Ty for the video! We are adopting a Jenday this week she’s a rescue around 15 years old coming to her forever home. Not our first bird btw. ❤️but we were told she was never socialized growing up so is fear full of hands and often people. We are quite excited and know it will more than likely take a long while to bond. My past birds all bonded with me except one who was an abused rescue. This will be our first conure as well we just can’t express how excited we are to bring her home. We got an area all ready for her that’s in the living room in a corner so she can be alone when needed and interact with us when she’s ready. ❤

I have adopted two green cheeked Conures’s and one is horribly aggressive. I have been calmly and slowly trying to get him to trust me by instinct doing everything you mention but he still rears back picked up one foot and lunges at me as if to say YA WANNA PIECE OF ME. I am trying to stay positive but I about ready to throw in the towel and figure I am destined to have emotional broken Conures’s I also have a 35 year ole blue crowned come who refuses to be personal unless her previous owner is over then it’s like she wants to show off and get on my shoulder. Any advise, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, for the love of conures ♥️♥️♥️

My birds don’t like being touched in their cage. If they fly down, then they will perch on your finger, but on or in the cage they will run or bite you.

Thank you for doing this video!! I love how you interact with your birds and are able to have fun and laugh!! 🥰🥰 I am curious if you know how conures would do with kids? My daughter is 9 and my son is 4. Also would it be a bad idea to get two conures at one time? Thank you!!!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Tbh it depends on the bird but it also depends on the kids.. I’ve heard of some species not being so great with kids though - tune in to The Parrot Podcast for parronts experiences! Parrots are a big responsibility, time commitment and if you don’t focus on training, bonding, diet etc then behaviours like biting can occur, something to be mindful of with kids around!

Hello, I’m just curious that some sun Conure colors look different for example, some of them have a green spot on their faces and have darker color can you explain that for me?

  • @PoodlesandParrots

When they are more green this means they are juvenile conures so they are young typically before 1 year and once they molt they become more yellow 😊😊💛

HELP!! So I'm thinking I already messed up. I can't get my bird to perch on my hand or arm. he has been coming out of his cage tho, he's happy to see me, but when I approach him with my hand or a perch he backs up. I get him back in a cage by having to catch him with a hand towel. I hate doing this. I feel like its killing our relationship. I'v tried to sit in fron of his door and attempt to have him let me take him out since hes so excited to come out. But No Go. Should I just close the door? I feel thats a puishment tho? Pls. Pls. help, anyone

I would encourage you to check out more of our videos and podcast episodes to help you learn and understand your bird better. Forcing anything including interaction or catching him with a towel is only going to make things worse. Punishment doesn’t work with birds and will be detrimental to your relationship. If you need or want more one on one advice I suggest a consultation with Sophie and David at bestbehavedbirds.com

Thanks for video! How long should I give my bird? He’s almost 4 months and I give him treats thru the bar. I had him for ab 1.5 weeks. If I put my hand in the cage he tolerates as long as it’s not too close. He did step on to my finger today to eat some Papaya. His wings are clipped. He got out twice. Since I had the cage door open. He went under the bed and it was hard to get him but eventually I did. He will step onto chopstick if he’s out on the floor but doesn’t like it Should I keep the cage open? We haven’t targeted yet
