Most, i quote 'most' of the doctors do not know which brand is using what as inactive ingredient. Mostly in India, doctors are influenced to write brand names influenced by representative of pharma companies who greed them with gifts. This is the truth. A pharmacist knows better while changing the brand name when particular brand is unavailable. Now a days bio equivalence remain unchanged because of strict manufacturing laws of USFDA. Therefore, 'do not substitute' should be removed from prescritions as it misleads the general non-medico public. MCI also orders doctors to write salt name instead of brand name. Be it fot chronic diseases, In country like India where brand names are written based on commision from pharma companies, not all brands are available at all pharmacies. Patient then roams here and there without knowledge if medicine or salts and doesnt find particular brand as that brand would be available at pharmacy near the doctors clinic because of commision game. And absence of pharmacist makes dificult for general public. A pharmacist knows more than doctor regarding which brand to change to. By writing - 'do not substitute' they are insulting the knowledge and skill of a pharmacist.

I am not a pharmacy student but this video... Arises lot of questions in my mind... 1) As he said that, changing brand can affect the bioavailability so it's difficult to take generic medicine 2) Bioavailability of generic medicine & branded medicine will be same or different... 3) if we are cancer, hepatitis, HIV or any serious disease patient so in that case we cannot change our medicine brand if we want.. A/c to this lecture..... 4) what if we don't get same brand stock...

This is a general video.................to assure quality Bio- equivalence studies are..................... to be done. It assures in general the bio availability not changing more than 20% or so.................... may change for a particular product. This video is for students and for study purpose............. an attempt to teach them the difference. ........................nothing else is expected......and intended from the video.............

Sir . You are speaking wrong . generic medicines are manufacturing 99% equal to show bioavailability same as Branded drugs FDA has been giving approvals to manufacture generic medicines Every year for number of Drugs under GCP GMP guidelines Bioavailability difference between Generic.branded Dugs is 0.1% is quite no problem You are misleading pharmacist knowledge & public health

@@Acuere information is incorrect. Generic drug approved by regulatory authorities are bioequivalent to reference listed drug (RLD). They are tested in BA/BE studies and if inactive ingredients are changed, then there is a different approval pathway. Please correct this information. Kindly refer the drug approval process in CDSCO website and FDA website
