this came in at the perfect time, having recently injured my leg trying to attempt a fair number of roundhouse and low kicks, so it really helped put into perspective the muscles i need to work on and things I'd completely overlooked, awesome work man

Its great to see exactly what muscles are doing the majority of the work! I've noticed my roundhouse get better (well all kicks really) after starting to do more hip mobility exercises, but this explains some of the reasons why. I'm definitely no Tawanchai, but every day I'm getting a bit better!

Next break down the biomechanical differences between the typical execution of the roundhouse kick in Muay Thai vs TKD vs Kyokushin vs Savate. Some interesting nuances there. :)

What’s up, Tony! I’ll put it on the list. It may be a while before I get to it but it’s been added. That will be an interesting one

Should start with little bend knee then you extend the knee before it hits the target? or do you start with extended knee and move it like a bat? ( for muay thai )

I’m not qualified to tell you how to do the kicks haha. This is just what is happening during the kick. I will say that over the years I have never been told to start with an extended knee and swing it like a bat.

@@combatathletephysio You're just being humble :) I appreciate your input bro. About the kick, We just had a new kru who insists that you should never use your knee when you kick. That leaves me with few options: - hit with extended knee from the start ( but the kick is slow and lame) - Start with bent knee, but extend fully before hitting target ( feels so good, but feels like I could get injured ) - raise the kicking leg little and hit the ground with it before the kick, so you would get the acceleration needed ( feels so god, but so telegraphed kick) - start with bent knee, try to extend that knee and push the ground to accelerate, and reach the target with extended knee. the 4th one is the hardest for me, I can't do it properly. but I'm not sure which one is the correct way to do this. btw, at all kicks I use hips and pivot to add speed and I try to add full body weight through the kick. I'm just concerned about how to kick without using knee ( and without sacrificing power or speed too obv)

@@mohamedabuelwafa3659 I would first need to understand why this individual insists to never use the knee when kicking. What do they even mean by that? Second, often times our bodies figure out the most efficient way to move in different environments given our specific anatomy and capabilities. Trying to focus really hard on specifics can hinder our progress. This is not advice per se, just food for thought.

@@combatathletephysio Thank you, again I really appreciate your input. According to him: The logic behind not using the knee, is to make sure that you don't get injured. If you reach the target with bent knee and your opponent checked the kick, there will be always a chance to get injured. but if you reached the target with fully extended knee, you eliminate that chance. Also, beside his explanation I notice when he kicked me the kick was so fast and fluid. and although he was using like 10% power, I could feel it was very heavy kick. he's much lighter than me, so that is so exciting to me! p.s I'm not new to martial arts, and I already have a heavy kick. It's my main weapon that I had never doubted or questioned until I met him :O

@@mohamedabuelwafa3659 Oh okay. I understand now. He wants to limit too much knee flexion at contact. That’s fair, although you see some fighters do this really well. Again, I think it depends on preference and body type. Sounds like you’ve got a good kick, man. Keep up the good work!
