    If they're so community oriented and they are in the 100s of thousands, how come the black community is STILL so jacked up?

    That's a different story in itself. A little community service from Greek organizations will not fix the problems the black community faces. Lots of work to be done. I think that would make a good documentary.

    Where is it mandated BGLOs are suppose to solve all the problems of the world? And why not ask the Black church that same question? They are thousands of times richer and larger than BGLOs. And furthermore most BGLO members belong to a church.

Once you change all of the black communities in the U.S., then post them and let us know your special secret!!! Don't talk the talk if cannot walk the walk!!!

    7:00 I was a UCLA student back in the late 1970's and early 1980's (graduated in '84), and there was a brotha, member of a phi a, who denounced his greek letters behind Christianity. His pastor broke it down, and the boy quit A Phi A, denouncing All Greek Membership. Peter Bostick I think his name was. or Bostwick or something like that. He may be in the medial or legal profession. I barely knew him. I had Alpha friends at time, who were mostly shocked and outraged at the time. College gang mentality, for sure. Colors and all. Fraternities and Sororities in European societies ultimately stem from European aristocracy and knightly orders (crusaders, Knights of Christ, knights of St John, etc). In America, they ultimately represent the wealth and power of the invaders, settlers and conquerors of the land under Christ and the sign of the Red Cross (Columbus's Ship, etc). They represent access to wealth and power, which in America meant the loot from conquest and subjugation of natives and Africans. BGLOS are rooted in what? The middle passage? There is no wealth or power associated with being forced to work for free and subject to laws making you a second class citizen. Therefore, these groups have no access to anything that they can share among themselves in the first place, unlike the groups they are trying to imitate. They have no companies, no wealth (7 figures and up) don't control any industries, the means of production or have access to acres and acres of land not only in America but around the world (Spanish, British and other colonial lands). So what can they really offer except parties, basic socializing and sex? It is nothing more than a glorified version of gang indoctrination in many ways for many people. Because in Europe these orders were the hidden network that the ruling power used to maintain order in society, especially among the wealthy and educated classes (most Europeans weren't educated back then) and to avoid uprisings/revolutions. They were bestowed upon those who provided loyalty and service to the crown and/or the church and provided many benefits for maintaining loyalty.

I went to college as a freshmen at an HBCU Benedict College and I had met new friends that year also but when we became upper classmen and was was ready to join frats/soros most the ppl I met as friends as freshmen changed and acted like they didn't know me anymore once they crossed there burning sands, and to me that what make stuff like this the trick of the devil, like what's in those greek letter's to make ppl change like that cause I don't understand. Glad I went non greek ijs and I'm still the same person I always been never got arrogant nor thought I was better than other ppl and look down on ppl that didn't pledge nor even had a chance to go to college which is a blessing I had that experience.

    I bet you can't travel the world and have instant connections like D9 members. I bet when you move to a new city you don't have a network to help you adjust to your new city, show you around, be there for you, help you move and settle in. That's why you cannot compare D9 to your experience. D9 orgs are like none other where you serve alongside friends and have family no matter where you are in the WORLD. You can serve your community and that's great. You can have friends in your city and that's great. But you can't have that everywhere you go if you're truly being honest with yourself. We have sorors who move into town and connect with us immediately having someone she can count on and trust to be there for her. I am a testament to that. I see it happen all the time and even when I'm traveling I feel good wherever I go knowing that if I need someone I can call a soror whom I have never even met to be there for me. That is why we're different.

  • @VisualDisplay07
    @VisualDisplay078 жыл бұрын

    You can SERVE, LEAD and be SIBLINGS without denouncing GOD by opting for GREEK gods. That's the difference. All the groups offer the same activities so why are they different? The Oath they make to the various Greek concepts and gods they serve is what makes them different. The persona follows the type of god Greeks submit to so you can readily tell what 'type' of Greek you might be and assimilate accordingly. Kudos to the brother who denounced his letters! God is greater than those letters which will be snatched, along with all edges, when Jesus returns.

    pvalumni2008 You didn't have to 'say' you denounce God. You simply had to pledge allegiance or make a solemn oath to another god (Greek or otherwise). For example, did you stand before an alter and make a sacrifice along these lines: Let him (the initiate) turn to the Sacred Altar, fire enflame and barley white cake offer in Apollo's (or Thoth's) name? A wreath is a symbol of the greek god of life and health, Apollo. What pledge did you make to Apollo Thoth in order to 'cross over?' And, exactly what were you crossing over?! Any decisions made based on your fraternal order, that conflict with God's word, His will and His ways, are acts of denouncing God.

