First of all, your comments are awesome. Some great insights. The main storyline is about suicide. When she says "I had a dream, I got everything I wanted," sadly, everything she wanted was to die. She had a dream where she jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and drowned. That was what she wanted ("not what you'd think"). But the reason she describes it as a nightmare wasn't because she died, it was because people watched her do it and no one cared or tried to stop her. Then she woke up and Finneas was there to comfort her with the lines in the chorus. All of your ideas about the underwater part were great and make a lot of sense. I think overall it's about the unbreakable bond between them. If one of them goes down, they both go down. Thanks!

i think when she says "it might have been a nightmare" its connected to the next line. as in her dream(to die) would have been a nightmare for everyone that cares about her. atleast thats what i think she ment the first time she sang "nightmare" in the song.

@@alfonsbilstol no actually, she dreamed of wanting to die. but when she died, she died infront of everyone that didnt care or even notice her. she noticed, maybe the thing she wanted was a nightmare instead, not a dream. so she wakes up to her brother with her, and he said those things to her in the song. (as long as im here no one will hurt you, etc).

the line "If knew it all then would i do it again?", to me, means that if she was told before that those people that hurt her didn't deserve her, she wouldn't have jumped off the Golden bridge. She's saying to people: "don't kill yourself because there's not going back from that, life could get better, you just have to be more patient to see that". A lot of suicidal people have no one to talk to, it's a good thing that Billie has Finneas. A little love can do so much good. In my case, i was all alone, i had no friends, but now i'm trying to make them because i want to be loved. It's hard: sometimes i do think that nobody cares about me, but friendships are built over time and i've got my brother who cares about me. When i was 18 i told him that i wanted to kill myself and he cried and he asked me not to do that, so i didn't kill myself for him. I really like this song because it speaks so personally to me. i listen to it when i'm depressed, because it has a good message that i need to hear from time to time: "don't kill yourself yet, be patient".

I am actually somehow happy that you didn't get the main point is suicide - those who struggle get it in the first two to five lines, and it is actually lifting me up a little that there are people that do not get dragged down the feels lane with this song. Other than that, your insights are very respectful, well thought and compassionate, which is also useful after revisiting these thoughts along with the video ;) All best to you, and a sub cause on top of it all I really like your accents - gotta keep my brain cells working while stuck in my country ;)

Wow you are on point. She actually did have a dream she committed suicide and jumped of the bridge. And no one cared not even her fans. The one one who was there for her was her brother. Everythinf she wanted because she dealt with depression and wanted to no longer live. But at the same time sometimes when you get what you want may turn out to not be how you thought it would be. Which is why she said it might've been a nightmare to anyone who might care. You are great at this. You should react to all her songs that have a message.... hostage, all the good girls go to hell, lovely Xanny and when we all fall asleep where do we do. All of those songs and videos have a message.

There's definitely some background knowledge you needed. The song is about her having a nightmare of how she was unaliving herself by jumping from the golden bridge. But then she wakes and tells her brother and he comforts her by letting her know "as long as I'm here no one can hurt you.." Billie's been battling with depression for years. Nice vid 👍🏾

Guys you should react to other stuff of her like the music video of hostage 😁

The whole song is about depression and suicide... she jumped off the golden gate bridge... then told the story of it. The car in the water sinking is a distraction... visual. You don't get it.
