I had an abusive parent and didn't live the happiest of childhoods. Emotions were perceived as a weakness. And then she came and taught me that there's this raw power that emotion can bring, and it was immensely liberating. Coincidentally, it started with the Joga video. I am forever thankful.

Just because you aren't aware of other artists that do it, that doesn't mean you are right in your statement. I'll give you a free example here of your logic so you can see how silly it is. I declare that the frozen pizza in my freezer is unique, because I have not seen other frozen pizzas. We can all agree Bjork is great and unique, but you can do it without sounding stupid and ignorant about the specifics, and showing a blatant disrespect for other artists.

Alexander Supertramp it’s not so much that it evokes imagery, it’s the profound idea that in Bjork’s world emotion is so vast and all-consuming that it’s hard to chalk it all up to passing feelings. It resonated with me and changed the way I thought about how emotion could exist in my internal world. When I enter a new environment, sometimes a novel emotional landscape arises with it. It’s broad and layered.

It’s still surreal how many years it was *actually* been since she released this album 😂 and yet the nostalgia I feel now is more towards 16 years ago when I felt like the coolest high school kid in southern Texas where only less than.5% of the population knew who bjork was 😅 what an era !!!

I love seeing Bjork live. She genuinely feels and enjoys what she´s singing. The way she smiles everytime she says "emotional landscapes", how she moves with the rhythms and marks the tempo of the song with every gesture. It's really a beautiful scene to watch, and a lesson on how to live, maybe.

I remember seeing this episode repeated in about 1999. I think she performed this, Hunter and Bachelorette. I had never had any interest in Bjork prior to that day, but I was blown away by all three songs. They still sound great today. I don’t love everything she’s done, but she can hit heights few others can come close to. This performance is a good example.

Bjork's music improves with time and experience. Having worked with some very experienced colleagues, she is well able to sustain complex and musically challenging material regardless of production conditions. Others need a truck load of electronics and special effects but Bjork re-pitches and adjusts her dynamics to work with a simple string ensemble such as this one. Whereas the studio version of Joga (made at her own studio in Spain) is on an epic/saga scale a great song is a great song. Here it and its creator perform in considerate and respectful concert with other musicians. That is one definition of being a great musician.
