I do like how M'Baku doesn't immediately fall in line with Shuri. Instead, he tests her, sees if she has what it takes to take up the mantle. And when she proves that she does, he's behind her 100%

It was the informal challenge needed to confirm Shuri was truly Black Panther. I love the way he handled the challenge and then backed her loyally. M'Baku is such a wonderful character. He is loyal to the nation and ready to step up whenever he has to do it...and he never forgets the importance of Black Panther.

Well, he might be the only one who can attest to Black Panther's true strength. Since he might be Wakanda's most powerful warrior second to Black Panther, he is the perfect guy to test Shuri. Not only to confirm if Shuri was able to recreate the herb's power but also her determination.

T’Challa could match his strength without the herb, Shuri needed the herb,makes no sense.

I love the emotional weight behind this scene. In spite of everything she has gone through, she finally chooses to take on the Black Panther title so she can protect her kingdom. Though she has been influenced by Killmonger, I still find this scene very inspiring.

The first time T’chala took the herb, he saw what he needed to be, the second time he took it, it showed him exactly what he needed to do. When Killmonger took it, it showed him why he was doing all of these things… Killmonger showing up to shuri was her weakness being expunged from her so she can have the killer instinct needed to become a true black Panther. He helped her become the savage she needed to be in order to show Namor that their legends are true: if the black Panther comes after you… you might be fucked.

Wakanda chose to hide and not help other African countries that were invaded by the colonisers. They saved the white CIA agent who used blood diamonds to buy the vibranium Claw stole from air conditioned warehouse of LOOT aka british museum. That coloniser shot those planes from leaving. Kilmonger had every right to be angry as his uncle left him alone after killing his dad. Kilmonger survived the racist systems in Divided Snakes of Amerikkka. Both movies were trash and just written for colonisers.

I love that the Elders laid hands on her to bless her, at least that was MY interpretation.

That, plus when she closes her eyes, I imagine she’s thinking of her family (brother, mother and father) in that moment, as if she’s taking on the mantle in their honour.

Ludwig Göransson dropped an amazing score with this scene. The chills were epic then and even now

My theater erupted seeing the black panther return. Think it was like two hours in and we were all thirsting for black panther to come back😂 It’s a bit like spiderman 2 with Tobey not being spiderman for like an hour and then when he came back everybody also cheered

Best damn scene in the movie. From the way she falls through the air and lands to their initial reaction to Shuri to M’ Baku getting up and testing her strength to him realizing she IS the next Black Panther and everyone celebrating her. Truly an electrifying scene that gives me chills

I love the M’Baku character. He is perfect to be king until Shuri finds her path. The performances in this movie were fantastic.

It’s just something about the elders walking towards her to give her their prayers and blessings that gets to me. 😢

Emotion behind the scene makes it more intense

1:21 the Jabari were cheering for Shuri to be the Panther, and that means something because they worship the great gorilla 🦍. This scene has so many layers to it.

I loved that Shuri was at a crossroads in this film between her grief and want for revenge. It was believable and she did an outstanding job. THIS sequence was a masterclass in editing. Shuri and M’baku clasping hands; M’baku grunting at her just before they did. The Lionesses getting ready to throw hands. u could feel Shuri’s determination, amplified by that crashing electric guitar. The only person that was gonna stop her was her. And the way she stepped to M’baku was hard as woodpecker lips. Bravo. Edit: and she was the smallest person in the room.😂😂😂😂😂

I was looking for this comment. The music and acting gave me chills after all these years.

When the music drops when Shuri jumps from the plane, I still remember everyone in my theater applaud, clapping their hands. So was I. Shuri's Theme still gave me chills to this day. I really loved Letitia Wright's performance in this! For Chadwick!

Bro the theme song is phenomenal, M'baku weighing her up is solid, Elders praying for her is key....just a masterpiece ❤

I remember seeing this scene in theaters when Shuri jump out the aircraft and she's wearing the new Black Panther suit, everyone in the theaters cheer. When M'baku yelled this line, "The Black panther Lives!" Everyone the theaters cheer!

Its nano tech it absorbs the energy hence the purple glow and can save it to produce a sonic wave in a way as shown in the first film with tchalla and when she fights namor later on and it was strong enough to break the boulder he shoves her to.

Still get chills! Music top notch

I love the show of strength Shuri put on M'Baku almost blowing his muscle fibers out and she's like 😐

This entrance is superb l have watched it many times.

Soundtrack gives me massive Batman beyond vibes

Love how the Dora Milaje were kind of moving in to defend Shuri when M’baku stood up. They literally were ready to fuck him up if he tried anything. Overall, this scene was fantastic

Outside of the killmonger cameo this was definitely one of the hardest scenes

It wouldn't have because N'Jadaka was, and is, still carrying the hurt from having his father (and really his identity) taken from him when he was a child. He wouldn't have fought Namor, because Namor was bent on doing exactly what he wanted to do, at least to start. Beyond that, the herb is still toxic to anyone not of the line of Bashenga; he was from 6000 bc, but the simple truth is that his lineage wasn't made universal in the 8000+ years since his time. You do a mass ingestion (of an herb that was limited before Shuri was able to synthesize it), and you end up with mass death of elite warriors
