A Quiet Place is far superior than Bird Box and I still don't understand why some people think it's amazing. Bird Box is okay. It's not super horrible, but it's at least entertaining at times. You can tell that it's less artistic and more company-driven, and while there's nothing exactly wrong with that, it gets kind of annoying when people praise it for being a perfect horror movie, simply because it's not. A Quiet Place, however, is special. The story isn't about fighting monsters or not making a sound (I mean, yes, it includes that), but in the end, it's about the characters. No matter how good a concept is, if you don't care about the characters, then it just won't be entertaining. It's a story about a family, and it's a beautiful story. Thank GOODNESS you made this video. I agree with all of your points. It's relieving to finally see someone calling out most of what bothers me about Bird Box. Thanks for making this video. I prefer Bird Box. I would rather be able to see, than being able to hear. Sure, hearing is super important, but if you can't see, you're basically guaranteed death someway, like falling off a cliff. I think humanly, Bird Box is much better, but cinematically? No, A Quiet Place has a much better production and acting scheme than Bird Box. It was just executed better. Although I'm putting Bird Box to the side, it's caveats works well for it at times and just the idea, makes me prefer the movie over The Quiet Place.

A Quiet Place is so good. Lee’s death was so heartbreaking and sweet. I really love that movie. I’ve seen it once with both my parents as one of my mom’s co workers lent it to us and I LOVE that movie.

Great video! But you forgot to mention how GOOD was music and soundtracks in A quite place. It really made me feel.

The only thing that annoys me in a quiet place is that no one thought of finding a noise to hurt the aliens. I thought of it after the kid died

Watching A Quiet Place, there was only one time where I noticed the rules were bent a little. Which is simply "where were they getting their power from"? The power stations wouldn't be running anymore, and gas powered generators make noise. And I don't remember if they had solar panels, which they might have had but I just didn't notice. Overall though, AQP was a very solid, well done horror film. Don't exactly know why Bird Box has gotten so much attention.

The original was dark and scary and wasn't cheesy! I’ve never bothered with Bird Box, for pretty much all of the complaints you just listed. People constantly complain about it; on the other hand, my only real caveat with A Quiet Place was the occasionally dumb choices some of the characters made, but those were scarce. And yes, Krasinski is amazing in a serious role, not just a comedic one! At present, Us has piqued my curiosity the most this year, and A Quiet Place was my favorite horror film of last year.

I know it’s very specific but that’s scream at the end where he knew he was going to die was the best acting sacrifice I’ve ever seen In that situation I would be scared as fuck so my shout would not come out as brave but it would come out loud nonetheless and that’s exactly when he portrayed was a terrified man knowing he’s about to die horribly but he has no other Way to save his kids

The extra reason for quiet place being better is that they have a sequel and not bird box

Falling down a steep hill with a bunch of loud, big plants would not sound anything like stepping on them. If Sandra Bullock's character really wanted these kids to survive just as good as her, I'm sure she would tell them what to do when one of them, including herself, was hurt. They didn't even react to how she suddenly disappeared on their part.

Sandra's character didn't name her children not to make her look tuff but because she had emotional and maybe psychological issues that was pretty much stated at the beginning of the movie

I feel like she named them boy and girl to grow less attached to them when they maybe eventually die, so thats why she gave them names in the end because she knew they were now safe

I'd really like a review of some old horror episodes of doctor who (like Blink or the Empty Child) against some newer ones (like It Takes You Away or Knock Knock). Actually, I just want you to talk about Doctor Who in general.

You want to know why quiet place succeeded? Because it negates a sensory feature that most people don't require to watch a movie; sound. Bird Box negates the only way it can be viewed; sight.

I "see" what you mean, pun intended! The concept of Bird Box works more as a book. I haven't read the whole thing so maybe the execution may not be as great. But the idea of negating sight seems to work better in a book.

I like both movies, though I prefer A Queit Place overall. I do agree with you, Eric on how the crazy guy who infiltrated the survivors' house, Gary, was a major plot hole. The scares are inconsistent in some parts and raise questions, such as why are the animals immune to seeing the creatures but not humans. But here's a big one: how long did it take for Malorie and Olympia to give birth? Gary's reveal that he was infected by the sightless creatures was exposed almost right after the girls gave birth. It was still morning when they gave birth! How long were they in labor, 2 hours?! How long does it take for the crazy people to be shown that their eyes have changed?

malorie's excuse for not giving them names is so she doesn't get t attached in case they die

I like bird box but I wouldn’t say it’s GREAT, like it’s a pretty okay movie I mean the cast is good for a quiet place, since it’s Emily blunt for crying out loud, Sandra bullocks a great actress aswell The quiet place would win since it’s got lots of life stories with different ways of survival, whereas bird box has like 1 chance of survival, and it’s story is a lot more personal Plus a sequel is planned for a quiet place,

Fun fact: the crew behind a quiet place hired local farmers in upstate New York to grow the 20 tonnes of corn needed for the scene when the son and daughter whose name I cant remember sadly fall down the silo and they even built that silo which was 70ft tall.

the little kid with the rocket ship was not raised in the quite society. they were only 49 days into the invasion.

I dont agree with A Quite Place expertly building up the creatures. They show the full creature in the very opening scene. It may be short but that alone is enough to ruin some of the tension. Imagine if you never saw it jump like that. But just saw it sprint like a lightning through the forrest. And then in a closeup you saw the kid getting tackled. And then saw it sprint further through the forrest after grabbing the kid. And then for the rest of the film until an actual reveal they had you see them in the distence in the dark. Or in a blurry background. But it is much better than bird box. Though 9/10 is stretching it a bit i think. Its your score and its fine. I just dont see the sense in giving that a 9/10. But Alien, One of the top 10 best horror movies and top 40 best movies ever made (Something i found out through 2 days of research and calculation) a 7/10. That is the score i gave aquaman

Right after their boat crashed and they got segregated from one another because the mother fell down a hill? At this moment they heard their mothers voice telling them to put off their blinds....nonetheless it is stupid, I know that. But they really thought it was her. And it was also said that there is one track on their boat trip where they have to put off the blinds to navigate their boat correctly. Bc they didn`t do that their boat crashed....so maybe that was also a point why the daughter pulled of the blinds. Because she was afraid of further damages if they do not open their eyes for even a short amount of time

Bird box was terrifying in the sense that when you see the trees slamming around with nothing being there, knowing the creatures are so big on the second floor looking out the window from across the room they could still get you,it sends a chill down your spine because we don’t know there or not demons are real and it’s just scary the fear of the unknown A quiet place is terrifying in the sense that the tension in the air is palpable I would say that’s probably one of the closest comparisons in the movies and the only thing bird box gives a quiet place a run for it’s money with,

In my opinion a quiet place was quite a lot better than bird box especially because of all the tension that builds up when it's always so quiet and then they are in a situation where they might die very likely. Bird box wasn't bad though, it just didn't have all that tension and felt less like a horror movie to me but I loved Tom as a character because he was so selfless but that already made me know what his fate would be. However, it felt sometimes as the movie tried to really force us to like him so that his death would feel more tragic but the actor executed the job perfectly. For a quiet place however it didn't seem like they forced us to like Lee Abbott and it felt a lot more natural to like him from everything he did for his family and he was my favourite character in that movie.
