    I can't even watch the lobotomy scene when I play this DLC. The horror of such a thing is executed with perfect precision to the extent that you can imagine how painful it would be. Also shows you how brutal Atlas/Fontaine really is: he's a psychopath that's incapable of empathy or attachment and will do anything to achieve his goals. In the end, Andrew Ryan achieved his goal in attracting a person who represents pure Machiavellian manner, avarice, and pragmatics to work the free market. Scary stuff.

    The real explanation is that the nosebleeds occur when thinking about things they can’t understand. It is all so much they literally are harmed physically. Booker experienced this in both the normal game and dlc when he thinks about his origins. They can’t think about other time lines, it’s just too much. Elizabeth WAS special, so it didn’t affect her, but in this she is just normal so it does.

    @@theminecraftiers007 it is because she already posses omniscience it is only limited and controlled by Comstock through the siphon in her tower. And another reason why she wasn't affected by it because she she gained her powers by coexisting in multiple realities at the same time anna in Comstock's reality and the pinky in booker's reality. Also she was made whole again in the 2nd part of the dlc regained her pinky by coming to rapture again where another version of her is already dead that is why she lost her omniscience.

    Booker: You know Atlas is going to... Elizabeth: Yes. And I'm ready. Booker: Are you sure? Elizabeth: Yes. This is the exact same conversation Booker and Elizabeth had before Booker goes into the door and let other Elizabeth drown himself to repay his debt. It is so moving to see that Booker passed his attitude toward redemption to Elizabeth. They both decided to sacrifice theirselves for others, even those that they barely know. I believe that it is because of Booker Elizabeth chose to sacrifice herself for Sally, just like Booker did for her.

    Dude,what you did is something to be recognized...that is the most rational analysis on youtube about the chain of events regarding Bioshock Infinite and its DLCs Burial at the sea I~II. It is amazing how you've put it all together. To a greater extent, what I take from all of this is a message behind the story, a big lesson for everyone to learn, and surely that's what it makes a game greater than just the fun of playing - something practical, which we can apply on our lives: Let us not become exactly the same thing as the ones we criticize for wrongdoing, because if we do, we'll set an infinite cycle of perpetuating errors, to an extant it will shape our and other's realities exactly into what we wouldn't desire. Let us not fall into the sinister trap of being a monster to fight up monsters, or we will generate a monstruous reality, where is hard to tell right from wrong (as manicheistic as it may seem). I want to thank you for helping me achieve this meta-message behind it all.

  • @allnotathome

    +JV2017gameplay I think you've overlooked the fact that the REAL badguy(girl) in the game was not Comstock, but Rosalind Lutece. She was the one who helped Comstock create his Aryan Wonderland. She was the one who trapped Liz in the tower with her technology. She was the one without who Comstock could have never stolen Booker's child. The whole game was Booker being manipulated, abused, and brutalized, just so Rosalind could make sweet-sweet incestual love with herself, in a form of her "brother". Liz should not have drowned Booker at the end of Infinite, she should have beaten Rosalind's ugly skull in with a rusty tire iron, before Comstock approached her with a plan to build Columbia.

    +Kieran Grundfast Fontaine refers to Jack as "freak of nature" because he is genetically altered with growth stimulating substances because at the events of bioshock 1 he is basically 2 Years old. Jack hijacks his own plane as this is what was programmed into him( by mental conditioning) as first task after his activation: to crash the plane exactly at the location of Raptures Lighthouse.

    +allnotathome you're right & mistaken at the same time, the Luteces's only did what they did to get back on Comstock for being murdered by him, but then they found themselves in a time loop, one which they could have gotten out of but being the scientists that they are they decided instead to take it as an opportunity to perform a social experiment, they start tracking Comstock, DeWitt & Elizabeth's choices through all the worlds to see if one of them will do something different, which none of them do, they all keep repeating the same choices, until one of the Elizabeth's finds a way to close the loop by preventing Anna from being kidnapped and sending her to trap the DeWitt that would become Comstock in a cage universe and killing him there before the baptism loop restarts......and they weren't having sex

    You missed out a nice little throwback they added where one of the Little Sisters which first imprinted on the Big Daddy that killed Suchong is called "Masha". This was the abducted girl in the audio logs in the original Bioshock, with the mum mourning about losing her and then finding her as a Little Sister. So depressing to listen to those audio logs, but this was a nice touch to add a bit of consolation in knowing that while Masha may have been kidnapped and turned into a Little Sister, she played a pivotal part in Rapture and contributed to the death of Suchong.

