Björk - All is Full of Love (Reaction/Request)

Музыка

Hey All! This was a very beautiful and dream-like song. I'm a bit lost on relating the video to the theme of this one, but still an excellent video nonetheless.

Visual effects insanely ahead of the curve for late '90s. I read the meaning as 'All forms of love are valid'.

To me, this video represents that while our physical interactions can sometimes seem mechanical, our emotions are ever more transcendent.

Björk is definitely Timeless, but also the video was made / directed by Chris Cunningham who also made the music video for "Come to Daddy" by Aphex Twin, i believe he also constructed the androids but for the eyes and mouth they are not CGI this being the reason the "effects" not ageing like most outdated visual effects. the man is a visual genius.

This was a rather mesmerizing tune, but very pleasant. I wonder if she used the robots in a love scene to point out that some humans might be in an almost mechanized dance in their relationship, and they are wondering where the real love is?

My reading has always been that, as all is full of love, robots will fall in love as they evolve. Also, note that the robots have Bjork's face, it also has a nod to loving yourself.

Reactor wondered if this was being said in a sarcastic, smart ass way and yes, indeed it is. Björk is challenging people to get over themselves and their egos and their prejudices and experience love, experience the one emotion that seems to have the biggest cost to humans

I love homogenic, I think it’s a great album. But there are a couple tracks I’m not the biggest fan of, five years n bachelorette mostly. But the heights of unravel and AIFOL just are pure bliss. Truly a top tier album, topped only by bjork herself with Vespertine

Nice reaction to an amazing song, have always loved this. I take the lyrics at face value, it's sort of a Buddhist message, and the repetition also resembles a Buddhist chant or mantra. The video, I take as an extension of the same message, all is full of love, even robots can find love. Also, both robots have Bjork's face, a nod to self love as well. This song has been great help through rough times for me. ♥️

ah, i highly appreciate that you start to do your homework! thanks for this reaction! i don't know why they've made this 4K-version, since the original video has a super high quality. but anyway, this girl is ruling the music scene for more than four decades and the homogenic-vespertine-volta-aera is pure bliss with timeless masterpiece after masterpiece. the effort she puts in her videos is insane and this one here is for a good reason named under the very best music videos of all times. she has put iceland onto the world map of music and became synonymous for a whole nation. and that is something not everyone is able to achieve. eivor did it for the faeroer islands as well. i reccomend the music video for "wanderlust" to digg deeper into her work, since this one is another milestone in music video production. her vocal skills are really insane and if you see her live on stage she has a massive presence. i love most of her work but i have also to admit that her last two albums are not really my cup of tea for they sound so complicated and her vocal style has changed. maybe i have to grow more into them. if you have time to watch a björk-documentary: do it! she is really ahead of time eversince she started to create music.

Certain Talents can Transcend Time. Bjork's one of them. This could be released Today and still be as impactful and Praised. When it comes to BJORK'S Discography, she's one of the few Artists who I Highly Recommend Watching The Music Videos as well. She Tells and Interprets a Story (an extension of the Musical Lyrics she composes in her Albums) If You ever Delve in2 her Discography, start from Debut and go in order. This Video's interpretation is about The Time (1997) and the Cusp of Technology (Analog into Digital, Automated Computerized Mass Production etc...) Leaping forward and How even tho Tech and Machinery was infiltrating and overtaking our world. Even the most Cold and Sterile of things are made with Love and Care and how those Gadgets Carefully and Methodically create everyday human products & Necessities .

While the music video for this song is excellent and thought provoking, I recommend people listen to the song without the vide first. Most music videos can be distracting from the music. The harmony, chord progression, and lyrics are Perfectly matched is such a rare way in music today. Truly a perfectly written song. The way the music resolves back to the Tonic when she says, Love, or "Turn Around". And the endless chord progression loop of the fading chorus with "C" is just perfection. She's an absolute master harmony and song writing. And of course her voice is so unique and special. Truly 1 of 1. Bjork is one of those rare artists whose music is medicine for the soul, and All Is Full of Love is the perfect example of that.

All is full of love, Love is Everywhere! Björk said she wrote this after a dark period finally stepping out and seeing that love is all acompasing and that even if you are not getting it from the person you want to get it from, Love is still all around you. To me the Video shows that even within robots/artificial intelligence Love exists... (less Romantic but Chris Cunningham also said his two favorite things are Robots and Porn and he just thought that it would aesthetically really fit the Song. He's not wrong lol. Björk actually showed up with a Kama Sutra book as the only reference for what she had in mind for the Video )

Hi John, some record labels block unedited videos for visual content due to copyright reasons. On those videos, you have to go back, edit the video to where youtube will allow it, and then re-upload it. This unfortunately was one of the videos. It's a lot of extra work I wish I didn't have to do on top of that.

The symbolism of this video is not that difficult. We see a machine being assembled, repaired or dismantled by other machines. There is nothing erotic about it, yet the white substance flowing out of the oblongs, moving in a reciprocating motion, is an obvious suggestion of sexual intercourse. And finally, we see a female android reciprocating the affections of another android of the marked same sex. Again, this is a scene that could be interpreted as being about love, if one changes one's perception of machines and begins to see them as sentient beings. And finally, the third moment where Bjork says that love is a matter of perception. Two women making love, homosexuality, according to some, different from true love. Bjork conveys her message with three scenes in one scene: lesbian love, love between androids and a machine mending a machine. Everything is full of love, only you don't see it. It's a matter of perception. If you just start to perceive an action performed by someone or something towards someone or something else as being performed FOR that someone or something, everything is full of love.

I can see where you are coming from. Have you seen the video of the robot Sophia singing this song? In that example it was definitely a persuasion toward accepting AI, but I think for Bjork, the video was more symbolic. Still though, I get your point.

This is a masterpiece by Björk. The video won numerous Awards in 1999 and especially in 2000 (including 2 awards at the MTV Video Music Awards). Björk is a chameleon as an artist and has created her own genre. You can find a good overview of their creativity in the linked video from the Concert in the Royal Opera House (kzread.info/dash/bejne/d45_r8p8o7jdl6g.html).