  • @pvalumni2008

    +VisualDisplay07 So are you saying that I turned to a sacred alter in the name of Apollo? I'm sorry to inform you but I, not did my line brothers do anything like that. I don't fault you for thinking that but you cannot assume you know the ins and outs about something you have no affiliation with. I'm sure you saw this info somewhere online but that doesn't mean it's actually practiced or everyone does it. They also have a passing of the egg hazing video on KZread. Don't assume you know if you are not part. But thank you for your concern and comment.

    pvalumni2008 I hail from a family of masons, eastern stars and Divine 9 fraternal folks. My bestie is in a frat and I've come upon 'scared' books/scrolls, which ALL have a foundation in free masonry. I know that you're not supposed to admit to the general population what YOU did to cross over. However, the answer to your original question remains: If you made an OATH or PLEDGED allegiance in ANY WAY to YOUR Greek letter organization, which represents Apollo, in order to 'cross over,' you denounced god. Even if all you did was a cartwheel in the dark b/c you walked grad chapter, or was a masked probate who recited your commitment to KAP for undergrad, the point is those GREEK letters are greater than GOD such that you opted to confirm to its ways instead of God's!

  • @pvalumni2008

    @pvalumni2008

    7 жыл бұрын

    +VisualDisplay07 people make oaths everyday. And to be honest I never knew anything about a sacred alter or Apollo in connection with kappa until folks like you started mentioning it to me. I made an oath yes, but no Greek God was mentioned or ever came out my mouth. Can't believe everything you read. I don't doubt some members went through everything you have read but not everyone. And no, my letters do not mean more to me than God. Actions will forever speak louder than words. If I don't behave like a worship a Greek god please don't label me that way. Again, I appreciate your concern, but I'm a good family man. Ima be ok. I feel no guilt.

    Are you initiated? If not, you are speaking on what you don't understand. My oath was not to a false god. It was to serve (service, not worship) and uphold what my fraternity is based on. Furthermore, do you not believe in the military, doctors, lawyers, public officials...they too have to take an oath. Do you not own a car, house, etc. They all have a contract that one is expected to uphold due to your signature. Do you have a credit card? They all have terms and agreements that they agree too. Do you have apps like Facebook, gmail, etc. They too, have terms and services that you agree too. Even before you get surgery, you have to sign something that dismisses their liability from what you trust them to do. I being a follower and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have witnessed to others within my fraternity about Jesus Christ. Do some make Greek organizations their god? Yes. That could also be found on the job, family, etc.

    I have heard this argument many times. I love my frat but God (The Lord Jesus Christ) comes first. When I first crossed, I was making it my god because I wasn't reading the bible as much as I was reading information about my frat. But guess what? I fasted from my frat to get my relationship back to the place it was in God before I joined. It is easy to get caught up in the life of Greek organizations. That's why a person HAS TO KNOW THEMSELVES before joining. But it is something that only the initiated understand. Period!

    Ask yaselves, those if you in these organizations, when you do ALL of the community service that you all so claim to do, do you do these things in HONOR of the HOLY FATHER, or do you do these things in HONOR of the GREEK? My GOD is a JEALOUS GOD, and there shall be NO OTHA before thee.

    I am not sure God is so insecure. God knows He is great. Any entity capable of creating all that is and ever shall be need not be jealous that some people take occasional diversions by associating with others.

    Ok sure they kinda cleaned up their image by doing charity work but you need to remember about hazing. It is illegal but most fraturnities and sororitys still do it more worse then others but all ways are illegal. There are a few really good ones who don't haze and don't party and are very focused on a topic but those are hard to find nowadays with all the drinking and access to cigarettes and alcohol but if u do find a good one that's great and you will have a great time

    I appreciate your comment sir. It is very unfortunate that a lot of organizations get carried away with the hazing, but at the end of the day that type of process is not mandatory. It's a choice by all that join. But on the bright side, that is only a small piece of what goes which is what I tried to explain in this video. The longer you area member and the older/maturer you get the wiser your actions become. A lot are kids when they enter these organizations and kids do dumb stuff.

    I agree. Yes, hazing is a part of this society that was not highlighted. However, I can appreciate the nice deed of feeding the homeless. My only concern is can a person(s) extend the hand of outreach in this facet without joining a organization? Of course, they can. Moreover, besides the feeding of the hungry, I am curious as to what Greek life involves on a daily basis, as it relates to community outreach. It seems to be the default by supporters of the organization that they do so much for the community without any further explanation. How and when?

    Thank you for your comment. And that is a very good question. I cannot speak for all 9 of the Black Greek Organizations, but I do know that several have mentoring programs for boys and girls of all ages similar to a Big Brother or Sister program. My organization's program is called Kappa League. In addition I know several of us give out scholarships as well and have functions to raise money for underprivileged families.

    Jesus is the true God not the secular pagan false gods fraternities and sororities pledge allegiance to. If you’re a Christian repent, read your bible, and watch the denouncing videos, God is jealous and you can’t serve two masters. Revelation 12:11 “And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”

    It’s noble but it will not save you, you can’t serve two masters. Ephesians 2:8 “ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
