They didn’t even fully check and fix there own cutscenes before letting them out. Like in IX the weird shadow dude with the halberd just blinks out of existence for like 30 frames but the axe is still there.

If Classified and 9 were the only launch maps, I’m almost certain zombies would be in a different place today

That would have helped, I still feel like activision messed up with the elixirs as microtransactions instead of gobble and then the perk system is brutal. I legit do not play a game of bo4 zombies without staminup as modifier. I try winter wail, dying wish, quick revive, victorious tortoise, etc, but I always find that if I wanna go far, I need stam in modifier. They didn’t remove crutch perks they just made new ones while making the first 10 rounds even more easy then they already were on bo1 for example

The perk and preset system killed it for me. What I love about zombies is that you can play it and progress through the match, I don’t like having to start and stop games to unlock stuff

@austin bevis fr, like the point of zombies is to grow more powerful as you go, starting with a really good gun + a wonder weapon kills the progression. Cold War made it worst in terms of starting guns, but at least they suck ass pretty quickly.

@Callum loader yeah they just fucked everything up. Should've kept the game pretty much identical to bo3 in terms of mechanics and it would've been a home run. The maps are pretty good for the most part, and casuals would have an easier time as they're just overwhelmed with info upon starting the game with shit all over their screen.

I also appreciate the duality of the map titles between Nacht and Tag, but I also love how the trophy for completing Tag’s Easter egg is called “Salvation Lies Above” and the description says “In Tag Der Toten, Ascend From Darkness.” Since those were the two messages scrawled on the walls in Nacht

It's just too bad it doesn't make any sense since our heroes never got to ascend and just died.

I remember having a fun head cannon: since monty was no longer supporting the primis crew he didn't help with the gums (which were made using monty elixir) and I remember hearing that he moves the perks along with the crew each map so same there hence the new perk system

Even if Monty does or does not control the perks I think the change of perks works. Though I don’t like the system but story wise if the Kronorioum (sorry if I spelled that wrong) changed who knows what else could’ve changed. The Kronorium can talk about how all these perks came into existence now.

The only downside that winters wail has is that the timer is so ridiculously long. I honestly think that they are practically the same, just different themes

Tag der Toten was already hinted as the final Map of the aether in Revelations. There is a cypher talking about how they found a snowy and cold place where Monty can't watch them. There is also a truck in the origins part of the Map with an audio, if you listen to it, it's the coordinates of tag der toten.

I love the fact that the Aether Story began with a map called Natch Der Untoten and ended with a map calledTag Der Toten.

I have spent countless hours on IX getting to high rounds with randoms while listening to music or podcasts, using ethereal razor with the modifier so I don't have to ever worry about ammo, constantly reviving the randoms with the Staff of Ra so they keep their perks every time, and even using specialist elixirs so i always have the staff. For this alone it's my favorite zombies

Buried also pretty much the best Solo zombies experience, wish they would’ve remastered it. But that’s what he said in the video, this zombie’s experience is turn your brain off and get to a high round (unless you want to do Easter eggs ofc) it wasn’t challenging what so ever and that’s what zombies had been built on for a decade atp, very weird shift imo. Having mechanical skill all of a sudden didn’t matter just If you had your specialist (which you always did), the self revive perk (made no sense to split it into two perks, quick revive had no issues just leave it as is) a wonder weapon, and any gun of your choosing (damn near no bad guns) packed a bunch of times. Nothing really mattered anymore, and a lot of people didn’t like that. But if you wanna not think playing zombies, this is the experience for you ie chilling while watching something or listening to something.

Despite how the game was at launch, I find bo4 to be a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it’s not as good as the previous titles, but I still find fun running around doing the IX Easter egg(except the skull step screw the skull step.) I feel like people would like bo4 more if the perk system was exclusive to the Chaos storyline.

Bo4 has the opposite problem to Cold War imo, the maps were interesting concepts but often poorly executed whereas Cold War's maps were well executed but limited in their success due to how safe and boring the concepts were. It can be seen with the engine's well, Bo4's engine was just plain bad and unnecessarily complicated and Cold War's was good but suffered from blurring the lines between zombies and multiplayer too much leading to the game mode feeling bland or unmemorable overall, idk just my opinion and love to see the quality content still coming out Tim

You’re spot on. BO4 felt like the usual zombies we know and love, but was poor. While CWZ felt too much like Multiplayer/Warzone and was boring and soulless, but wasn’t exactly bad, but was very far from good.

