Björk: The Gate

Фильм және анимация

For the first release from her forthcoming new album, co-produced by Arca, Björk has teamed up with a super-troupe of contributors to create a hallucinogenic new video. Director Andrew Thomas Huang envisions a kaleidoscopic world inhabited by the singer-songwriter, who is clad in an iridescent otherworldly garment designed by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele. I love the fact that the latest Björk works are not "easy listening". You have to welcome it to your heart, breath, close your eyes and then feel every note flowing through your ears. It's not just a melody, it's a sentiment!

I think this is one of the most visually beautiful music videos she has ever done. The colors are gorgeous. That DRESS is gorgeous. Her reference to Vulnicura with the little heart wound is cute. Bouncing back and forth, healing itself again via love etc... I can really see "Utopia" becoming some of her best work. This sounds so soothing & hypnotic. Her music is an entire soundscape.

Exactly because it's not mainstream it's not going to click with everyone, and you gotta keep in mind the majority of people in the world simply don't care as much about music as we do. This is not some easy listening stuff. Still, Bjork is a pretty damn significant and highly praised name in music so it will attract many listeners. Guaranteed. But it will mostly attract listeners who actually care. Quality over quantity in a way ;) I realize this sounds pretentious as fuck but I still stand by it.

Very psychedelic. I am amazed at how Björk constantly reinvents herself as a musician, I feel like she is one of the few left who still stays extremely relevant. She is an edelweiss of music, she's rare and precious. She's beautiful as always in this video. And very nice to see her play the flute again, it's been a while. Long live Björk. We all need your music in our lives.

The comments criticizing Bjork for experimenting in sound are rather annoying. She's not going to make rehashes of her previous albums. As an artist if you're doing the same thing you're not really moving anywhere. One of the things I like about her is the change of sound with each album. Bjork doesn't have to cater to your wants.

I'm absolutely stunned by the creativity and uniqueness of Bjork and her team. This video is amazing and even though I didn't get to feel and experience "The Gate" at first, maybe because of it's odd musical sequences, now I fully see and acknowledge the wonderful idea expressed by this ambient music and the moves in the video. For me, it seems like Bjork and the other figure exchange parts of themselves from those gates that she so beautifully describes. I can honestly say that I never felt so intense association with pure creativity and unique approach with any other musician of our time. Bjork, in my mind, associates with that pure creative mind that thinks out of the box and reaches peaks all the time. I'm looking forward to listening to full "Utopia" and I can't wait to praise her next work that already seems amazing after listening this song!

Man Björk is truly one of a kind, and one in a million. To me she is beyond a legend, and her vision for music is way beyond this time, like I love how she takes me to another dimension, and everytime I look at her videos its like I'm diving into all her emotions. If you are an empath then you'll understand, but what I'm trying to say is that Björk is a True Artist...and there's no other like her, because she's a rare breed.

I agree with Maximilian. I used to really love Björks music, I still really like most of her earlier work, her latest couple of albums do have some decent tracks; but that's about it. She takes herself way to seriously - I remember reading an interview with her where she said that pop music is the modern day equivalent to folk music and that she wants to appeal to commoners and not to culture snobs, this no longer seems to be the case. She really is full of herself.

still incredible after all these years, every evolving and inspiring pushing forward. Most artists get stuck in their ways but Bjork just moves ahead.

This does NOT deserve almost 800 dislikes. The song and video have so much effort put into it, how can it’s beauty fly past someone???
