The BimmerCode App is filled with many features found on the first page, which are the more common ones used on your specific BMW chassis. You can discover more features in Expert mode...BE VERY CAREFUL in this mode. What features have you enabled and/or disabled on your BMW? Are you using a VeePeak module? If not, which module are you using?

Hi, i need help. My stop/start doesnt work when the button/light is off. I know about all the parameters for it to engage but it has never worked anyway. I have only had the car for a couple of weeks so im new to BMW. I was thinking that the last owner may have coded it to be permenantly dissabled? I was thinking of downloading bimmercode app for my android devive and buying the VGATE ICAR PRO BLUTOOTH 4.0 diognostic and coding scanner, which says is compatible with bimmercode app for BMW ultimately to try get me stop/start to work. My car is a BMW 318i (E90) 2012. Just wanted your thoughts, opinions or any advice would be great? as you sound experienced with BMW. Cheers Rob

Hi Rob. This is a very good question, especially since my E92 M3 was the same way when I bought it and still. However, I didn’t want S/S activated and never looked into it. So I don’t have a definitive answer for you. As for the Bluetooth module, I use VeePeak and have had no issues in the years I’ve owned it. Fellow BMW enthusiasts that I network with have used Vgate and switched, which is why I use and promote VeePeak. Regardless, you should be able to find the option in BC to code it out. Please let me know what you find out and I’d be more than happy to assist 👍🏽💯

@@EuroAutoEnthusiast Hi again, i agree with you reguarding not wanting S/S activated same as you didnt as it is a feature not for me, however for me its a psychological annoyance of the fact that it is not working and at the touch of a button i can turn it on or off at my discretion but as it doesnt work, this is not the case. Also my headlights or angel eyes dont come on when unlocking the car at night which is annoying. Im sure this is not normal and i dont think that anything is broken. Im thinking someone has messed about with the coding before i bought the car and i can put this right to my taste using bimmercode app along with your recommendation of OBD. My first BMW and i love the car, just afew things i want to put to my personal taste. I will let you know how i get on. P.S. I envy your M3 mate 🚘👌

I can understand how you are feeling not be able to control/set features and options as you desire. As far as the angel eyes, check your iDrive settings to see if that’s simply turned off. Btw, I started my Bimmer journey with an E46 330ci and moved up from there as I learned my way around my cars doing DIYs. You get your M car in the near future too if that’s what you desire. hi, great video - I know im a little late but I just got myself an 2014 f10 (520d) and was wondering if you could help me out. Using bimmercode I was able to code auto start/stop off and even start the car in eco pro by default however, everytime I switch to comfort or sports the start stop stays off but when I switch back to eco pro the auto start stop switches back on. aI was able to code it completely off on my friends 2016 1 series so whenever he switches between different driving modes, ASS stays off. Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thank you for the video by the way!

Congratulations on your new car and thanks for watching! What I’ve found out since making this video is that the auto stop/start is regulatory and can’t be completely disabled. At least not in any way that I’m aware of or care to know. Since I don’t drive in eco mode this works perfectly for me.

Will this work in 2022? Will it stop auto updates to my iDrive? Thanks

I do not currently own a 2022 BMW of any model so I cannot directly confirm this. Have you researched their site or help section? Hopefully, the programmers have/will be able to research and write code that will continue to provide access to this specific function. The same can be said for auto updates. My suggestion will be to contact them directly.

Hi can you code out the stop start on a 2010 E91 , I can set the memory to remain on , but wondering can I code it altogether on expert mode ? Thanks anyone

As for me, I haven’t looked through expert mode to confirm. I’m happy with it the way it is, being that I don’t use eco mode (the only time stop/start switches back on).

Plus if you're running a turbo'd engine, the oil supply to the turbo bearings are not shut off during engine shut-down, thus increasing life of your turbos and a costly repair.

I understood that he meant “decreasing” the life of the turbo…”increasing” the likely hood of a costly repair. Re-read it and apply some logic…it’ll make sense then 👍🏽 If not, just reach out to him for clarification.

@@rockyali8305 Bearing failure is the most common failure of turbos. The engine simply won’t run with a seized turbo and replacement or rebuilding a turbo is expensive. Turbo bearing failure is a result of oil starvation by not allowing the turbo to “spin down” after running at high RPM and/or under heavy load.

