Gotta be real...when you're in marketing/selling, all your morals and beliefs go out the window. You aren't out there for yourself, you're there for others. If your job requires you to wear a clown costume, you best be damned you'll be wearing that clown costume to close a 2.5 Million dollar deal. After that, you go home to your partner and your cash and that's it. That's how business works.

Ryan, your comment about wearing suits as a form of respect really resonated with me. I started watching you on MDL while in High School and you have influenced me to pursue a career in real estate. I currently work for a development firm doing multifamily and mixed use projects. I remember my first day at the office, fresh out of college, I was wearing a suit and everyone kept telling me to “relax” and “loosen up your tie” but I didn’t. A suit is like a second layer of skin for me and it has opened up many doors of opportunities. Everyday, you never know who you may meet or what opportunity may arise so you always have to be on point. Everyday that I’m out working and grinding, I remember that I am representing myself, my family, my company, and my clients. Everyday I have to put my best foot forward. “Dressing well is a form of good manners.”

I’m just sitting here like where is her closet.

I still wear suits 90% of the time. Guess what? I still get more clients than those who don't wear a suit. I still get more respect from clients than those who don't wear a suit. When you walk into a room wearing a suit, know how to carry yourself and exude an air of confidence (not arrogance), you will always see on the faces of others an unspoken look of respect and acknowledgement. The fact that too many think looking like some "hipster", trend following "wanna be" & not wearing a suit is the so called "look of today", means that I am going to keep wearing my suits and i will always remain one step ahead.

I wish suits were a little more in style in my market (College Station TX) . Left my job of 11 years and yesterday marked my 5th month of being in real estate. This week has consisted of 7 showings with 5 different buyer clients, and finished today with putting 3 offers in. Starting to feel the snowball finally building. Follow up, follow through, follow back. Also, just put my first ever client, a FSBO I convinced to list with me, under contract and got both sides by finding the buyer. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And who knows? Maybe I'll rock a Givenchy someday on a 50 acre cattle ranch I'm selling because I want to. Also...nice socks
