Interview with Billy Joel, filmed in 1983. He's talking about different songs, like how he came up with the lyrics for Always a Woman. He explains about the songs Goodnight Saigon and Pressure and talks about the introduction of the concept of the video clip.
The television show Countdown was broadcasted by Veronica from 1976 to 1993 and was "Europe's Number 1 Rock Show" with performances by the greatest artists from all over the world like Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, U2, The Police, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Cure, Run DMC, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J.

Het Nederlandse televisieprogramma "Countdown" was van 1976 t/m 1993 “Europe’s Number 1 Rock Show” en werd uitgezonden bij Veronica. Later werd het programma ook uitgezonden in het buitenland en was het op z'n hoogtepunt in meer dan 20 landen op televisie te zien.
Gedurende deze 17 jaar muziekgeschiedenis zijn er opnames gemaakt met talloze internationale sterren, zoals Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, U2, The Police, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Cure, Run DMC, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J.
Uiteraard kwamen Nederlandse top-acts als Doe Maar, Andre Hazes, Herman Brood, Frank Boeijen, Spargo, Golden Earring, Time Bandits, De Dijk, De Raggende Manne, Hans de Booij, Gerard Joling, Drukwerk ook langs voor een optreden in Bussum.
Countdown werd gepresenteerd door oa Lex Harding, Erik de Zwart, Adam Curry, Simone Walraven Wessel van Diepen, Jeroen van Inkel, Rob Stenders, Simone Angel en Jasper Faber.
Het Countdown archief is vrijwel helemaal compleet en sinds 2017 eigendom van het Amerikaanse Reelin’ In The Years Productions (David Peck - reelinintheyears.com/) en Double 2 Hilversum (Jan Douwe Kroeske - www.double2bv.nl). Het archief bestaat uit meer dan 3.000 analoge mastertapes die allemaal gedigitaliseerd en gearchiveerd zijn. The "it's the view from the 35th floor" part is interesting, as "Always A Woman" was the song that was playing in the plaza when the World Trade Center towers came down.
Always dug his music, but when I saw this pic I was reminded of the Conan "Confessions" segment which he was funny in. Unfortunately, it took place around that time he crashed his car while drunk near his estate in Long Island.
Interesting new insights in this video. I presume parts of the original songs (and/or clips) had to be trimmed because of rights, but still very entertaining nonetheless.
All I can think when I see this guy is when he told everybody that he was black in the early 2000's😂

I think you have him mixed up with someone else.
In this same interview he also talks about "Goodnight Saigon" and that clip is in the 1983 Veronica program "Top '83" so not really that rare.

Why are you the way you are? I genuinely think you're not fun at parties at all. YOU know it's in the program, because YOU have it. All of those other people on earth perhaps DO NOT have that program. To you, it's not rare. However, you choose to not share anything with anyone whatsoever, do you? Exactly, you don't. You act all interesting, but you're just a leech, trying to take down whatever nice they are trying to post on here. Give them, us and everyone, a big fat break for once, will ya, David.
He seems like a real great guy in interviews, but no....he's actually not.
