At 66 years. I have seen the change. It started when the welfare state started. Removed the father from the home. It'd a sad state of affairs, what this country has become. We need less government more taking care of our families

@@There348 you have great discernment skills. I have found out this racial hate pushed by our own black people hurt our own intellectual growth, instead of attending school and learning on concentrating on education; students are instead looking for ways they can say something's racist. Remember how people used to say you won't use certain subjects out of school? Well that's just not true much of the stuff we learn in school is used today especially related to mathematics and science.

The word discrimination has been widdled down to one meaning. When every single person discriminates every day of their lives. We're discriminant when we purchase something, picking a partner, deciding what to eat, and on and on. If you didn't discriminate in your life, then you would except everything and anything that came along. Discrimination does not mean racist, or prejudice. It has an extremely wide meaning.

That is frightening!!! His demeanor, personality, intelligence, and how compassionate and understanding he comes across with Jesse...young people when presented a view from someone like this could easily be swayed to that particular way of thinking. He is more influential than the angry radicals. Luckily most militants on the left are not so well spoken and smooth. He presents a well thought out way of delivering information. Hi Van, Your videos and comments are very engaging and thought-provoking. My family came to the US in the 1800’s from Europe because they were starving and poor and uneducated. America offered an opportunity to work and raise families. It wasn’t until my mothers generations that our family became middle-class. Both my grandfathers were farmers in land they rented, and barely survived. They strongly encouraged their children to get an education so they didn’t have to do hard physical work til they die. This is my “white” heritage in the United States. I’m not rich but comfortable, I’m sure my ancestors would be so pleased that their progeny had finally realized their dreams and hopes. I am very very grateful for all my predecessors for hard work 🙏🏼

Forgiving people who have harmed you, in general, is a good thing. Holding onto anger from an injustice is only holding yourself back. Someone is holding space rent free in your life, and they don’t care one bit. Forgive, learn from what occurred, and try to keep from a repeat experience with the situation that caused harm. I can’t imagine holding onto an injustice from the past that I didn’t even experience. When was the last time an actual person who was a slave, actually alive? As far as the Jim Crow laws, yes, they should have been tossed aside… they were inherently going against the constitution. Extra laws to create more rights for one color over another, is racist. The laws that mandate quotas etc, are racist toward other races, especially those of Asian decent. (They have to be perfect and are still tossed to the side for someone who is black and didn’t work nearly as hard in school… just look at requirements of Universities for admission. It’s crazy).

Van, you made me jump out of my seat when you said, “C’mon man. You’re making yourself small.”, and what I’m sure you meant after that was that he was making himself small to appear as the victim that needs his argument to carry validity because he’s the victim. THAT right there is the entire core of the greatest problem that Jesse argument zeros in on. When he says that racism doesn’t exist, just evil, it’s pretty obvious that he is contending that any act of discrimination not based on character alone and for reasons of color, ethnicity, or any other physical attribute is just evil. It’s not OK to act and interact with other humans of like attributes in a cordially respectful and pleasant way, then on the flip side be vile and dis-compassionate to others because of their race or ethnicity. As a summary of what I think Jesse really means is, just because you have the capacity to be kind accordingly in certain circumstances doesn’t mean you’re simply racist, you’re evil and that’s the all encompassing reasoning. For what Jesse sees as reasonable to inspire a more unified perception of all humanity as one, I totally get it. Being racist is simply one attribute that automatically drops you into the category of evil, full stop. It does make logical sense as an attempt to drop the concept of racist as a stand-alone attribute in favor of creating a mind set of total equality regardless of race or ethnicity. But at the point we are at in our socio-economic circumstance, it is definitely very important to isolate the definitions of the term racism and show the opportunistic distortions being applied to that term in order to use it as a political weapon used by those in positions of power to sway and group folks into victimhood for personal and political gain. At this point, the left has quite effectively sliced off that aspect of the definition of evil and made it its own cottage industry. Racism and exploiting the emotional value of it is a career for a lot of folks and if the concept of racism was to be diminished down and fully absorbed into the term evil, it would lose its luster as a viable promotional moniker for those that use the emotional inspiration of the idea of racism as a tool of commerce in support of the concept of victimhood. I have to tell you Van, I like the way you listen to and hear the content detail in these interviews my friend. You pick up on the most vital points of contention that so many of these folks that traffic in the whole victimhood mentality use as their tools of the trade and ripe them open quite effectively. I’m telling you my friend, keep doing what you’re doing as hard and as often as you’re doing now. You are answering extremely logical questions, OUT LOUD, that many folks may ponder briefly, but once someone comes along and rubs that emotion button again, all logic break away from the dock and floats away in the current. It’s important that you keep reacting with clearly explained honesty as a reinforcement letting folks know it’s actually OK to challenge the words of others if it doesn’t sit right with you. My guess is that if you keep on track the way you are, you are going to be a very identifiable voice in the waking up of a lot of folks stuck in that victimhood mindset that dragging down far too many folks in the black community. I honestly pray for a day all of that BS gets washed away. Maybe you are one that can help that happen!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻

