Speaker Biography:
Kristen Frano is the Applications Manager for B&W Tek in Newark, Delaware. She works mainly with portable and handheld Raman instrumentation on a variety of applications including biomedical analysis, forensics, environmental science and pharmaceuticals. In her role at B&W Tek, she oversees feasibility studies, creates quantitative and qualitative models, and provides valuable voice-of-customer input in product development. She received her B.A. in chemistry from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH and her M.S. in chemistry from The College of Willian & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, where she used Raman spectroscopy and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy to study oil paintings.
Adam has nearly 20 years of experience as a vibrational spectroscopist. He got his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Oregon where he studied nonlinear optical spectroscopy under Geraldine Richmond. Prior to joining Metrohm USA, Adam worked developing spectroscopic solutions for standoff and noncontact sensing applications using Laser Induced Breakdown and Raman spectroscopy. Dr. Hopkins is a member of the American Chemical Society, Society for Applied Spectroscopy, Coblentz Society, and SPIE. He is the author of 19 papers and proceedings and is the author of three patents.
