Black Combe / White Combe/ White Hall Knott hike in The Lake District Park

Free parking at Beckside on A595 layby for approx 6 cars
This route is approx 7 miles and heads up Whitecombe Beck along to Whicham Mill, a lovely spot before heading up to White Hall Knott (311m) , White Combe (417m) , Stoupdale Head (472m) and Black Combe (600m).
Black Combe rises up practically from the sea being 4 miles from the Irish Sea and one gets amazing sea views from the ascent and descent, over to Duddon Sands and Walney Island and The Scafells and Coniston Fells.
This route heads above Whitecombe Screes and Black Combe Screes , dramatic sheer crags dropping down almost vertically from the Ridge down into the valley.
There are 4 routes onto Black Combe which can be found in Alfred Waknrights Outlying Fells Book.

HI Tracey, yes, thank you so much for this. Every time I'm playing golf at Fleetwood and looking over to Black Combe, I'm always saying that I need to get it bagged. This has given me the kick up the backside I need. Haha Thank you for sharing your adventure, those crags look stunning. All the best Dave

I did Black Coombe back in 2020 with my dog, my first visit to the Lakes. It was in the lockdown gap we had and the weather was stunning. This brings back memories. I then went to Milholm and to a lovely cage then to the marina. Finally back to our cottage and a walk to the beach. I parked in a layby and headed straight up the mountain and could see the IOM.

Sounds like you had a great day, I didn't know Millom had a marina, I haven't ever walked around Millom itself but been to the sand dunes, its a fantastic sea view on BlacknCombe isn't it

I'm a new subscriber to both your channel and Andrew's. Can I say that the content for both you channels are superb, in quality and detail. One of the biggest things for me is showing parking spots which very few other content providers do and is frustrating but your map time is just wonderful. I love how you and Andrew's content compliment each other showing routes in different ways. I hope you are both going to continue making these fabulous videos. Thank you

A really good walk and belting weather. This is one of the few outlying fells I've done. Good tips regarding the routes in summer. Great camera work as usual. Lovely video.

Hi Tracey, Andy and Billybob. What a great video and what an amazing place, my daughter took me to Ravenglass to have a trip on the Ratty line, which was my first ever trip to the Lakes. We saw Black coombe from the train and it was to me a monster. It was a great looking walk and had some beautiful scenery especially towards the end looking over the beck at the crags. Definitely one of my favourites. Cheers Glyn.
