I had one of these for yard art. Some of my neighbors didn't appreciate it. I loved looking at all the gears and thinking what a machine. It's nice to see one in action
My cousin and I still harvest oats this way. We love farming the old way
I love this upload since you included the behind-the-scenes of your hard work! And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
Saw a binder working in a big field last week nr Taunton UK. It looked beautiful when they had finished. Wish my Dad was around to see it........
that brings back such great memories - a long time ago now!
Been there done this ... we did our own threshing too and had a grain mill to make grain.
remember working with binders pulled by fordson standard tractors at Pilley nr Barnsley, Yorkshire in the late 1950s. I'm 74 now.

Snap Ron, but I worked on the binder during school holidays, as an evacuee in the Lake District...I'm now 82....
Great to work with you on this video John. Fair play it looks great. Cutting the HD video into DVD for you.
Oh those binder can be moody! We used to have one when a group of us farmed 40 acres all with Draft horses and mules. We pulled the binder with draft housed! Where the shives dry enough to stack like you did? We stouked our shieves the field to fully dry them out.
Lovely stuff John.... have to tip yer hat to the vintage gear!!
Great vid and classic tractors!!
Some nice oats, Irish! When do you plant and harvest oats on the isle?
I love this way of living .. Great vedio ..
Great Video! I'm working on a plaque for the former Massey Harris plant where they manufactured farm implements. Are any of these M-H?
I remember my dad's binder having a catcher on it that would hold about three or four sheaves, which made it easier to stook.
I'd seen photos of this being done & always wondered about the windmill looking apparatus.... what it did. This is very clever. A lot better than having to cut with a sythe, rake , tie by hand.
great vid and great autoswather on the back of the binder! :)
im eating some oats right now...a special thanks to you farmers
John would you be able to do a video of our silage cutting. It's only a small and basic outfit. To have for the future.
Worked with one of those when I was at school, only the tractor was a an old Fordson. This was in the war time, when you were given time of school to help with the harvest.
you need a bundle carrier on that grain binder. It makes shocking bundles much easier.
Heroic - and back-breaking - days!
Que chulada de maquinas, nadamas que eso va con un tiro de mulas o percherones y se ve de lujo

Nice, Thank you
Máy này cắt rụng hạt hết .?
Tablalı makinalardan sonra bu makinayı kullandık çok güzel çok temiz işçiliği vardı adeta çağ atlamış gibi oldu o zamanlar,, tabiki biçer gelince demode oldu
Very nice
Great but you had a he'll of a job putting the twine in properly for the first time. It had to through about a dozen eyes and one mistake meant untied sheaves.
All is safely gathered in thistles docks and binder string