I grew up, a White girl in the 60s, in a majority Black neighborhood and school. I was witness to a type of culture among Black kids that when I grew up, I finally understood its consequences. The culture that I witnessed, that as an adult I understood explained the reason WHY many Black people seemed to remain at a certain level that they could not rise above, was this: In school, I was a good student. I studied hard, raised my hand in class and asked questions, did well on tests and got good grades. The Black kids, on the other hand, would actually MAKE FUN of each other if they did their homework, if they raised their hands, if they got good grades, they would actually BULLY each other for those things, saying, "Aw Uncle Tom, quit tryna be WHITE!! What's wrong with you, you love WHITEY??" So, I have to disagree with the "White racist power structure" that supposedly kept Black people down - the hidden secret to the phenomenon is found within the Black culture - they deliberately KEPT EACH OTHER DOWN. They deliberately DID NOT STUDY, DID NOT MAKE GOOD GRADES, WOULD NOT PARTICIPATE IN CLASS the way other races of kids did, and in bullying each other, they ensured that as adults, they would not be equipped for the same opportunities for success as other races might. I witnessed this first hand and it never made any sense to me, because I loved school and there was nothing racist about getting good grades and working toward success, but Black kids very evidently had a stigma about achieving that kind of excellence, simply because of the racism within their own minds. They actually equated excellence and success with "Whitey" and considered it to be shameful and undesirable. But in my 61 years, I have NEVER heard one Black person admit that this was a way of life in Black culture. Instead, White people are blamed. Because of this culture of limiting excellence, testing and academics in schools was even geared to lesser requirements, as if Black kids weren't capable of the same kind of excellence, so the academic requirements had to be lessened - but there's no difference in the levels of academic ability between Black kids and other races - it is the academically limiting culture among Black kids that is to blame. Nobody ever talks about this, but in my childhood it was COMMONPLACE, and I thought it was just SAD. All those kids grew up to be adults. This culture was very prevalent in the city of Columbus, Ohio, and not just at that school - my older brothers and sisters went to different schools where it was the same, and there was also a culture of violence against White students, and I assume in other cities as well. Do you think those Black kids went to college and achieved levels of success based upon higher education? Do you think they studied business and became entrepreneurs, were able to buy homes and achieve economic security? The attitudes that led to failure are buried in the culture, did it start at home? Did parents fail them? When did success and excellence become something "White" and be considered a negative thing? And in the schools I went to, I was bullied by Black kids, but when I went to majority White schools with a small population of Black kids, they were not bullied by White kids in the same degree, it just wasn't done. Why the difference? This blame - to me it would be like the Black kids from my childhood blaming ME because they refused to achieve excellence based on their own prejudices. It's TRAGIC and inane.

I was born early 1960's and am a white woman. My school was around 50% black/white. I didn't see what you are talking about. Was that happening in the higher grades? We moved right before 6th grade so I don't know about that. The kids in school all got along, no one was smarter than anyone else, there were kids that didn't do too good but I think it was a home issue. I think one kid was being hit by his dad. Another kid was mentally slow and shouldn't have been in the class.i never heard any kids say bad things about anyone cuz everyone would have told them to shut up.
