That's almost what I did to my '95 Fatboy .. I went with Zippers Performance 80/80 kit ... I sent them my heads, jugs and CV carb and they did all the machine work. port and polished my heads and installed bigger valves. Fitted my jugs with 10:1 pistons and tuned my carb. They sent everything back with new cam(a Red Shift 559) and push rods along with everything I needed to put it all back together including an S&S metal breather valve ... After I got it all together, I had it dyno'd and even with shitty LAF short exhaust, it still made a bit over 80HP and 98 ft/lb of torque ... I also added a six speed trans to mine and love it. It runs strong nd can keep up with my buddies newer bikes, no problem ... Great video. Love watching you work ....

You did a really good video here; covered all the points, clear and concise. I have a'98 Fatboy EVO with mild build. I considered this level over 20 years ago, but never went ahead with it. It still runs great as it is. I'm 75 now, still enjoy the ride, but I don't need the speed at this point in my life. Thanks for sharing this quality channel.

I live in Tennessee as well and my dream has always been to open a shop of my own but I would love to get into a shop with you and soak up all the knowledge I could.because I really believe when all the real ones like you are gone then we lose decades of knowledge books can’t teach.I was thinking of how much you probably learnt from all the guys before you and they learnt from the guys before them just a lifetime of trial and errors, real craftsmanship of constantly grinding, honing and carving a path of their own.I just love this shit man.

I really love your videos Billy. You are such a talented machinist/mechanic and good teacher and do a great job of showing and explaining everything, and its awesome to see your enthusiasm and all your little personal touches and details that are important to the bike and to you. Yeah the paint looks sweet and the Indian Larry lifter tubes are special. One of my favorite Biker Builds was the one with you and Indian Larry. He was such a great guy, like you, and the brotherhood and fair sportsmanship you both showed was top end. I watched the video about the flood you had in your shop and felt so bad for you but it was a miracle your equipment and especially the bikes escaped damage and I was happy you had good help cleaning it up and getting back on. I hope you are having a happy life farther north now. Anyway, thanks again for your energy and love for what you do. Also, its great you give credit to everyone that is part of the ride. Keep on.

The bike sounds good and Billy Lane really knows what he is talking about when he explains building up the horsepower with new heads and pistons and the cam. The jetting of the bike and the detailed explanation of the coffee colored plugs for the proper burning of the fuel and proper combustion really makes it a no brainer to listen to him and maybe if it is a dire straits situation to have your bike looked at, it may just pay to stop into his shop and get the advice or the quick look over from one of the legends in bike building and motorcycles. Thank you for posting Billy Lane. Very informational and educational.
