If you look closely, the kid outside was wearing blue khaki shorts 🩳. The other one was wearing complete athletic gear. I think that’s why the other kid was eating outside. He should have just told them to eat outside. Nonetheless, he violated the dress code and that’s why they were rejected.

@Juju the restaurant doesn’t hold to your argument, otherwise they would not have placed 2 managers on leave and apologised saying, “this should never have happened.” If there was legitimately a dress code for minors, they would have mentioned it. the fact that he couldn't let go of his ego and continuously tried to find a reason is problematic. If he continued then he would have said it's because he had on black shorts and not blue. That's the issue with prejudice and the ego. It is hard to let go of the ego in the moment. Prejudice can be so indoctrinated that it is normal and we see nothing wrong with it unless we have an epiphany, revelation and introspect on our actions. The ego is so prideful that it is difficult to admit we were wrong instead of releasing the ego and apologizing. He knew he was wrong as soon as she mentioned the other kid's attire.

The stupid manager ended his own career.

His mum wasn't turned away though. Did the other kid's shirt have a bunny on it? By athletic they could be referring to sports such as basketball. Basketball is a lower class sport whereas tennis (hence the shoes) is seen as a higher class sport.

this is heartbreaking to see in this time

I had a friend go to a *fancy* restaurant with a really ugly outfit (don’t ask why) everyone was just staring at her, but no one told her she couldn’t wear that. And looking at this is really sad :(

I can’t imagine having to talk to my child about why they were discriminated against when they did nothing wrong. This honestly made me cry to see that little boys face. Shame on that manager!

If you look you would see the white kid isnt wearing basketball shorts his is dress shorts and his shirt has a fireball on it. I don’t see a big difference with what the two kids were wearing. There’s casual and formal attire and they should have signs on what is expected from that restaurant.

I don’t know what’s the more awkward fact the manager’s referral of sneakers as athletic shoes or the fact that you don’t know that high cuisine restaurants does indeed has dress code policy.. let alone a haute cuisine restaurants, some local fancy bar has these kinds of policy.

I a m m a d it’s not racist. The two kids were wearing similar clothes but still different. Those were khaki shorts and the shirt was a regular shirt. The black kid got on a whole basketball attire, which is athletic, breaking the dress code. And at 0:40 u can see a black customer’s arm.

So sad! I hope that restaurant fired that terrible“manager”.
