Birds of northern South Africa part 2
Around 150 of the most common birds of the northern provinces of south Africa have been recorded during the month of December (South African summer). Mostly during road side birding (using the car as birdhide) in natural reserves and NP's. Since more than 900 species have been recorded in South Africa, this is only a very small sample of the more common species! Labelling to the best of our knowledge. Part 1 and 2 shot in Dino Keng NR, the Rietvlei NR, the Groenkloof university campus, the Pretoria botanical gardens and Austin Roberts Bird sanctuary.
Part 3 and 4 during a weekend in Kruger NP.

Thank you for the lack of narration. It was so refreshing to just look and listen to the birds. Amazing photography.

Thanks to Guy for posting this great series of videos. It is proving to be a great help in preparation for our trip to Zambia. He was gracious in allowing me to offer alternate identification on some of the birds. At 8:21 (Sobata Lark) - the simple 2 or 3 part song is a better fit for Rufous-naped Lark, as is the longish bill. At 8:51 (African Goshawk) - the prominent yellow cere and pale throat would be more in line with Little Sparrowhawk.

Could you perhaps assist please? At 1:15 - 1:25 There is a bird call (3-part flute-like call), I have been trying to have it identified for ages to no avail.. Do you know what bird that is?

@@rusanliventer9300 Sorry, I do not know. It is hard for me to identify birds outside on my home area by sound alone. Are you going to Africa by any chance?

@@rusanliventer9300 It looks like you live in Africa! I would try to locate a local birder that might know the bird's call, or you could try a professional guide such as Birding Ecotours that covers that area.

Hope you don't mind the correction, but iguanas are native to South & Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, but not to Africa. The lizard shown here is an agama. 🙂
simply awesome footage. Love the content of birding. great channel.

Very nice Guy!
Экзотика птичьего царства поражает просто ....
Wow, i am impressed by how many countries you have visited. I am a bird lover, the more i observe them, the more i can appreciate the perfection of their evolutionary design. I think they are millions of years ahead of us for living in symbiosis with planet earth while we are only a rogue specie overconfident and drunk with our fast rise to dominance but clearly conflicting with our natural environment. Your videos are superb and inspirational. Showing birds is the best way to help save them from us by saving their trees habitat. What do you think of planet earth in general ?
fANTASTIC FOOTAGE more sound would have been good
