Nice video! I'm in the process of building a pair from scratch. From my research, the cork bed is made up of shreded cork and liquid latex mixed together. I'm interested how this "whole cork" repair went. I'm working on a video to show the process I'm going through, but this was helpful to see! Nice job!

I would do that to fix my Birkenstocks, but I’d use up all the corks fixing the fingers I cut in the band saw. Good job!

Don’t know if you do it but what helps the cork from breaking down, you need to occasionally add cork sealant.

Haha love this Bob! I guess you are the only one on this planet with wine cork Birkenstocks! Great job. To prevent deteriorating of the cork you can buy some stuff that looks like wood glue. I use pattex extreme repair to repair and cover the cock of my Birkenstocks before it’s gone.

This is an innovative idea! Would be great if you did a tutorial on the measurements, etc. for other people who'd be interested in doing this! How have they held up in the past few months since you posted this?

What about sealing the cork. I repaired my pair once and the repair broke apart easier than the original.

An original birkenstock cork bed is made of latex and cork. I would have just build up the broken parts with small pieces of cork and contact glue then seal it up with a cork sealer. Done these multiple times and mine never broke apart.