I recently reinstalled BO4, despite having never actually played it back when it came out, and have been having a blast on Zombies. And the daily contracts let me earn crates and nebulum which felt nice since I didn’t feel like I had to spend money. Is it the best zombies experience? No. Is it my favorite zombies experience? Not quite. But I do really enjoy my time whenever I boot it up to play some zombies.

However bo4 at least in my opinion is better because I don’t like custom games it doesn’t give the same feel and it doesn’t feel rewording. At least in bo4 i can play without any custom settings and enjoy myself camo grinding and going for high rounds and whatever difficulty i so choose and still earn trophies/achievements.

@@riptothehomies9263 there’s plenty of problems with bo3 starting with the fact that if you dont have a certain things unlocked early on your screwed. Bubblegums are random coming out of the machine, bubblegums machines are annoying especially when you need one and cant get to it in time. The list goes on, bo3 is trash without custom.

BO4 should’ve been the best zombies game we received after BO3. The hype leading up to the release of the game, especially the Blood of the Dead trailers we got. The comics hinting at a mob of the dead comeback, all for it to just end up being a lackluster rushed game. It could’ve been the best imo.

That was mainly activison a fault since they rushed them to release the game before red dead redemption 2 came out so they didn’t have to compete,their budget was huge but the community complained so much and raven and sledgehammer couldn’t get their shot together for Cold War,that made it easier for activision to take the remaining budget and send it to Cold War zombies,it was a mix of activison and the community that ruined bo4 and cgi endings

As a big mythology guy I love that after voyage they went nuts with the trearch spin on a bunch of myths and legends but the main problems with the aether maps are just a lot (A LOT) of mostly recycled things

Activision robbed us of a proper finale to one of the best and longest running stories in gaming. If they had any courage they'd retcon it and do it right.

I think part of the reason chaos timeliness never had a chance is because we grew up with the original story line and we all have it in such regards because of the nostalgia it brings us and because of that no matter how good it could of been it will never live up to the original

Honestly I think if they didn’t do their whole perk overhaul for this game it would probably be my favorite. Chaos story was a blast to play and I’m surprised to say that I wish there wasn’t any aether maps in the game whatsoever. Having the 2 base game chaos maps and 4 dlc maps to flesh it out would’ve been FANTASTIC and I’m still kinda pissed they dropped it

Black ops 4 was a controversial game but I think we can all look back on it and think “at least it wasn’t Vanguard.” Black ops 4 aged relatively well. It changed a lot and there were some duds in terms of maps, but there was a lot of fun to be had still. Unlike Der Anfang

The Great War was never meant to be a map tho what people don’t realize is the Great War takes place at the same time as origins which ia both the ending and beginning of the cycle,also the crew didn’t fight in it as they were busy in origins,so a Great War map would never work since it’s both the beginning and ending of the cycle,that would make the story never progress and stay in the infinite cycle

Personally I enjoyed everything about Bo4 zombies except for the perk system, that was its one major downfall for me. That and it doesn’t feel like zombies with shit all over the HUD, if I could disable the stupid talismans or the elixirs whatever they’re called and get that off my screen as well as use the old perk system, the game would’ve been like a 8-8.5/10 for me (the maps were somewhat lackluster imo there was literally no new maps for the Primis storyline they literally only remade maps). It sucks to think of what could’ve been being ruined because treyarch thought they needed to innovate just to innovate /:

So wrong about Voyage of Despair. It's underrated AF. You have open training on the decks, close quarters indoors, spacious training in the water-filled ends, various camping strats, gorgeous sky box, portals galore, and deep + numerous EEs for replayability.

Honestly don't understand the hate on the map voyage, I get it the amount of catalyst zombies are annoying and Honestly suck but that shouldn't change people's opinion of the map itself. I find that people that hate voyage love cold war which goes to show that they didn't like the difficulty of voyage/bo4 in general meaning that most of the time they just weren't good enough to beat the maps and blamed it on the game itself instead of their skill level. I just say to them "The game isn't bad, you are."

