Regarding Discogs and other companies blacklisting certain musicians: it's most likely not just their decision. A lot of it has to do with investors being involved and other companies they do business with. For example, if Discogs' servers are handled by a third-party, they'll have to comply with said third-party's policies, which again may be influenced by their investors and/or a different entity.

I didn't know discogs was based in Portland. It adds up.

Yet discogs allows the first pressing of Transylvanian Hunger to continue being sold despite the the fact that the notorious quote "True Aryan Black Metal" is plastered on it.

I actually don't think that quote exists in the album backs anymore. If I remember well they changed it to These dudes released that album in their early 20s and I believe the reason ot that quote behind the album was that Varg had written some of the songs, or sth. Correct me if I 'm wrong. I believe they have already apologized in public calling their past selves immature and claiming that they don 't want anything to do with Nazis at all. You can look it up if you want, that 's what I found back when I did my research.

I’m late but Vothana is another one where discogs pick and chooses which releases to blacklist. Vothana Phuc tung 7” sold recently for $1500 and it released in 2007(ish).

The funny thing, when I last saw Slayer they had a totenkopf on the side of the stage beneath their name.

As far as why certain versions of an album are banned and some are not, is because typically, it has to be reported first.

If a band is nsbm, or if an certain album is nsbm, I kinda get why it would be blocked/banned. But if it's not, I don't get it. Sure bootleg might not be very legal, but still.

I'm in no way defending discogs black listing records, freedom and speech and all. But Discogs could end up in trouble if the people who want to cancel everything they disagree with, will see nsbm or wrong think artists having their stuff sold on the site, will simply report discogs to payment services like PayPal to freeze payments, feels more like a business decision to me rather than a moral problem, probably both equally. There will be exceptions that they can be able to do to pull shit like the Nokturnal album

Honestly, everyone should be happy, not upset about Discogs' "inconsistency" in banning items on Marketplace. They're only responding to the bare minimum of reports and complaints they can't ignore, instead of just straight up closing entire bands or, say, every version under the Master Release (as they could've). Versus any other comparable online retailer, such as eBay, for instance, Discogs is by far the most liberal towards extreme content.

I don't know about the official records but fact is that he was prooven innocent by the courts and from what l heard he turned himself in, or it was someone from his family l don't remember. And considering that hes was always known for having some right leaning ideals and connections and that the original article was published by antifa shitheads you shouldn't take it too serious.

I disagree, I see alot of people expressing that opinion, but it's just not true. I think you have a limited knowledge of such projects music (which is of course fine), but it leads to an obvious misconception. In reality it contains some of the most experimenting and daring bm projects or music releases ever put out, ranging from rock infused stuff, melodic/folk infused bm, and much more. Yes there are bands that always have a sort of demo sound, but that's hardly the whole of it.

I don’t understand the problem. So discogs don’t allow nazi metal to be sold on their site....so what! They’re not under any obligation to do so. Just as a lot people here seem to go on about freedom of speech, discogs has the right to decide what is sold through its business. Maybe the people behind discogs have a different moral compass or some are Jewish or they’re just dicks, it doesn’t matter. Discogs are not telling people not to listen to nazi metal they’re just saying you can’t buy it on their site. And there is no moral difference in buying from a private seller and buying straight from a label. You might feel better about your money going directly to a nazi label by buying privately, but by buying these records you are creating a market for these to be sold in the first place.