    I'd like to clear up a common misconception. The nosebleeds aren't caused by, or symbolic of death in another universe, although it is used as a tool for foreshadowing in this episode. The nosebleeds are caused when a false memory that the mind made up (remember the quote) contradicts the actual memory that they have forgotten when entering another universe. Elizabeth's nose bleeds because she sees herself dead, but she knows she's alive. She has two memories, each telling her that the other one is false. Her brain can't comprehend that, so her nose bleeds. Think of it as her brain short-circuiting, but instead of sparks there's blood. That's also what happened to Booker in Infinite, and Comstock in Episode 1.

    On thing you may have overlooked at 34:15 she mentions that she sold Sally, Elizabeth is the one who took Sally and sold her just so Commstock/Booker could relive his guilt of killing Anna and eventually lead him to his death to achieve her vengeance. Elizabeth deliberately set it all into motion that’s why the Lutece’s were comparing her to Booker sayin the apple did not fall far from the tree. Hence why Elizabeth feels so guilty for having left there because if what happened to Sally would have happened without Elizabeth’s interference why would she go out of her way to do right in this one instance. It like when Andrew Ryan says it’s like Isaac Newton running into a burning building to save his cat only for him to set the house on fire and in the case of Bioshock Elizabeth. Booker sells Anna to wipe away his debt. Then gets a chance of redemption to save her. Elizabeth steals and sells Sally to allow Commstock to reformulate his guilt about Anna and leads him to be killed by the big daddy. Then Elizabeth goes back to save Sally after having used her to exact her revenge.

    My personal belief (and therefore not anything to rely on) is as follows: Just as the "Booker" you play in Bioshock Infinite is killed, the "Elizabeth" you worked with in Bioshock Infinite is killed at the end of this story... and therefore, it is the last of the Comstocks and Elizabeths... But I think the last scene of the original Bioshock Infinite is a timeline where Booker doesn't take the Baptism (and therefore does not become Comstock) and does not sell his daughter as there is no Comstock to sell her to. Therefore, Anna grows up as Booker's daughter and therefore having never been given to Comstock, she never becomes Elizabeth. The mysterious end scene of Bioshock Infinite is never shown as we will never know what that timeline will be... aside from the fact that there will never be a Comstock or Elizabeth in it. Only a Booker and an Anna.

    Randy Parsons You know... I wonder if there is just the ONE universe... and that we're not walking into alternate universes as we normally think of them, but just into the essence of possibility. When Booker goes through the tear, he suddenly has memories of helping Slade form the revolution... while also remembering his timeline before the tear. The people walking around remembering when they were dead. In either case, the story relies on alternate timelines to even make sense.

  • @randyparsons3188

    @randyparsons3188

    UncleMilo Well single timeline has more of a meaningful story. Bascially, our playthrough as Booker is all screwed to hell and back, and no one, except Eliz is good, they are all pretty much bad people. Solution? Get the hell out that of that universe. End of game. They try to make other universes very similar, but that makes no sense really. With one timeline it could be a struggle to get back to Dewitt when he was young, and change his path just slightly, so he doesn't turn into a psychopath. Back to the Future does it right, just subtle changes is all it takes. This game ends with your death and all you did being meaningless. The worker rebellion was cool. That's really all the plot you need, don't even need time travel.

    The nosebleeds that Booker and Elizabeth experienced were not marking them for the slaughter, even though they did ultimately die. In Infinite, Rosalind Lutece explained in a voxophone that her brother, Robert, when brought through a tear into her universe, experienced confusion and hemorrhage, the latter of which manifested externally as a nosebleed. She further explained that these symptoms were a result of the mind's attempts to reconstruct memories in an alternate version of reality. Up until now, only Elizabeth and the Luteces (following Comstock's destruction of their device and their resultant scattering among the possibility spaces) were immune to this effect. However, upon returning to Rapture in order to save Sally after she had essentially died in that universe, Elizabeth was subjected to a phenomenon about which the Luteces had warned her called quantum superposition. She could not occupy the same space twice, and by attempting to do so, she forfeited her ability to see and manipulate tears between the universes, was stripped of the omniscience they provided her, and was rendered just as vulnerable to the effects of entering such tears as Robert Lutece (initially) and Booker had been.

I thought is was just as good as the first game. But as time went on, I began to feel a little less amazed by it's complexity, the story didn't seem to stick with me as much as game 1 did. Then...I played Burial at Sea...and my god did that change everything. Now Infinite is completely different. Now it can stand alongside the first game as an equal, because the way that DLC tied everything together was astounding! Regardless of what potholes arrive from multiverse theory based narratives, this one makes it feel not only plausible but effective.

The question remains; If the Final Elizabeth died after Final Comstock, how is it possible that Elizabeth exists for Burial at Sea Part II?

