    Hello everyone. I have 4C hair and I want to start taking proper care of my hair. I have been making a lot of mistakes in the past which I want to correct. For context, my hair is not too long and barely reaches my eyebrows when stretched. It also has low porosity. So, I went and watched some KZread videos and read some website articles. Basically, I've planned a routine for a typical wash day from the information that I've gathered. 1. Shampoo your hair. 2. Deep condition your hair for thirty minutes to one hour. Heat can be used. 3. Rinse it out and use a leave-in conditioner. 4. Use hair gel if you want. 5. You can use a light oil like Argon oil to accompany the conditioner. Every up there is a routine for the wash day, but what routine can I use for my daily life? I don't know how correct everything here is, but I'm still confused about some things. 1. When is the right time to detangle my hair? Is it when using deep conditioner or when using leave-in conditioner? 2. How often should I detangle my hair? 3. How often should I wash my hair and should I only wash my hair with shampoo? 4. Should I only wash my hair with shampoo? 5. I intend to deep condition my hair every week since I have dry hair. However, how often should I use a leave-in conditioner? 6. Should I only use a leave-in conditioner after washing my hair when wet? 7. Can I use a leave-in conditioner in place of a moisturizer? 7. Can I leave my hair without washing or moisturising for some days? I know it seems long. Please bare with me as I am very confused right now. Also, what recommendations do you have for shampoos, deep conditioners and leave-in conditioners? What products should I buy? Lastly, any general tips you might have about black 4C hair care would be appreciated. Thank you for reading.

    1. I usually do it while using deep conditioner but I don’t know how others might feel about it. 2. Once or twice a week 3. I have 4b hair and I’ve found that washing it 2-3 times a month helps it grow more 4. I’ve found that it’s better to use shampoo & conditioner 5. You can use a leave-in conditioner daily 6. This one I don’t exactly know because I currently do it after washing it or adding like some type of liquid to it and it works greatly but I’ve never exactly experienced it without wetting it first 7. Yes, it’s great since you have low porosity hair 8. Since you have 4c hair you should be moisturizing daily just to keep it from being dry and from breakage occurring but as I said washing it 2-3 times a month helps a lot better

    Bro first after all, There are basic rules like Using a Sulfate Free Shampoo and condicioner (Sulfates makes your hair dry, very very dry) This is my second time growing out a full afro, i can give you some tips 1. Sulfate free shampoo and condicioner, wash you hair atleast every 2 days 2. basic rule, Your sometimes might be desesperated about how to much little progess you hair have and im sorry but afro hair is the hair that MOST takes time to grow out, theres nothing you cant do about it and NO, DONT BRUSH IT ALL THE TIME 3. always try using new stuff in your hair, but remember to dont touch it after you style it, you know that you are using the right products when your hair keeps is "curly" shape, or well it depends about the kind of afro that you are trying to grow up 4. Learn to cut it by yourselft , i had more than 1 year growing my hair out but i decided to get a "Little" haircut, but the lady dont knew how to cut afro hair and she ended up almost leaving me bald, Lmao sounds like a lie but is truth, Today people are not used to grow afro hair so is super, super , super weird to find someone that wants to grow it out so people dont know how to handle an afro 5. Remember to use something like a oil (avocado oil, I dont recommend using coconut oil ) in your hair, use it before you are going to style it (after you washed it) 6. Another basic rule is that sometimes you will have Bad hair days , when your hair looks like if it is dry and you feel like you must cut it, resist the temptation , sometimes is normal to see your hair like this 7. The secret of growing afro hair out is..... Simply "ignore it" dont be all the whole time caring about your hair, ofc care about it when you wash it , etc, but then just forget about it for the rest of the day, your hair is very very very delicated so if you brush it to much you will lost more hair, just brush it when you style it after you take a shower, thats actually it lmao, Is pretty simple

I moved across and have getting hair cut by cultures who don’t truly know our hair textures so after it’s cut I noticed the hairs sticking up. I was wondering is there anything I can do to get my hair to lay down? I’ve used wave grease and durags which helps but only for a day.

    Apply some hair gells they really help, or hair spray that you can rub in it really helps with itchy scalps, and flakes and helps keep your scalp moisturised but really all you wanna do is not wash your hair often and keep it moistured and do some research on your type of hair and how to take care of it

  • @TinoXStudio

    @TinoXStudio

    Scalp itchiness and flakes are typically from dryness or excessive product buildup. so if yours is from dryness make sure your moisturize your scalp ( not just your HAIR) so do what you do at day 1 in 2 days instead of three and see if that helps your routine. you may just need to do it more frequently cause your hair could be wicking more moisture from your scalp than it can produce

    HI Dorian! Yes thats what I would do and you can use your fingers to feel how much you can detangle with your hands before using a wide toothed comb or pick if needed so ya don't break the hairs or pull them too hard where it hurts ! Thanks for your patience with the delayed response

    I’m not sure what my Barber put in my hair but my hair for the past few months grows straight out as if i have a perm. My hair used to be really curly and i could easily grow an Afro. Now i can’t even grow an Afro my hair grows straight out like a Mexican or something. Should i cut it all down and start over?

    I have 4C hair, n when i tell u my hair is so healthy. It looks like black foam in pictures lol i use Design Essentials (which are sulfate free shampoo, conditioners, n other products). I shampoo once a week, n condition 2 times a week. N it grows fast as hell. I also sleep with a durag. Since my hair is kind of short but long (4 inches) i use my fingers to stimulate blood flow. I try not to comb my hair much or mess with it actually, n really only pick it out, when i condition n detangle it. The durag tends to give its shape back.

    Yes that can happen. Everyones hair grows to a certain length and then it just kinda keeps itself healthy.. you can use heat or chemicals to loosen the curls so it had more room to move around and sometimes that lets your body tell your hair to grow longer lol that what we used to do with those s-curl kits backing the 90s

    Not if you don’t have to. Your profile pic looks like you may have straighter hair but ideally you wouldn’t want you have that much moisture filling the follicles and diffusing from the daily if you don’t have to. Could cause unnecessary damage and wash out natural oils

    lol yeah just stimulate the scalp make sure the pores aren't clogged and keep the strands of hair hydrated as they wick and release moisture.. make sure you don't have split ends so it doesn't break.. keratin if its already damaged but really its not super difficult.

    My biggest tip for black *People* after washing your hair. leave your hair ALONE. Dont even touch it ... And yes drink a gallon of water daily and eat healthier, a healthy lifestyle has just as much to do with maintaining healthy hair than conditioning. God bless everyone.

    I appreciate you watching and commenting and I respectfully disagree. Black people have all different types of hair. Different patterns, porosity and types of damage. Get a consultation from a professional of you are in need of haircare. Conditioners, treatments, oils, butters and moisturizers are around for a reason. Don’t let it get try and brittle. Water is important and eating the right types of food are also essential. I’m not a nutritionist but the ones I’ve worked with do not recommend a whole gallon.
