Trust was not only restored... it grew. When they listen AND they take action it speaks to how they view their customers. They value us more than their product and as a consumer you feel compelled to want it more because they make you feel like you matter. 100% agree I trust them even more now.

Really good points in regards to relationships, having conversations, and building trust. I feel the same as you. I JUST got interested in Bitwig less than a month ago, and before this, I didn't really know the company. I just knew what others said about it. Now I feel like I've seen for myself... and I like what I see. People make mistakes. Groups of people make collective mistakes. The more uncommon part is when they own up to their mistake and correct it to the best of their ability. That's exactly what Bitwig did here.

Thank you for this video ! Cockos, the developer of Reaper DAW , hasn't "The Dark Side Of Capitalism" in its Dictionary. This company is one of the very few, not beeing greedy at all and gives outstanding user support within the Reaper community. I can't prove it but (being a Reaper user for 15 years), i strongly believe that in the end, everything you can do in Bitwig, you should be able to do in Reaper, be it with the use of scripts and taking (much?) time to configure things the way you want it for your workflow. You problaby will experience that you can make way faster workflows in Reaper than you are using in BW. Not trying to diss BW, just my 2 cents ofcourse ! Kind regards.

I've played around a little bit with Reaper in the past, and based on my experience, I tend to agree with you. Cockos doesn't seem like a hugely commercial company. And I also think that Reaper offers endless possibilities. However, to many people convenience is also worth a lot. They don't want to spend a lot of time configuring their DAW, but want to be able to start using it "out of the box". So I think that that's a clear choice people have: do you want a DAW that is extremely flexible or do you want a DAW that is ready to go immediately?

I do like what Reaper stands for and it's a great DAW. I'd probably use it if Bitwig didn't exist. Yes, Reaper makes is easy to edit code and gives you great freedom to customize it as you please, which I love. Unfortunately, Reaper is missing features that Bitwig has, such as a Grid where you can play around and build your own sounds (without having to code everything yourself), it has a very intuitive clip launcher and gives you great flexibility with note editing such a probability, note repetition etc. not to mention the amazing midi devices it has built it. I can go on and on with the comparisons, but ultimately there are many things I miss from Bitwig when using Reaper, more so than vice versa.

Well you might want to look into Bespoke Synth because its GPL free software. Ardour is another open source daw.

The fact they offered the upgrade free after the community was upset seems a bit shady. Give FL Studio a try. REAL free upgrades for life 😁. Best of luck on your journey! It’s to bad because Bitwig is such on innovative fun Daw

The most I’d hoped for was Bitwig to honour current plan holders (mine ran out before it was released) as they had signed up for 12 months of all software updates which is basically what this was. This decision is really good the the consumer and has restored a lot of faith in Bitwig. People from the community have been buying upgrade plans at full price even though theirs are still active to show support. I genuinely believe they needed more money to put into development and it wasn’t all about profit, they just went the wrong way about it!

Hallo Supercy, why are you on a quest for a new main DAW? Wasn't that Studio One? Just curious :) I'm still on the fence about S1 v6. Groeten!

Goede vraag Carsten 😉 I guess the main reason is this: I've been planning to engage in some live looping activities, so I hoped that Presonus would add some Ableton-like live looping/clip-launching features to Studio One. Unfortunately, they didn't.

@@SupercyMusic perhaps they might upgrade that new live page with such a feature. I’d like that too since I’m doing more electronic style music lately (My usual gig is doing epic orchestral / rock / metal stuff and S1 is great for that). We zullen zien.

@@SupercyMusic now that I think of it you perhaps could do live clip triggering using Impakt, and do loops with the patterm feature… but I guess that’s more clunky than Ableton.

Every product/company can only dream of having such a passionate community… I don’t think it was ever about $ for us users it was trust and agreements… in the end I think the users were able to make requests for how bitwig could generate more revenue without breaking trust or agreement’s… Clap is the only midi 2.0 spec’ed plugin format 🤷‍♂️. I’d love to see bitwig invest in Clap. I’d love see clap adopted in other DAW’s… Bitwig developed clap largely in house, I’d love to see the bitwig team show off what it’s capable of!!!❤(grid.. cough, cough)
