Biogents Mosquito Trap #1: Real World Review Year 1
Real world experience with how effective the Biogents trap works in our back yard. I also look at how to best control the CO2 distribution at each trap individually using a valve.

Sorry for not updating the video. So it was effective at catching mosquitos but trap placement made a BIG difference. I think I needed to do more research and place them better. All parts of all traps worked reliably and I stored them for the winter to protect them from the snow/ice. I am going to redeploy them again this summer and I will do a better job to track their progress and post regular vide updates on my experience on year 2. So for reliability/quality I give this product an A+ for effectiveness I give it a B but I think that is due to my placement not the products fault. More to come this summer.

Hi I just bought it and deployed, I placed it in shaded area in the garden but not directly near any trees/plants etc, the area within 50 meter square has mosquitos and I always get bitten lol, anything I need to change or add?
Interesting, thanks for posting. Curious if noticed a difference in and around your house. Look forward to see the follow up video.
such a wonderful review. so good.
Thanks for the info.
I put some cow manure around the trap and more get caught. Manure releases CO2
Are you actually able to go out there without getting bit? And how well is it working after 3 years
Have you found that it works best out in the open, or behind plants?
Holly shit this guy hates mosquitos 😂😂😂
Thanks for posting. Given the price point and multiple units for various aspects indoor/outdoor/larvae. Was it worth the investment ? Or is one or 2 of these units more effective than the others.

I would start with one unit and see your results. The Co2 is a big investment but I saw a marked increase in my catch rate. I ended up with so many because there was a big sale for a 3-pack. In reality I only needed 2 or 3 total.
Youre doing natures work catching those damn Aedes. Im. Going to try getting one of these too. Need to get rid of these damn tigers

I do hate those little Aedes, I am on my 7th 20lb tank since I started a few years ago, it works well. It costs about $40 a year for the CO2 and the scent packs. I also use the Thermacell Backpacker Mosquito Repeller as a second line of defense, only got bit one or two times this year, big difference. Best of luck!

Update ?
We need an update! I'd be interested to hear if its worth the trouble to mess with the CO2 or just use the scent stuff.

The scent stuff is supposed to only work on the tiger mosquitoes, I believe. CO2 for everything else.
Didn't catch it in the video if you mentioned, but do you find the mesh easy to clean or any tips?
@postbeam8200

Yeah the mesh just flips inside out and dumps all the dehydrated skeeters out in a nasty little clump.
Which timer where you using for the Co2? The one Biogents sells?

Yes I use the one Biogents sells. It is very accurate and easy to set and forget.
Sugar+yeast=co2 for days
From my understanding Asian tiger mosquito are active during the day...not sure which kind of mosquitos you are trying to catch. This trap was primarily designed for the Asian tiger mosquito. The "regular" mosquito can be attracted using cheaper traps using UV light.

I have been catching mostly three verities based on my microscopic identification; aedes aegypti, aedes albopictus, and culex quinquefasciatus. But aedes albopictus is the major problem and I catch a fair number each night, but this year has been slow.
Did you use Y connectors in addition to attach the multiple CO2 lines?
@postbeam8200

Yes. I used Pneumatic ¼ inch push connect fittings that are typically used for air suspension systems on trucks but the work well for this application and they are easy to attach and remove. Here is a link to the ones I bought: smile.amazon.com/dp/B07PFQ91VY/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_EKH2AM8A139EEMFPN4AM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

@@postbeam8200 thank you for assisting me with my questions.
Aedes are active in day... you shouldn't shut it down in the daytime...
What about rain?
