This man has changed his face so many times, sometimes he has been nefarious, but always he has metamorphosed into someone unexpected. In effect, the personal lives of the Rolling Stones have been kept quite hidden, and it is refreshing to hear the mundane details spoken candidly from this seemingly unguarded source

Because he's not a showoff or propagandist. He tells it like it is, no pretentious nonsense. He has plenty of stories to tell, but no one is interested in the bass player. Well, at least not rock writers, which is why they can suck it. To me he is the most interesting Stone of all. They changed when he left, and not necessarily for the better. Sadly, fans who support Bill are not critical thinkers. He is not a person to be revered, just because he was a member of the Stones doesn’t mean he is was great. He played a 4 stringed instrument. Bragged about 1000 women. Poor, little Mandy. Early teens when she was met him.

  • @suanach

Yeah, the 1000 women was the part of his book that made my friend tell me not to read it or I wouldn't like him anymore. So I still have a "mint" unread copy of it. Although based on what a hoarder ... I mean "collector" he is (if it's a mess like mine, you're a hoarder; if it's all neat and orderly, you're a "collector"😁) and his having always kept a diary, I guess it's not so surprising he kept a count of how many women he slept with. But then, what do I know; I'm apparently not a critical thinker.

Yeah, as if Mick and Brian didn't bang teenage girls....gimme a break. Bill gave the Stones' songs their classic groove in the studio, and the ones he didn't play on he elevated to a higher level on the stage. Listen to LA Coliseum '75 or Hampton '81 bootlegs for cast iron evidence. Bill and Charlie made the Stones swing for 30 glorious years. Without Bill they turned into a generic overpriced hard rock band living on their laurels, and with Charlie dead and Keith a shadow of his former self, they're Jagger's backing band. You're comment is asinine to the max. Belittling the bass player while exonerating the others, wow....

You get a vivid picture IF the BEATLES would have taken this path. On the Let it Be NAKED 2nd. cd "Fly on the Wall" you hear the "hidden mic" in the flower pot conversation between John & George where they discuss one possible future, one kind of like Bill Wyman describes the Rolling Stones evolving into. The BEATLES were finding juggling personal projects and family cut in to the time they had to put in to the band. MACCA, unfortunately didn't have the patience to set it all aside for 2,3 maybe even 4 years then pick it all up again like the Stones have done for the last 50 years. I believe the BEATLES were always destined to break up. Just as the Stones will go on as long as Mick & Kieth are able.
