If you feel the batter is not as light as the urad dal batter, add 1/2 Tsp Eno. Actually, it depends on the weather, and how well the batter is fermented, It should be light and airy. It's better you add a little eno for a softer idli :)

Thanks Amina ji :) If you want to skip poha you can use urad dal for better fermentation. And mix the batter with hand for atleast 15 mins for better fermentation.

Agar batter accha ferment nahi hua hai ya light nahi lag raha to thoda sa eno dal de so super soft banegi. generally summer me accha ferment ho jata hai baki weather me thoda 1/2 Tsp eno dal de to super banegi

I know stone grinders are the best but if we are not eating eating dosa idli very frequently, no use of buying it :) So electric grinders are usually available in every household.
