Black and white saved my photography

Ойын-сауық

Black and white photography will be around for as long as cameras exist. Watch this video 20 years from now. I guarantee it will be just as evocative and provoking as today.
...unless fujifilm removes acros from their cameras. Then maybe it will suck but that's never going to happen right?

Very well put... I agree 100% with the way you described the "why" of B&W.

I feel the same about B&W, and often shot my X100V in Acros. However, I found that because the camera could shoot color, I would sometimes fall back into the "safety net" of color. So, I sold my Fuji and splurged on a (very) lightly used Leica Q2 Monochrom. It has far exceeded my expectations and has unleashed my love of B&W to a whole different level. If you could get your hands on a Q2M I very highly recommend taking it for a spin, even if you only rent one.

Haha, I have people I know who own the q2m, I've shot a few times... It's... Definitely something I'm still working towards 😂

I love b&w photography too! I found that instead of the viewer and photographer focusing on the colour, b&w concentrates on the story you are telling. Each photograph is a story and b&w goes hand-in-hand with that. It really does add depth to your photography. All my work is 95% b&w. Incredible photos Jay! Well done! 👍

Color is ordinary. It's what you see. Always. As does everyone else. Every moment of every day. Monochrome stands out. It's extraordinary. It's _art._

Thank you for this video. I enjoyed your perspectives and the feelings you associate with the process of making B&W photos. I'll give a try to your recipe (interesting use of the WB at -8,-8), and to practice shooting in B&W first instead of color and then edit them to B&W.

One thing to keep in mind when shooting this recipe is if you export to color in image editing software, you will need to fix the white balance, as everything will look very green otherwise
