It's very unusual to see a black bear in the middle of Burnaby in a very populated area like Central Park. I sure hope he makes his way back to the forest.

I've lived in Burnaby for 60 years and this is the first time I've heard of a bear in Central Park.

That park is full of Oemlaria trees, an indigenous fruit tree that seems to have an ecological partnership. Each year so much of this fruit just goes to waste there, no bears to eat it. This bear's presence feels right and makes me happy. I hope human hysterics haven't already prevailed over good sense and coexistence.

Conservation authorities did not conserved the animal. It was put down after being shoot with tranquillizers. Very sad that it is the easy way to solve the problem. This bear looked like a fantastic specimen. Very sad.

People followed it and filmed it instead of staying away. Officers were called and this animal was shot and killed unnecessarily.

I'm very happy seeing a bear doing bear things, like looking for grubs. Hopefully it can be relocated before it starts rummaging through garbage bins.

Who is here after the story broke of this bear paying the ultimate price for eating a wild goose? I guess you can’t eat the goose

Posting videos like this attract people to go and see the bear. More people = more problems. Now the bear is dead. If you feel the need to show videos of these beautiful creatures, please don't advertise their location. Give them a chance.

@Mark LaForge You keep posting this in every video of this Bear but you have to understand that it is rare that bears enter that Park. It's not like there's a new bear there every weekend and people are going to rush off to see it. The park is located directly between Burnaby and Vancouver two very large cities in BC. The bear probably made his way up from the Fraser River through a large Cemetery directly south of this park. At any rate you are correct that people should not approach bears. But it's extremely strange to see one in a park where normally you would just see a bunch of squirrels and ducks.
