The opponnent is smurfing, he wanted to keep less rating than he is, I do that sometimes at well to play and chill, I try the cloud bong and crazy openings at low level for fun.

I understand now why there is a course for this opening. So, so complicated, but very nice dynamic positions!

I think this player was exquisitely prepared, popular KZreadr often underestimate their influence in online chess. I play vienna and have Levys course and 60-70%% of my opponents know theory until move 8 and I'm 800 elo blitz, 1100 rapid. Since the release of Daniels course I suddenly have to know theory of the Jobava because I get demolished with engine lines otherwise. Before that I only faced Levys london system which is easier to handle. Great game, lovely analysis as always, might buy your course in the future.

Same when facing the King's Indian Defence. Lots of opponents know exactly what to do up to 10 moves in. Makes it very hard unless you also know how to face it. Many of my losses have been from exceptionally well-prepared opponents who aren't necessarily stronger but far better prepared.

@@tacticalAneurysm Well it's all about luck in queue. Some people know theory very well even on lower ELO thanks to Levy and other YTers and some have no fu***** idea what they are doing. You simply are lucky (nothing wrong with it) as I have seen 10+ theory below 1000 in VG. I personally played VG before Levy course and than I stopped and switched to KG as I'm generally unlucky and faced tone of prep up to move 15. In KG at least noone knows theory well. In general playing openings on which well-known youtoubers just released courses is risky below 2k on com. I definitely wouldn't recommend this if you are unlucky dude. Better to switch, wait out couple of months and only than check what's up. Often it is already safe but obviously there are cases like Stafford where the wisest is to forget about opening at all. Sucks. Alternatively do some heavy push-ups up to move 25 with SF if the opening is totally legit. I have to admit I envoy your luck :D Luck in online chess is easily worth 300 elo.

@@crystallized1676 ​ i have played the vienna against a lot of people at the 800-1000 level and they never play mainline theory, but sometimes can throw me off guard with an interesting and challenging sideline that makes me worse out of the opening. i don't think most people don't have 15 moves of prep against an uncommon opening such as the vg or kg unless they play it. it's easy to overestimate your opponent, feel like you have been incredibly unlucky or feel like they have done in depth prep to counter your specific opening but usually they are just making it all up as they go and occasionally being right. i don't know 15 moves of theory in any line, just general ideas and plans beyond move 7-12 in some openings, and i doubt most people at that rating range do. my 900 rated friend who plays 1...e5 doesn't even know what the vienna is and he does just fine.

Damn this is the first time I see Danya this flustered and making this many mistakes, that was an awesome video actually. GMs are human after all. (This makes me REALLY wanna jump onto Lichess and play some rapid games XD) BTW if everyone buys the course and prepares with an engine way BEYOND the course recommended line, doesn’t Danya have to update his course frequently (like Chessable course updates) to deal with anti-course lines? Just a thought.

The main point of a course is usually to give you the ideas and configurations that arise from the setup. Chess still has to be played.

The moment at 7 mins is a clear indication of almost seeing too much. He was so quick to see the risk to his rook (that calculation was literally a few seconds) that he didn't see the more prosaic trade being planned.

To me the craziest nuance about ... Qe8 is that it eyes the knight on a4, so after ... Rd8 and ... d4 there are some ideas with ... Nd4. It might still be slightly better for White but I'm trying it in my next Jobava game, it looks so poisonous against an unprepared opponent.

That's a highly illegal move

There was a nasty fork at 26:33 min where he puts the bishop at square c6 and if Pxc6 then Nxc6 with forking the 2 rooks at d8 and d4. while also regarding the fork that Naroditsky noticed with f3.

A lot of "grey area" in this clip. Speed run, even with the elo point refund, is not exactly 100% ethical. And Danya's opponent plays a line that suprise him, so not exactly "stream snipe".

Why is Qe8 in move 10 from black better than Qc7? Qc7 looks much more intuitive to me, because now the Queen is not blocking the rook on f8. I thought the tactile ideas would be the same for black. If white castle's black can still play Ne4, and it looks like the line works the same way. So why would I put my Queen on e8, if the same ideas work with Qc7? Anyway, it is good to realize that all this Ne4 ideas can be prevented with playing Na4. Very instructive Danya!

I haven't looked at it too closely, but at 36:05, if you move imagine the same position but the queen on c7, I think white has Nxd5, gaining a tempo on the queen on c7. Not 100% sure. Crazy position for sure.

does black have Bxf3 at 26:20? if you take back you lose the rook and a few pawns edit: nvm he mentions it

I was following along in the course with my phone's stockfish on and both the 10 QE8 and 11. Ne4(!) were recommended by the engine. The course ends on move 9

This 2 rook vs rook + b + n endgame structure appeared in a Tal game, almost identical position, and Hellsten’s “Mastering Endgame Strategy” shows that game as an example of how to use rook to dominate minor pieces

Wouldn't be surprised if Black planned that queen move based on your course using an engine... they were clearly trying to match with you by resigning games without moving

It seems a lot simpler for black to invert …c5 and …a6, as in 3…c5 intending …cd followed by …a6. See Jobava-Nepo 0-1.

oponent is just very suspicuos. Extremely new account and since this game he has changed his name and banner flag. played very few games and two of them against danya. either a cheater or a stream sniper.

Just a comment about stream sniping in general: Is it not worthwhile to simply have a bit of delay to avoid that? As opposed to "test" with talking about bad moves as the "only move" etc. Poker players obv do that while streaming so why not the same for chess?