I feel like people were just too harsh on Voyage

I love these types of videos Tim! I was even inspired by you to make a whole video called The Rise and Fall of Call of Duty Zombies

When you think about it Voyage is symbolic to Blundell jumping ship before zombies got worse and it did get worse. If only we’d knew the horrors that awaited us in the future. Perhaps we treated BO4 to harshly.

We didn't treat BO4 bad. It has always been Tim, Lex and Noah who keep spreading hate on BO4 and kept people from buying it including me. At least I changed my mind and I understood that their crying is just cringe. Look at Lex, he made 5 videos on why BO4 is bad but guess what? He has streamed more BO4 than Cold War during Cold War cycle. People copy these bad opinions and don't realise how nice BO4 was.

Ngl this game has really grown on me, once I got over how different the system is I really enjoy it now, I loved the multiplayer as well

I love watching Tim's reviews. I use them as background noise when I play.

The PHD flopper rename makes sense though cause flopper doesn't make sense when you slide and not flop

150 on its own without being able to increase your durability makes it hard, but spawning in with Jug and a wonder weapon makes you a god automatically no progression or improvement

The ending to the Chaos story was really frustrating. Really wanted to see more of them

As much as people disliked bo4 zombies I’m the opposite I still love it but everyone has their own opinions

There's an alternate timeline where all dlc maps were chaos and that great war map happens in Cold War

@@tomallison1098 no. The story lead up to breaking the cycle. The great war was the beginning of the reset cycle. Going to the great war would be going through the cycle again.

@@Harigan how does it make no sense narratively tho? I know that the end of aether was leading to breaking the cycle, but don’t you think it’d be interesting to witness what happened during the Great War? I wish we atleast got a nice cinematic cutscene or something instead of a motion comic.

I actually really enjoyed BO4 it was unique and different to the other titles. The chaos zombies maps like Ancient Evil and Dead of the Night are super underrated in my opinion and were really good maps. I didn’t hate the perk system like most people did and thought it was a cool idea. The hud didn’t really bother me like it did other people as well. I still go back to play this game once in a while. I also liked blackout, I play it with my sister when we both have time and aren’t working.

That's such a crappy shield but I can't say you are wrong nor can I say you are right either. There is just so much wrong with bo4 compared to previous titles but looking at it on it's own it seems fine enough. I think if a majority of people didnt follow the opinions of the youtubers they watch, bo4 would still be hated just as much. Personally, I just find it painfully bland rather than some atrocious monster other people see it as.

@@noxy281 I can guarantee there’s a lot more people than you think that never gave bo4 much of a chance just because lex was clowning on it. Like people are only being nicer to dead of the night now because lex has finally started being nicer to it The blue screens/stability was horrible and inexcusable. The maps were good aside from alpha omega, they’re just stuck in bo4’s mechanics.

Still, it is rather annoying seeing people flip a switch on their opinions when another youtuber does. I remember dead of the night being hated by absolutely everyone and being at the bottom of the barrel but now it seems people are really starting to like it.

yeah, but i really dont like the game because of the engine i think killing zombies is just so unsatisying, perks are... special in this game and some maps are just not my taste i guess tho, i think if those maps were transfered to bo3 engine or even cold war, i would never take a shower again. and i also hate how it feels like camping players are advantaged, wtf is wrong with the speed of zombies, at least you can change that with the custom games (btw, custom games and difficulty settings are the best things treyarch has ever done. change my mind.)

As a bo4 player it's rough listening to the game get put down so negatively. I genuinely enjoy and have fun on bo4 all the time

Yes, he's just been sitting on his negative points since release and he, Lex and Noah are only complaining about it. Let's see who'll lose even more views if they keep making games like Cold War.

Personnally, I feel like this last BO Zombie was a typical final of a series, with fan serving and changes made to change. Not a bad zombie in my opinion, just not the way we dreamed to end our franchise.

I been playing a ton of BO4 again and honestly I enjoy it again just as much as I did before. Its fun and a challenge . I feel like bo4 is honestly a little underrated.