What year is it? Does it have driver assist package? None of mine have that so I don’t know what else you’d have to dísable or if you can. You honestly will have to research and try it. Let me know what you find out and I wish you the best 👊🏽💯

Of course and thanks for watching! That’s a great question and I hope that this at least works in comfort and sport mode. I have not looked too far into ECO mode, because I’m almost certain that this is all tied into the ECU mapping. I will know more when I tune it with DINAN or JB4. Are you running a tune or stock?

According to the BimmerCode app it supports 2018+ X5, X5M. Start by downloading the app, go into demo mode and search supported cars under the Support section and go from there. I hope that helps!

I don’t know, but I suspect that start/stop is a necessary part of how hybrids work. If BimmerCode has this available for programming, then yes. Otherwise, I’d check how your system is designed to work before disabling it. Please let us know what you find out!

I've tried ECO mode on a couple long drives. The very minimal gas savings are definitely NOT worth the trade off for an absolutely gutless and impotent driving experience.

Thanks for this tip. Auto-stop drives my wife bonkers and it's her car so I guess I'll have to de-activate it - doesn't bother me. Typical opaque BMW auto function. Just like automatic transmissions - automatically in wrong gear. Grrr!

I don't know what you mean by Safe specifically? But, even though the industry states the starters are designed to last longer, realize that every time your starter engages to "start" the engine, it's wearing down the motor windings inside of it possibly will need replacing much sooner.

I was able to get the auto stop off using the memory of last setting. Also was able to do some other modifications with fog lights, led swap from Holden error message and folding mirrors to work when alarm is set instead of holding down the lock button for a few seconds. Thanks for guiding me in the right direction.

Auto start stop is an attempt to conserve three gallons of gasoline a year at the expense of accelerated wear on your starter motor. Price three gallons of fuel against replacing your starter. Which would you rather pay for? On some BMWs, starting the car in Sport mode will automatically disable Auto Start Stop. Great video! Thanks so much.

While I’ve understood the concept having lived in Germany. The issue is that while stopped and SS engages, if the brake pedal disengages slightly, SS will put you in park. If you’re not paying attention, you press the gas to go and you’re now in park high revving your engine. There goes the fuel and unnecessary engine wear 🤷🏽‍♂️

I want to get rid of this option permanently! I got Mini Cooper ! 😢 as my start stop not working properly and sometimes my car stop when I press brake! I don’t like it

Did you attempt the steps yet? I can't speak for Mini, but as mentioned in the video my BMW 535i, as long as you don't put it in ECO Mode it doesn't activate. My M3 was disabled when I got it.

I got happy when I saw this video. Finally! I'm gonna beat the Auto Stop/Start function. Went to Amazon and bought Veepeak. Amazon, true to form, delivered the module the next day (Huge grin forming). I downloaded Bimmer Code and navigated to Auto Stop/Start, yah know just like it shows in the video (Giddy now, pulse quickening). I check the Auto stop/start memory button ( I can feel a win coming, huge smile now). I press the code button to save the change and get, "Buy the full version for $29.99....WTF! SOB! ####$$$$$ 🤬

Wow what a write up I’m definitely laughing with you and can imagine how you felt. To be honest, I immediately found value in paying for the full version as soon as I downloaded it. 1. It is a one time payment 2. It’s way less expensive than paying $100-200+ labor cost at your local dealer or shop to do the same thing 3. No monthly subscription…It’s a one time payment 4. The first time you use it honestly pays for itself Did you get the full version so that you could complete the final step?

@@EuroAutoEnthusiast Short answer: I'm on the fence. I'm contemplating sending Veepeak back. If I'd known about the Bimmer Code cost up front, I wouldn't have ordered the module. (STAND BY FOR RANT): You see this is my fifth BMW, 3rd with auto stop/start and 1st that didn't remember the last position/use of the feature. This feature annoys me not because I'm lazy but because it reminds me daily how forgetful I am when I roll up to the stop sign at the end of my block and the car shuts off. While I love my BMW cars, I'm not nearly as fond of the company. I could go on with a list of grievances but I'll stop here. You see, what annoys me most about this is that BMW found a way to make more money in the guys(SP?) of tree hugging and saving mother earth.

Reach out to them, show them this thread and maybe even the invoice for the module and see if they’d be willing to retroactively honor the price. It’s worth a shot if you’ve now decided you want the app
