black midi's live at La Bobine in Grenoble, France on May 10th, 2022
-
I took some random footage out of interest, so this video is very fragmented. The latter part has some close-ups.
The vocals are not very clear as the audio was recorded in the front row.
Photographs are filled in between the video clips in order to keep the integrity of the audio.

also here's a fun story; A few years ago, i was living in New York City. Moved from texas with a few of my friends. i didn't have a job for the whole time (really, except one for a couple weeks when i worked for a grocery store). i heard black midi approx. one time Through youtube and vowed them to be incredible musicians. somehow i had to see them play. enter new york and the bowery ballroom, a great two story venue with a perch like a treehouse. I saved up and bought a ticket -- probably $20 but weed was expensive in manhattan. that night i took the train and i didn't know what to expect. brit's crowding an empty stage - americans throwing their bodies against one another, what else is new? come to find the largest mosh pit i've ever seen...music that made my hair stick up. this was 2018. the original lineup, flurry of pedals, drumsticks. from the second story i lined my path to the front. and waited for the next song... and then moshed like i never had before. the only reason i stopped was for the song change and when i bit someone's head with my front teeth. landed near the drum set and stood there all night. it was magical....to say the least. the next day they announced a "secret show" happening in china town. the complete opposite of the night before. the air was beyond thick. At 1pm they opened a storage container right off Broadway (heart of downtown) and there they were, already sweating from the incoming heat and breath of a hungry crowd. they played for 45 minutes or as long as it took. I stood at the front (again) and promptly lost my hearing. i have some footage but nothing good. just them washing their faces with towels and yelling into the shitty PA set. after the show i bought their CD 'Schlagemheim" and talked with the guys about the previous nights show. Geordie smacked my hand the hardest it's even been hit. I asked him for one of his guitar picks and he pulled out three broken, massive bass picks. said it was all he had.... I took their photo, no one was wearing a shirt, myself included. And, took the crowded train ride home. I wrote about the entire incident in a long form piece much like this one you've just read. Not sure where to put that...But, when it's time i'm sure i'll know. thanks for reading - Nick.

This is definitely one of the most impressive stories I’ve ever read, as it mixed the same aged musicians and audience’s experience in their early stage while music connected these people together. The secret show in Chinatown is one of my favorite shows till now, the raw wild sweaty atmosphere (and the way they announced it) exactly reflected the characters of their music at that time from my perspective. I can’t help watching the recording of it from time to time. Even bought the second hand live vinyl although it cost me £50. At least me and you wanted to watch their shows again after saw their live for the first time, and I believe there’re more people would be like this. Anyway I don’t know what I said but I can sincerely feel you and kind of jealous because you’ve met the earliest black midi. They are getting bigger and better now, hope you enjoy the new album!

The low volume on vocals are actually the main reason I keep coming to this video, this accidentally (I presume) became the best place to listen to instrumentals of their songs

What kind of BCR is that new band? Hot BBQ Chilly Pepper Sauce? Not chillin chickens .... How fast drive these runners..... Incredible kilometrage..... The car has almost no more stops to penetrate the new cosmos.... The BCRN because chicken run nevertheless is almost an unpractical road . My snitch is an eye, silent perspectives , isn't ? The cavalcade here sounds like hell. Might be preventive? Providence is now turning in your camp. Bad medicine is the best hospital. Don't stay home. Meet the evil. TBE on your screen *&*&*&*
