Yes! And when he's old, and still playing, we'll say he's an old man with a young soul. A very old soul and a young heart.

This is my favorite Blaze Foley cover...he is in my opinion the most underrated country musicians of all time. Too bad he got murdered in 1989...for calling out his friends son for stealing his father's money for heroin. Rich Men North of Richmond is a great song for today especially. Blaze started poor and died poor unlike him though.

Awesome Blaze Foley cover. Billy Strings is the man, I really love his guitar 🎸 playing and singing. Funny, he’s the same age as my youngest son, but he’s an old soul, for sure. He plays all my favorite songs and I dig bluegrass so much. Makes me want to borrow my oldest son’s guitar and start playing again, even though my poor hands hurt so much, but I still want to play again.

I know I been listening since sometime round 2016 and I just wondered what you felt when you covered Blaze Foley , I'm sure your aware he was a gifted man a lot like you but in order to cover him I'm sure you had to slow things a bit and Blaze was a man hated by most but damn the man sure could write a song so I wanna think you kindly sir and I'm sure he's smiling as you play his songs , now I'm leaving here to go listen to the trilogy you made from his songs so peace be with everyone who comes here and to you Billy and all you hold close !!!

Might be true, might not be. Townes Van Zandt said that he and friends dug up Foleys body to retrieve a pawn ticket for Townes' guitar that was in Blazes pocket. "Blaze wouldn't mind."

It is true. The pawn ticket was retrieved and so was the wonderful guitar. I am sure Blaze was laughing his head off the whole time. He only had one suit.

The sorrow of life wasn't in the performance. Modern era helps people like Billy Strings, Tyler Childers, etc to sellout quick now. Blaze died poor. Definitely a difference. That sorrow came out different in Blaze than it did when Billy covered it. Couldn't afford to see Billy Strings last time he played in New Orleans....same with Childers.
