Black Forest Germany Road Trip
We've rented a car to visit the Black Forest in Germany with stops along the way at Frankenstein's Castle and the largest pumpkin festival in the world. We wanted to kick of the spooky season in Germany and chose a few places that channeled that Halloween vibe. The Black Forest is the setting for many of the Brother Grimms' stories and, of course, everyone knows the story of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

All of it lol :)
So let's sum it up: We have Burg Frankenstein in the Hessian Odenwald. No Schwarzwald. We have a pumpkin festival in front of Ludwigburg palace. A flat landscape at least 50 kilometers away from the mountainous Schwarzwald. We have Freiburg in the Breisgau Region, at the edge of the Schwarzwald. An we have in fact one little village within the Schwarzwald with original cuckoo clocks, but the cake is not nearly what an original Black forest cake would look like. 😂

Hello again !!! This is my second video of yours and I am a fan. I haven't been to the Frankenstein castle yet but I would like to go some time. I love all of the pumpkins and like you said I also did not know that there were so many different types of pumpkins. The air balloons look awesome coming over the trees. I went to the black forest for the first time back in 2019 and I fell in love with the cuckoo clocks everywhere lol. I had some black forest cake there also lol. Thanks so much for this great video ;).

Welcome back 🙂 yes next time I think we’d like to spend more time in the Black Forest. There are so many little towns along the way that we would have loved to walk around and explore.

You kind of missed the heart of the Black Forest. Freiburg is great, I live in a little tiny village about a half hour away. My advice for anyone reading this is get off the dang freeway and onto the roads in the actual black forest. You drove straight past some of the most beautiful land without actually seeing it.
How many days in black forest?
fyi as good as your video is but you did NOT eat black forest cake during this video.... black forest cake is a layer of cherries cake and cream
