BJP will get 200-220 seats, NDA below 272; dictators usually end up in handcuffs or coffins: Finance Minister's husband, the author and economist, Parakala Prabhakar, to Karan Thapar for The Wire.

The respected author, economist and commentator Parakala Prabhakar, who is also Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s husband, has forecast that the BJP will get between 200-220 seats whilst the NDA will fall below the majority mark. His figure for the NDA could be as low as 255. When asked if the BJP performs as poorly as he expects what future does he see for Narendra Modi, Dr. Parakala said history shows that “almost all dictators end up in handcuffs or coffins”.
In a 35-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Dr. Parakala said he expects to see a non-BJP led and non-NDA led government after June the 5th. In other words, an Opposition alliance.
I do not want to steal Dr. Parakala’s thunder nor do I want to run the risk of misconstruing what he has said or wrongly paraphrasing or précising it. I think you should see this interview for yourself.
Dr. Parakala shared his forecast for each of the states of south India (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka) as well as for practically all the states of north and east India. He speaks individually about UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Haryana and Delhi. He also speaks individually about Maharashtra, Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat and collectively the North East.
To sum up what he says (but you must see the interview for the details) Dr. Parakala believes the BJP could lose between 80-95 seats in north India and up to a further 15 seats in south India. If you take the average figure of 87 for north India that means the BJP could lose up to 102 seats compared to the 303 it won in 2019.
This is why Dr. Parakala says he expects the BJP to win between 200-220 seats whilst the NDA will fall below a majority, perhaps by a significant margin.

Wrong analysis. Congress became too complacent in 2014 , no reforms BJP had to win, in 2019 momentum was with BJP thanks to all the crores spent to popularize MR Liar. The only reason why he went a little wrong was lack of a proper opposition face. Priyanka Gandhi should have come forth and become the party's face. I think Doc would have been absolutely right with that.

Dr. Parakala I am very happy for your professional conduct in the interview. You have been very suggestive of all your views. I wish India has many such people who fearlessly guide the next generations while they need to take decisions on who should govern them. Unfortunately too many things combining a massive illiterate population enabled this fiasco of a Modi- Shah regime. A reasonably educated intellectual like Arvind Kejriwal became a victim of his own doing, deceived by cunning RSS groups. Without judging if Kejriwal and AAP are corrupt in the on going investigation which I believe the party most likely is, he is culpable to an extent to bring personalized battles in politics against the most of illiterates governing the country and has equally been responsible for the current state of Anarchy. Hope India recovers from the crisis on 5th June by the formation of a new government that will slowly learn to address the real problems of the society. Jai Hind 🙏🇮🇳

The first Time I heard the interviews given by Mr Prakala Prabhakar, I was actualy shocked on the numbers and data thrown by him. I felt hes one of the opposition created narrative. However after following him for almost 2 odd months in various platforms and also reading his book. Based on facts today in ground, I should say here his numbers what he mentioned few months back much before elections, seem to be the ground reality today. He felt the pulse, His economics analysis and data points are remarkable too. Thanks for the enlightenment Mr Prabhakar. Please support your fellow country men with such great number based analysis.
I feel BJP may get a maximum of 200 MP seats and its partners may get a maximum of 30 seats!! NDA may get a maximum of 230 seats, well short of halfway mark??? In other words , NDA will not be able to form the Government???
