Celebrate June with Black Nouveau
7:30PM, THURSDAY JUNE 13, CH 10.1
June is indeed a festive month with celebrations like graduations, weddings, Juneteenth, Pride, and Black Music Month. On June's episode of Black Nouveau, James Causey converses with Chris Allen, the CEO of Diverse and Resilient, Milwaukee's premier health maintenance group for the Black LGBTQ+ community. However, much of this edition is dedicated to celebrating music. You will be introduced to Wisconsin artist Raven who performs her original song for Milwaukee PBS's Rhythm Café MKE. We will reminisce about the scholar ladies from Hope Christian Academy, and I will converse with Dayvin Hallmon regarding his concert of black music scheduled for June 14th at Washington Park. We initiate this journey with a profile of Mel Johnson, who aspires to make classical music more accessible to composers of color.
