The camera control is like that of GOW so you can see the full body of big bosses, which is different from Elden Ring.

The Devs has state before that Black Myth Wukong was inspired by God of War and Sekiro. This 2 game push them to create their own "mythical protagonist action game". So in a sense, Black Myth Wukong is a full on action game, not really a Soulslike (Sekiro indeed made by the same people who make Soulsgame, but Sekiro game is more of a pure action adventure game, only the difficulty of the game that resemble Soulslike).

I don’t want it to be a soulslike, hopefully it’s a thing of its own on.

People put too much value in open world games. A lot of open space with a bunch of nothing in it. I’d rather have a game that’s fun from beginning to end than have a repetitive open world experience.

You can just as easily have repetitive linear levels ... I don't see how Elden Ring being an open world made it better. I really am getting bored with decisions of where to go. I'd like the experience to be more focused than what we get. Having easy access to items lying on the ground in the open world (that you can ride up to and pick up without engaging in combat) is just crap. I feel the need to collect them, but it is also very busy work, not engaging gameplay. To me, interconnected worlds like Dark Souls are the best balance. Exploration is rewarded, but there are finite paths to take, each of which offers a challenge. There is also less busy work here than on a wide open map.

@@gediminasmorkys3589 what you described is called exploration, not combat. What you want is a conflict and reward. You are comparing to different distinct play styles. People like sense of agency and open world provides it, hence why game is hit. Also in elden ring there are tons of places that are linear. There are many important items that you can't just grab, you have to deal with certain boss and puzzle. The nature of open world game demands you to find those things, if you feel overwhelmed then only focus on one small area. If it's not your taste then it simply isn't, that doesn't make the game any bad or good.

I don't mind linear or semi-linear world design at all - sometimes I can find open world games tiresome, compromising, and monotonous. By the way, is the background music from the official soundtrack? I like it.

Man, I'm so excited for this game lol I don't care what genre it is. It looks great.

Geeze I hope the game will be challenging or have a hard mode. They make it sound like they're making the game easy to appease all the folks complaining about souls likes, which really aren't thaaaat hard folks. Knowledge and exploration is power. "Come back later or change up your build" is the answer to almost every boss.

I've played Asterigos: Curse of the Stars in the easiest difficulty mode. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice also has branching skill trees while the Nioh duology and Wolong: Fallen Dynasty have a linear level design. But I get it how Black Myth: Wukong is a unique game in its own right.

Same with Where Winds Meet its not a souls game at all even their devs said to too!

I love how gamers who are into soulslike games feel superior over others lol. Not everyone wants to play overly difficult games, dying after 2 hits, getting re-spawned at the beginning of the level and losing all progress.

Yup enemies with heavy tracking, ridiculously high damage & deathly status effects, that's Souls games. I really hate the heavy enemy tracking in games its so lazy, oh it doesn't matter that u dodged, the enemy just magically rotates to hit u, lazy ass enemy design like that has to go.

That's cool if they aren't for you, but their reputation is worse than the reality. Have you tried any? They really aren't that hard after you learn what they are about and learn how to explore and come back later to tough bosses, upgrade your weapons and not just stubbornly fight stuff thats OP. Once you learn to just go elsewhere or run through areas its not so tough. Sure it's tough sometimes but usually knowledge makes it much easier and death leads to knowledge. With a bit of knowledge it's possible to go pretty far without dying that often or rarely and it's not a big deal.

I hate soulslike games since after a long day of work last thing I need is more work trying out all that you have said. I rather simply pour myself some drink, put some music on the background and simply lay back and relax. The consensus among the developers that “soulslike=wider playerbase” is making it so that players like me play games from 2015 to find anything entertaining

Was really hyped about this game because of the combat but it’s looking like I’ll play it when it’s on sale because I’ll probably never finish it. Fromsoft has ruined my ability to like games.

I’m so happy about the difficulty option. I’ve try to play souls games but it’s to hard never able to enjoy. I want to play Elden ring but I don’t buy it cause I know it’s hard it looks like a great game. I’m exited for BMW

Not really, it doesn't require gear farming. Gears will be unlocked by beating bosses and exploring maps.

Idk why people act like dark souls is actually successful cause it’s hard it successful cause of great and extremely creative enemy and area design the game just happens to be difficult the difficulty of dark souls wouldn’t matter if the enemies you overcome weren’t these grand beast with backstories and lore and if you’re not from soft if you can’t achieve that

Sounds like the devs are so caught up on trying to be different that they may choose objectively worse game mechanics and features over mimicking the game studio that nurtured the genre and continues to excel in it. Who cares if it’s considered a soul-likes. It looks like one, and it will absolutely be compared to fromsoft games no matter how hard they try. If it delivers, it may be in the ranks with Lies of P, if it doesn’t, well, I’ll stick to the 10 other rpg games fromsoft has masterfully crafted.

For now open world is the only way to go.

tbh, I don't mind a striaght forward story. tbh I hate the style of narrative souls game have, I don't like to read and explore the tiny details to piece together and then assume what story could be. I have a bad memory as well so I forget. plus it breaks the pace of the game for me. I only enjoy souls games for it's gameplay. Not the fan of their story and graphics. Reasons why I enjoyed lies of P more.

People want to spam R1 and ignore all boss mechanics😊. Imagine playing a game, immerse urself in it, fight a giant ape fire god, and crying its hard. Where yhe logic in that? Having somth to easy gets the novelty down to 0 because you can beat it spamming 1 button. But hey, we are diverse as humans.
