"BLACK PEARL" Ship Model Kit by ZVEZDA scale 1/72 + Modifications

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

To celebrate the 5th movie of Pirates of the Caribbean series "Dead Men Tell no Tales", i purchased a Black Pearl ship kit that i recently found "existed". I can't say enough thank you to the company Zvezda that they made a fictional ship model for POTC fans. This is a level 5 model kit, advanced (that's what they said and i had to agree with them). Great kit, great model, needed modifications on some parts but everything else are nice.
I do not own the music and clips in this video, it's all the property of Disney and music composers.

    For anyone wondering, this is the 'Revell Pirate Ship 1/72', with some alternative parts added. If you look at the standard Revell Pirate Ship parts, you can see that the added Black Pearl parts are a bit less in quality (which is fine). But I would not put this kit at a solid level 5, since most of the paintwork is in a single color and the original Revell model has a much.. MUCH more complicated color scheme. This does not take away from the fact that I ABSO-LUTELY LOVE this build. Just that if you wanted to build this, but couldn't find where to buy this, just buy the Revell Pirate Ship 1/72, and start making some modifications yourself to make it what you want it to be! I love your build man, well done! Subscribed 👍

    Amazing work on that kit! And i love the "modifications" you did to her. I am working on her currently as well - and the wrong wall for the Captain´s Kajüte just keep´s ticking me off. But unfortunately i am by now too far in the build as to be able to change it, unless i take the whole thing back apart - but that seem´s impossible and stupid. Anyway, fantastic work and attention to detail on your side :D

    - The black is just regular matt black spray paint - I don't use airbrush, i don't think it's necessary because you don't need precision to paint this ship - I just used regular acrylic paint for the weathering and the white marks are just diluted acrylic paint. • @SenoEricKrueger

    @SenoEricKrueger

    5 жыл бұрын

    Filmsparks i didn’t record any of the process, I’m sorry this video is not a tutorial but simply just showing steps, there are too many to record but i can tell you how to do it and you can find some painting techniques on KZread because that’s how i do it. The modding has no special technique, it’s just something i put together like modding the stairs steps are made out of cardboard, measuring, matching it with the blue prints i found online, all that stuffs. Also read some references from the Black Pearl by Pete Coleman, search it on google. Painting is started with base color which is black. The next color is depends on what color you want. The deck started of with black spray, then you brush paint it with brown and then some light brown, weathering it by dry brushing some sand color, it’s just the matter of how you build the layers with dry brush and runny paint brush. You have to master 3 painting techniques, regular brushing, dry brushing and wet brushing (runny paint). There are no rules to paint this ship, just get the right color and avoid evenness, you don’t want the color to be even. You want it dingy, dirty, and disgusting looking ship

  • @mrmrgaming

    Seno Charles Krueger awesome! Good to know! I just got the kit today from Russia through the mail! I am so exited to start working on it, btw when exactly does one start to do the paint job? That’s where I am kind of confused, is it while assembling parts, before assembling, after assembling? My mind just spins when I think about it

    Ricky there are some parts that you have to paint before and while assembling. Small parts like the canons i spray painted on the sprues because it’s so small and then I assemble it and weathered it. The captain windows I assemble first and then painted after. Like i said, it depends on which way you think is easier. I’ve assembled 13 ship models before I assembled this big ship so I’ve learnt the stages from my own experiences

    Very curious, the movie Dead men Tell no Tales shows the steering wheel on the back of the mechanism. They stand on the rear of it to face forward while steering. My 1:150 scale model shows installation the same as this one - backwards. I turned mine around to match the movie, so the one steering faces front 😁 Some ships have two wheels on the mechanism, like the British frigate, but the Pearl only one, at the rear. Does everyone just blindly build to included instructions? With your awesome details, I just thought this curious.

    There are so many things wrong with The Black Pearl in POTC 5, included the steering wheel and i hated that movie so I don’t want to build anything based on that movie. I want to match The Black Pearl as i saw in POTC 2, that’s the real Black Pearl! And also If you remember the maelstrom scene in POTC 3, Barbossa steering the wheel not from the side but exactly facing the wheel. This is one of the detail that i believe POTC 5 flawed in. It’s a mistake that you follow anything in POTC 5, The Black Pearl in that movie is terrible