  • @Fabian6980

    Bryan Egelhoff yes and no basically to put it in the simplest way the story repeats itself over and over again it starts with Anna getting kidnapped by comstock and anything that happened in the past before that happens aswell, and ends with booker killing all the comstocks and bookers at the point of his babtism of all universes to get rid of them in the present and future and finally it ends with Elizabeth dying in the end of rapture leaving no other Elizabeth's in the present or future so they all exist in the past up until getting to those points the babtism and Elizabeth's death after those two points theres no booker anna Elizabeth nor comstock so from the moment where booker goes back to his babtism timeline and kills himself theres no more comstocks and bookers after that point with the exception of that very last comstock that goes to rapture and changes back to booker but he gets taken care of. and from the beginning of the first bioshock game and on all of the elizabeths are dead since the Elizabeth that died at the end of burial at sea was the very last one.

    The way I understood it, this final Comstock is the result of his accidental beheading of Anna, this Elizabeth is the original from Infinite. That Booker, left with a decapitated baby Anna corpse is still alive, however that Comstock dies in Rapture, and Elizabeth dies there... twice... once with her powers, and the second time without them. The only one left is Booker... and the Lutece's if you care about them at all. His respective Comstock and Anna dead, the original Elizabeth was there when it happened. If that makes sense. Basically, trying not to repeat myself too much, the only one to survive in the end is the Booker from the lost head Anna reality.

    +Lyric Ltd It seems to me that there are an infinite number of Elizabeth's, which we only saw a few of at the end of bioshock infinite. The Elizabeth left at the end of infinite seems to have died just after the events of episode 1 and this is a different Elizabeth who decided to intervene in the events of this timeline. She gets the nose bleeds because she doesn't belong in this universe. That there was a Comstock who stole a baby from his younger self seems to be a popular thing in most timelines. Because Elizabeth doesn't have nosebleeds in infinite it means that she is from that same universe, just a little out of the regular timeline. I imagine that in some universes, there are Booker's that never had a kid and in others he had one and everything that happened in infinite never happened at all because he kept her. The one single Elizabeth at the end of infinite we see there was just the one from the timeline we were playing through, the others who were there could have simply been using tears on themselves to leave at the end. The idea that him dying at the baptism means there wasn't an Elizabeth doesn't seem to hold much weight, it would only mean that there would later be no Comstock. After the baptism he became Comstock and then becomes sterile by the machine so for there to be an Elizabeth in those realities she had to have been born before the baptism. It could be that the combination of the wars and him selling Anna could be what drives him to get baptized in the first place. Anyways the short of it is that since we didn't see an infinite number of Elizabeth's at the end of infinite that there are many more timelines with alternate outcomes left out there which we simply don't know about. Or I could be completely wrong ;)

    +Herp Derp She probably survived the same way the Luteces did. If you remember, In the universe that Comstock had them killed, because of their ''powers'' they didn't really ''die'', but instead, they simply disappeared from that timeline. So Elizabeth managed to survive thanks to her tear powers, just like the Luteces, but she couldn't go back to that exact timeline, because there she is dead unless she gives up her powers.

    The Luteces, unless i am very much mistaken are two halves of the same man (or woman). they represent the Animas and the Id The conscious and unconscientious entities (soul and spirit), or minds, if one is psychologically, rather than spiritually, inclined. Also, it might be of interest to you to learn that the Adam (or Adahm, in the Hebrew) is the life essence of man given to the creature made of dust that Almighty Yah(weh) created before He infused this creature with a spark of His Divine being. The Adam (or Adahm)is also infused with the DNA of the woman, eve. Without the duality of the Divine spark AND the DNA of Eve, a creature is NOT a human being. THIS is why the Big Daddies will not, indeed, CAN NOT imprint on the biogenetically engineered Little Sisters without the infusion of Adam (Adahm). the Lifeforce of a human being is found in the blood, along with oxygen and DNA. This, btw, debunks the entire self-elevating notion of atheists that "God" does not exist, save only in the mind of a human being. A fact that leads me to strongly believe that Ken Levine, and at least some of his creative team are, in fact, VERY spiritually invested people. If not, indeed, Christians. Throughout the Bioshock series, they point out the sheer folly, and dangerous-ness, of men, who fancy themselves their own "god/goddess.

