    Well the issue with Distant Horizons is, that the LOD data that it generates, quickly becomes multiple gigabytes. That's not good to include in the base game. Minecraft worlds that were 500mb before, would now be multiple gigabytes.

  • @NightmareWSP

    @NightmareWSP

    Ай бұрын

    @@PiotrBarcz the base mod is playable on my laptop (sits at 60fps with framerate cap) and i play at 500 mod render distance, the performance issues mainly arise when using shaders, which shaders in general require more powerful machines. its also important to note this mod is in very early stages of development, and the shader support is highly experimental at the moment.

  • @PiotrBarcz

    @PiotrBarcz

    Ай бұрын

    @@NightmareWSP Indeed, hopefully the performance will be at least somewhat improved in the official releases. Also, good luck actually loading a 500 chunk render distance as CPUs tend to work to slow after about 300 and the world generator times out.

  • @shringe9769

    @shringe9769

    Ай бұрын

    @@PiotrBarcz I can get 600chunk render distance with 200fps on my 5600x if the chunks are already generated. As for shaders, use Photon not Bliss for high performance, turn off the volumetric fog as it's expensive and IMO hides the beauty of the 200 chunk render distance I primarily play on. With 12 chunk render distance and photon shaders, I get 150fps, with Distant Horizons 192 chunk render distance on top of that I still get 120fps(RTX 3070). Maybe it's a bigger difference for lower end systems, but for me, Distant Horizons has a pretty small performance impact, just make sure to pre-generate the chunks with chunky(especially with worldgen mods), and use the latest alpha of DH.

  • @PiotrBarcz

    @PiotrBarcz

    Ай бұрын

    @@shringe9769 Yeah, if you have an RTX 3060 or better then performance usually isn't too bad but you could get nearly the same performance just using Bobby instead of waiting for DH to generate LODs for god knows how long.