Great review! I really loved Ancient Evil, IX, and Classified. Good to see those maps getting the recognition they deserve. I feel that you didn't cover how truly terrible Alpha Omega was. It has nova crawlers that throw laser projectiles at you from across the map, and zombies that move faster than you. The map is a fucking NIGHTMARE when you turn the power on. Truly a stinker map. A cool part of Classified that you didn't cover is the fact that you can upgrade a training spot (Groom Lake) into the best training spot in history by revisiting it over and over. It adds so much replayability not to mention the sheer creativity. It's a map that is underappreciated by the wider community.

One more zombies game review to go. Love your channel dude it’s been a wild ride

The best thing about BO4 Zombies had to be the death machine skin. I find it so cool looking.

I found BO4 more accessible than BO3, felt like casual's could finally get back into zombies again which they did where in BO3 they had to buy a $30-40 DLC in order to do that because none of the maps were casual friendly.

I liked bo4 zombies as well, played it for hours. But I do get what he’s saying the maps feel all over the place (yk literally from being on the titanic to going to a remastered Alcatraz) it just feels lazy. But the zombies was super fun I was mad when they got nerfed lol

People give this game WAAAAAY too much shit.

Ethereal razor is the best perk in this whole game and it's the entire reason I return to this game every now and then. Especially if you have it as the modifier. I hope one day they bring back this perk

I'm surprised you didn't mention that in the maps that aren't the chaos story the perk machines are branded as Wunderfizz and have their own jingles

After vanguard my respect for bo4 went up, I liked it before but vanguard showed me they actually tried with bo4 and made a really unique game.

There are always those who say everything after BO2 sucks and haven't played anything besides Kino anyways and those who copy the KZreadrs opinions. However, if you stream BO4 zombies you'll actually get a huge community who likes it.

I would disagree in terms of BO4 being filler. BO4's objective was not nessacarily to give a great war map, but to patch up all the plot holes in the story and give a good ending (rather than the bad revalations ending). The aether story didn't make sense without adding key details to the Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 lore that were never touched. Ultimately, a great war map could have been better for the end, but Tag's ending was satifying and felt like we could finally move on.

The problem with the great weather is 1.the crew never fought in it since they were busy at origins,2.the Great War is both the beginning and ending of the cycle so story wise it wouldn’t make sense since we never participated in it,and also if we did go it would be pointless since the cycle would just end and we would restart back at the beginning of the story

I would say that Black Ops 3 is the filler in terms of narrative, since everything goes down to “The cycle continues”.

The task wasn’t to save the boat in voyage of dispare so why would they even care

you have to appreciate how this man story tells,TIM should be the one on the activision team.

When any other 40yos hear the word "entrapment" do you also think of Sean Connery saying "that's entrapment" while CZJ is sliding under red lasers very nicely?

I loved BO4. Had some of the most fun playing zombies with my friends on there. Loved the Chaos storyline and there maps. Also I liked blackout more than warzone

Facts

Splitscreen was a nightmare in this game, while i loved that you could finally play 4 player splitscreen, imagine all those 4 players taking turns customizing their classes pre-game.. Last time i wanted to play bo4 splitscreen that was the only thing my friends & I did before we had to go out to meet the rest of our friends..

The nostalgia though… you just want to cry when you think of how primis didn’t get their happy ending like they deserved in my child eyes.

Black ops 2+ zombies was a mess. You went from a cool and creepy plausible story with faint but reasonable elements of fantasy (Time travel and teleportation) to magic wizards / aliens / 1,000 foot tall robots, ghosts, dragons, time traveling left and right like a Family guy skit, multiple universes. Zombies went from a creepy atmosphere with a neat story to something that would make a fantasy game like Skyrim think its over the top...Actually near every element in new zombies exists within Skyrim but at least thats a fantasy planet with long established lore

Nostalgia googles going hard. The neat story was enhanced with BO2+, COD zombies has waaaay more potential than the creepy atmosphere Waw-BO1 fanboys love so much. Funny how time travel and teleportation are faint (???) but the backstory of the Keepers and the Apothicons and multiple universes is Skyrim-like levels of fantasy.

I got black ops 4 for my birthday and dropped it after a day of playing but still come back to it every now and then

I think because Al(the weasel) breaks the cycle from mob causes a ripple effect which breaks the cycle for Aether crew, which is why the chronorium changes