Debates about it's gameplay in comparison to the original and 2 also came up. Burial At Sea Pt. 2 comes out. Took 4 hours to beat. Still discussing and debating to this day with no end in sight. You've got it, this is pretty much what I gathered from the story. Originally though I wasn't sure why Elizabeth decided to go back to Rapture, what she did to Sally was terrible, but it just wasn't clicking for me emotionally until I really started to think about it. At the end of Episode 1, Elizabeth becomes no better than Comstock, by killing him, she takes away Sally's foster parent, her only family left just as Comstock stole her from Booker. Then she leaves her in Rapture after she has become a Little Sister where she will be exploited and have no family. Once again this is exactly what Comstock did to her by locking her in a tower to groom her to fulfill his prophecy. The key line is "This world values children, not childhood" meaning Rapture will exploit Sally for it's own needs without giving her a childhood or a Father in the process. Comstock did the same by taking Elizabeth from her real father and locking her in a tower. THIS is why she goes back, she sees part of herself in Sally, both of them had their Fathers taken away and were exploited to fit the needs of others, and Elizabeth caused that to happen to Sally. The sacrifice she makes at the end wasn't just to save Sally, it was to give her what Elizabeth wanted but never had, Sally will have a father, she will have a childhood, she will grow up to be the woman she wants to be. It's too late for Elizabeth, she never had that chance but by going back, she gave Sally what she was never able to have.

    I believe that Elizabeth broke the circle of Booker to Comstock transformations by killing booker in the Baptism. But was always meant to start a new cycle by tracking down the last comstock setting off the beginning of the OG bioshock. I got that from the heavy implication of the dialogue concerning about having a choice. Now if the OG bioshock has a tie with Infinite that sparks the events in Infinite, it would be a perfect circle. Nothing was broken as all was meant to be.

    Wow. This was an amazing story and all, but there is one small plot whole. If Elizabeth imprinted the Big Daddies and the end of the game, after she visits Columbia, then the Big Daddy couldn't have killed Comstock and Elizabeth in episode one. Elizabeth hasn't imprinted the Big Daddies to Little Sisters yet, so why would the Big Daddy you fight in the game be attacking you? At this point, the Big Daddies couldn't care less about the Little Sisters, so why would the Big Daddy kill them for thinking they would harm Sally (A Little Sister) So, either there is a plot whole, or someone else found out how to imprint the Big Daddies to Little Sisters. Still, this was a great story.

    I'm pretty sure that not all the big daddies reacted the same. with everything going on in rapture and the existence of little sisters in its prime, we know that suchong was trying to create the protectors for the gatherers(big daddies for little sisters) but there isn't just one type of big daddy, the little sisters 'fantasy land' from the conditioning didn't seem to be apparent in the game so we know all the variables aren't really working together at the point in time. therefore we can't assume that theyre all reacting the same way. and we don't really know how the mindset of the big daddies are this early on. big daddies are made from splicers so its safe to assume thats where the big daddies get their compassion for little sisters from, making it possible for some big daddies to have more empathy than others, just as humans.

  • @insanejake11
    @insanejake119 жыл бұрын

    I'm just going to take my shot at this like everybody else here in the comments. At the end of Infinite, Elizabeth drowns Booker, killing all Comstocks. However, at the end, there is one Elizabeth remaining. From this, we know there has to be one Comstock that exists, as for every Elizabeth there is a Comstock. This is where BaS Episode 1 kicks in, the last remaining Elizabeth goes after the last remaining Comstock, as kills him. At this point, all Comstocks are dead and our final remaining Elizabeth with her powers will go back to Rapture to save Sally and give Atlas the activation phrase, but because she is returning to a dimension in which she died, she will lose her powers. When she dies at the end of BaS Episode 2, that is the end of any character with the name Elizabeth. There is still a Booker and Anna, but the Booker and Elizabeth we knew are dead. None of the Bookers accepted the baptism, thus no Comstock to steal Anna, thus no Elizabeth. DAMN YOU KEN LEVINE AND YOUR THOUGHT-PROVOKING GAMES.

    l think that part was wrong, from what l understand the post-credits scene from bioshock infinite happens *after* BAS 2 because in the original ending Elizabeth killing Comstock would create a paradox since she shouldn´t be able to exist and the way to explain it is (as proposed by the steam user Solarmech) that the universe of this game works like a PC where everytime an imposible operation is executed, the PC will reset to an earlier date in order to avoid the error. In the game, when comstock dies his timeline got reseted to the a point where he still is Booker, that would explain why Booker is in the post credits scene, but what about Elizabeth? well, she´s special an the PC couldn´t fix her because of her abilities to move through time and space, in order for her be reseted to a timeline where she was baby Ana she had to die without her powers and that´s how BAS 2 ends so l guess it´s safe to asume that Ana in the post credits scene lived a normal life witth that Booker... unless he messed up and lost her to gambling again xD. About the Ana that dies in BAS , l think that happened to explain why there is another Comstock, if Ana dies then there is no Elizabeth to kill Comstock right? l don´t remember seing a date of that event so it could´ve happened way before Elizabeth killed Comstock in the main game and that un-linked one Comstock from the infinite timeline which would also explain why Elizabeth went to Rapture, she wanted to kill every single Comstock in the multiverse and in one of the doors she saw this one living in Rapture after being teleported by the Luteces to hellp him forget (as explained in BAS 1 ending).
