@@psychwardsandSCENE no artist ever needs to justify their work to anyone else, so i won't try to justify her to someone who will never agree with me. but again... no artwork of any type ever needs to be validated. it is inherent valid because it exists. worth is in the eye of the beholder, and that is SEPERATE from validity. you see no worth in her music. fine. nobody actually needs you to. it doesn't take away from my enjoyment, or her own pleasure making and performing it to huge crowds all over the world. i suggest you create something today, instead of tearing down others.

Aphex Twin is like the god of electronic music to me, so I’m not surprised that a musician with such a good taste as Björk sees him as a king, even if it’s always a pleasure to hear it :)

Autechre is far better imo. Autechre was pushing the boundaries of experimental poly beats in a way that Aphex Twin could only dream of! Aphex Twin certainly got more attention, but I'll never forget when MTV played a video from Autechre! Autechre got less attention because the music doesn't always follow typical styles or structures. Lots of people recognized Autechre as the pinnacle of Electronica in the mid 90s. It still stands as an example of Electronicas best artists over 20 years later! Don't sleep on Autechre. Their collection is quite large, and full of gems.

@@mbrackeva I think calling Aphex Twin a god makes my statements completely on point. I even started by saying it's my opinion. You don't have to agree with my opinion, but calling my opinion a competition is meant to silence me. I'm not surprised a bunch of fans would get upset at the notion that there are better artists in the same genre. Aphex Twin is good, but I'll always disagree with calling him a "god", and you can't stop me from saying it.

@@djgiga2 I can't be the first one to point out how silly it is to make something out of spite inspired by someone else's work and end up making something that looks and feels more authentic and genuine than the way they didn't want their work to be viewed as. Is that the result of accurate imitation or did he accidentally become the king of that genre and era? Everytime someone would say there's Prodigy... but there's Aphex Twin! That definitely backfired because I always thought they were way edgier than Prodigy. Aphex Twin were well apart of that late 90s "edge."

@@juliangrant9718 Yea you can tell I mean its completely over top. Aphex definitely didn't become king on accident. Some of his stuff is dark, but there's also lots of really silly stuff too or beautiful melodies. He doesn't take himself as seriously I guess that's the point.

@@djgiga2 I wouldn't even say The Prodigy took himself too seriously either. I would call that just fun music not trying to make any points. Anyone who found it to be too serious I think were hatin a bit. I can see the British clash on those two groups at that specific time. Even I had Fat of the Land at like 11 years old from my parents for Christmas. It was huge. I understand there might be some criticisms when some of those songs got so much overexposure. I don't know. It sounds like a bit of cope that his video was successful for all the reasons he's making fun of. Look at every mix album from that era that featured Matrixesque metal club sounds. Right next to their songs you'd see a song by Rob Zombie, Ministry, and Fear Factory. He was exactly who he was making fun of

Comedy and horror are intertwined. Both rely on timing and a sort of atmosphere to create an involuntary response. One is joyful, the other is fearful.

Viva Zwei...that was a stellar tv station.

Saw Aphex Twin at an early earthcore rave in the bush in Victoria in the mid-90’s, his deck was set up on a card table under a canvas tent and it was all running off of a generator with extension leads running everywhere. There was like maybe 150 of us there and he played the witching hour set (pre-dawn) he was amazing…

I was thinking something more chilled like "On" but this took me by utter surprise.

My chest hair fell off and I sprouted fairy wings just watching this.

"Aphex Twin is the king" someone (even Aphex himself) should sample that into a track.

God... I remember seeing her for the first time when I was a kid and immediately falling in love.

This made me jerk a tear, like she seems so passionately enthralled by Aphex's work at that point of time. Always feels nice to see someone else giving the recognition a fellow artist deserves. Godspeed to Chris Cunningham btw he was a real juggernaut for some of Aphex's campaigns.

I remember discovering Aphex with 'Come to Daddy' and i discovered Bjork with 'Hunter'.. this is when MTV actually played music. I'd be glued to the TV.

I was in the last year of school when he dropped "Didgeridoo". Blew 16y.o me's head away with the sound and energy at the time...

I remember the first time I saw the "Come to Daddy" video. I think I was like 13 and it came on MTV. It was the trippiest, scariets shit ever.

aw man, back in the days of the one and only music channel that would play such videos here in Germany: the utterly amazing VIVA2. Real alternative music, brillant shows that focused on the weird side of culture and so much attitude. It's were I got into Björk. Aphex, Autechre, Tool, Shellac, Sleep and whatnot.
