    Terrific vid. Well Jimi you continue to monopolize the top recommendation to my searches. Good on you buddy. I’m pondering getting the Bitz because I’m stepping away from my Ez three fletch jig (which is awesome) to start using lower profile 4 fletching. I have a Jojan but is just a pita to use. Gonna have to get this jig because the strong magnet on that thing looks clutch.

    🔴🎾🌎🔵🐸 thx Jimi , I just got blizenburger, I am kinda figuring it out but a little scared, thanks for showing me the wrong way to set up. I never seen a video showing me the a fan, way to do something wrong first, but it's a great way to learn. We learn from our mistakes. You are awesome like some kinda Greek arrow God. I am so glad to find a video to help me learn to fletch and l was surprised to find it was you my favorite archery guy guru, thanks man I am now ready to dive into it. I owe all my success and (failures ) to you. Oh did I mention I found you after I upped my bow madness to 2018 evolve and just so happened while I was surfing the tube I discovered you and your newt Evolve UN-boxing , just curious if you still have it? Never get seen ya shoot it. But I am still discovering videos. Anyhoot still I love the hell out of mine everyday and shoot the madness in the rain and kept it for my bros!👍

    Love this video it is the most helpful i have found on any website or forum. Do you know how to set a 3 degree helical or how to calculate the degree with whatever length of vane you are using? I am using blazer vanes and heard 3 degree is the best configuration but dont know how to exactly calculate that. Of course i could buy the bohning helix jig but thats a right helical and i want left due to my string having a left twist. Thank you so much for the help!!

    I like that jig. May have to check into it. I have been looking at some that I could fletch three vanes at once. Have you ever used one? I was in a shop a while back that was using one. I use an old one that I have had since the 90s.

    U lose distance with helical but gain a little stability make sure u helical with the natural rotation of the shaft other wise it fights itself and dont work if u didnt know every arrow brand will spin a different way out of your bow so if y but a right helical on a shaft that spins left it will spin left for the first 20m then reverse back to right when the helical kicks it u can test it with shooting bare shafts at 5 m and see what way they rotate naturally and helical in the direction

    U can only do as much off set as the vane and shaft will let u once U go over the limit the edge pokes up and catches the wind and will rip off

  • @JimiEllis

    U can off set straight and helical off set is the angle of the vane on the arrow helical just means the vanes r twisted

  • @shred_alaska

    @@JimiEllis I understand that but the offset adjustment has the front and back knob you offset both of them not just one to do offset right? Also like 2 degree front 2 degree back would be 2 degree helical not 4?

  • @Vincerama

    @Vincerama

    @@shred_alaskawatch the video again, he twiddles with the lower knob until the back of the vane sits flush on the shaft, then locks it in and repeats with the top knob. So he doesn't start with a zero offset, just wherever the clamp places the back of the vane.

  • @JimiEllis

    @JimiEllis

    Yeah clamp makes the helical but the jig make the off set so u could have a helical vane that is straight on the arrow if that makes sence

    Maybe this comment might be a bit heretical. The arguments I have seen for using helical fletches are that they make the arrow spin, imparting stability just like the rifling on a bullet. But bullets spin because they *don't* have fletches. Further, unguided missiles, darts, flechettes and long rod penetrators (used in smooth bore artillery rounds) are more similar to arrows than bullets. But guess what...they don't spin - they use only the fins to impart stability. So, my question: is there any evidence (not opinions, but solid research) that helical fletches actually make arrows more accurate?

    +hutch1363 Thanks for the link. I have read it before and I agree that it's not very scientific. You'd need to shoot way more arrows and take the archer out of the equation.
