it weird how people line up to get the shit scared out of them. This moment created their identity and they started to write horror themed music. People loved, people hated but more importantly, people noticed.

It's alright (pun not intended). Being young is not a disease and you do grow out of it. NIB is a very deep cut full of images that need explanation. After Forever is not a horror vibe but the Good News set to a ROCKIN vibe. BTW: it's brave of you to put uncut, honest reactions on here for all the world to see. Not sure I could have been that honest at your age. Legend has it it was Ozzy's dad's reaction to the imagery and some troublemakers that showed up after the first album and ruined the fun that inspired this song and the crosses (worn right-side up). The boys were creating art, not trouble. Fun, not mayhem. "It was all the record producers fault" with the promotional bullshit that got out of hand. Edit: liked and subscribed.

I thought NIB was supposed to be about how a girl had to give up (kill) her dreams and choices (at the time) and move from living under her father's rules to her husband's rules whether she really chooses or not. A liberation message hidden inside the lurid imagery to confuse the squares. Enticing a woman to place herself in the legal custody of a man who might beat her in a country where divorce and birth control were still controversial. It was subversive art to poke at the "time honored tradition."

AyeJay. Ain't no such thing as being 'wrong'. Like you repeated.....it's your opinion. It's your perception. No real right or wrong. But you did pick a great track from (MY opinion) one of their best albums. I happen to like 'NIB', but hey.....that's just me (lol). Keep rocking!

Aye Jay, you like rap music. Well, heres a song by an old white geezer that may inspire you, John Cooper Clarke "Evidently Chickentown". You may have heard it as it was used on the very last episode of The Sopranos. The final shots as it fades to black and the soundtrack is "Evidently CHickentown". I advise you to watch a version with the lyrics available or you will lose the thread. The words come thick and fast and funny. They paint a picture of hell on earth ( just somewhere very bleak, nothing to do with the devil or hell), a place in Manchester, England.

Sabbath never celebrated evil or satan they just pointed out that evil exist. Just be aware........Just because they spoke of it so many assumed they were it, but preachers do they same thing everyday....

Simplify for you Geezer Butler is the bassist for Black Sabbath - he wrote the lyrics - he is a Christian and he is clearly stating the Christ is the only way to salvation - NOT that whomever you worship is OK
